Aulani Direct Purchase SAPs Thoughts - Feedback Please

Just the facts, sir. :)
I'm not sure what you think I said isn't facts? Buying Aulani is very different than buying in Florida, and that matters to some people. It mattered to me. We don't all have to make the same choices. DVC in general isn't right for most people as well.

That isn't a value judgement about your decisions. How's that pool heater coming along?

I’ll be there next week, and be happy to report the status of this annoying issue! If nothing else, it will be a fun post, because if the beloved lazy river is not toasty (as I fear it will not be), I’ll go to the front desk and complain and it will be interesting to hear what kind of story they’ll give me. But thanks for asking! :) That said, even if the water is too cool, we’ll still enjoy it. It’s Hawaii!

I think American Idol will be shooting there as well, so that’ll be fun too.

Yes, buying Aulani is different than buying in Florida. I guess. Seems like the buying and selling process is almost exactly the same to me, though I know you’d be happy to pinpoint the exact legal technicalities which differentiate the two purchases for, what, the 100th time? The actual phrase “Buying Aulani is very different than buying in Florida” is also one of your old favorites.

I think last year you were keen on proclaiming to us all the possibility that Disney would actually sell, in your words, “poor” Aulani, leaving owner’s DVC status somewhat up in the air, a wildly inaccurate conjecture which you seized upon from a usually informative but not this time podcast. How’s that coming along?

Anyway, not a judgment call either. And your Aulani posts always liven things up!

LOL, that was the speculation of a wildly popular podcast last year by someone most would consider a well-informed Disney expert.

And yes, Disney could sell Aulani or any other DVC resort. It's part of the rules, and it's in your paperwork. And I wouldn't be surprised to see DVC sell any of the off-sites. VB in particular is problematic IMO. Disney is holding a whole lot of bags of Aulani, and DVC has made less predictable decisions than that, IMO. Depends on how much Disney is willing to keep committing to these properties to run them to something close to Disney standards. The pool heat thread is not a good sign for that.

Well, Len Testa was embarrassingly incorrect in this particular instance, it would appear. And, yes, as you’ve pointed out so many, many times, the paperwork enables Disney to sell any DVC resort. But I wouldn’t bet on it happening at Aulani anytime soon. Actually, I wouldn’t bet on it happening at Aulani ever. Of course none of us know, but the place is always bustling and I think whatever room inventory not taken by DVC members goes to paying guests, in a way that makes the economics work.

And in spite of this contentious pool heat issue, the place is pretty much immaculately maintained. But you wouldn’t know that…you’ve never been there! My hope is that one day you’ll go and give us all a great trip report!
