Aulani DVC hotel room question

Sorry if this is posted somewhere - I'm having difficulty on a pc searching Aulani posts.

We booked an Aulani standard hotel room through David's. Transaction was awesome, by the way. We'll be there Oct 6-10.

Does anyone have any insight/wisdom to share regarding the DVC hotel room set-up? Can I request 2 queens when I do 60-day advance check-in? Mainly, I'm trying to figure out how to ask/get the 2queen set-up vs the king & a pullout.

I know October is "off season", are there any recent early October 2014 vacationers who can speak as to how crowded it was?

Thanks!

We stayed in one of the DVC hotel rooms last August. It was two queen beds. I didn't even know the bed/couch was an option.

Mariafh - thanks! How was it? Is it truly setup like a hotel room? Was there a microwave? Mini Fridge with freezer? Thanks - we never spend time in our hotel rooms, so we don't spend extra for a view. (Except at the Halekulani on my honeymoon)!! I saw a spec sheet that there were 2 types of hotel rooms, and really, 2 queens is what we need for our family of 4.

Thanks!

I think the "hotel room" is the 2 beds and the "Studio" is the king bed plus sleeper sofa because they are two different categories on Davids site with the Studio costing more. I know we stayed in August in a non DVC hotel room for half of our time (booked thru an agency) and then the other half we booked with Davids and it was a DVC studio with the king and sofa bed.

We extended our stay while at Aulani this past Summer (due to illness) and was mistakenly given a hotel room. There were two beds and a fridge but no microwave (or toaster). The front desk gave us a choice of moving to a studio or having a microwave sent up to the hotel room. We chose to be moved.

We stayed this past October and found no crowds at all. Lots of empty chairs and the weather was great.

Enjoy!

I was there in a dvc studio from Oct 16 to 22 (during the hurricane). I am not sure if I would say it was crowded, but I would not say it was empty either. I had a beautiful view of the mountains from the top floor. The rooms on either side of me were occupied.

I did have a hard time getting a last minute breakfast reservation.

We stayed at Aulani this past October for a week. I think I have a little bad news for you. You are staying there during fall break for the Hawaii school system (this year Oct 5-9). Where do people who live in paradise go on vacation? Disney, of course!

We checked in on the Saturday at the end of the break last October (Oct 11), and it was a mad house. I was so discouraged by the throngs of people (by that I mean school age children) running through the beautiful resort that in the first four hours I vowed to my wife that this was our first and last visit to Aulani.

Well, to our relief, come Monday, Oct 13, the kids were back at school and the resort was nearly quiet as a mouse. Spectacular in fact, so much so that we plan on booking again next October. However, definitely NOT during fall break, but later in the month.

IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, I would recommend you at least try to rebook for the week before or after Oct 5-9, 2015.

Good luck, and regardless, the resort is beautiful.

Reppstir ... Thanks for the info. Sadly, we can't rebook. Already booked free flights from Chicago, prepaid thru David's vacation rentals for the DVC room. The upside is that maybe pools & such will be open longer! We'll be starting with a few quiet days on the big island. My kids, 6 & 8, won't mind lots of other kids!
