Planning a vacation for July 2016. We have DVC membership points at Aulani, and this will be the first time vacationing there. We are planning on reserving a 2 room villa. Looking for an opinion as to which villa is quietest, Ocean view, Poolside Garden view, island garden, Standard view?
Has anyone ever seen a forum or site that discusses the pluses and minuses of each type of villa at Aulani?

We just got back a few weeks ago and had a 2 BR poolside view and it was very nice. I think the pool area is such a feature of the resort that it was a pleasure to see everyday. And you can see the ocean, as an added bonus.

Our first room was on the second floor right next to the "cave" in the lazy river and it was pretty loud. We moved rooms (5th floor) and the noise level wasn't bad at all. So I guess the answer is that it really depends on where your room is located.

We are here now. We have a poolside/garden view but are up on the 5th floor (by request). We're high enough up that we get some noise while on the lanai but it's not overwhelmingly loud: kids being kids, etc, (though some kids are much louder than others). The lanai doors are really good about blocking most of that that noise out.

I have had ocean view villas every time we have stayed and requested a high floor. I agree that the sliding doors in the villas are excellent at noise blocking. I have insomnia and need relative quiet to sleep so that is important to us too. We found the rooms very quiet. Personally, I do not like near an elevator, though really the elevators at Aulani are in their own elevator "lobby" and tucked back in from the main villa hallways.

I would call MS if you are a member, and request a "quiet" room since that sounds like it's your most important request. If you're not a member, I would call Aulani closer in to your rez dates and make this request. Enjoy Aulani, it's GORGEOUS!!

The island view rooms over look the lawn where the Starlit Hui is performed twice a week. That usually adds noise to the area from 6:30 to 9:00. Also private parties especially for weddings can be done there. Although when we stayed at Aulani in October, a wedding rented the wooden raised area next to Rainbow Reef and they played music that conflicted with the live music at the lounges that evening. The combination was too much that instead of spending the evening sitting on our balcony, we went inside and closed the door. Then we couldn't hear any of it.

The standard view rooms often overlook the convention center. I do not know if they have convention activities on that lawn. I do not remember anyone mentioning that they do. Do I expect in the evenings it would be pretty quiet. Then the island views that do not face the Starlit Hui would be the second quietest rooms. But since the resort is very quiet after dark I think anywhere would be okay.

Have to also weigh in on those sliding doors! It takes two men and a mule to open and close them but darn if they aren't close to sound proof!

Close them and you're in peace and quiet for the most part!

I want them in my house!!
