Aulani at 7 months?

Hubby and I are OKW owners are we're interested in visiting Aulani in April 2015. I'm trying to decide if I need to find an owner and do a swap / rent, or if the seven-month window will work out for us. I can easily get a reservation seven months from today, but September wouldn't be a busy season.

Anybody have any experience booking for this April at seven months, or any other advice on booking Hawaii next April?

We have been to Aulani 2x but not during April..... yet , both of those bookings were at 7 months out since SSR is our home resort.

I have been sort of monitoring availability for April just to gather info/trends for a possible future spring break trip for a few years out from now, and at 7 months out, there seemed to still be lots of availability at least for this past year (for a april of 2014 booking... booked in Sept? if I am doing my 7 month math correct).

Our booking experiences for Aulani at 7 months have been succesful so far. The first trip was an end of July 2012 start date and we were able to get in right at the 7 month window. I did have to "up" my room category first choice from Island View to Poolview and pay a few more points since the Island Views didn't have full availability at that time.

The second trip was this past December over Christmas and was much trickier, I was online right at the 7 month window opening I was only able to get 3 nights together..... I then kept checking back each day and as things moved and changed I was able to eventually get 6 nights together with only one room view category move from a studio on the first night to a one bedroom island view for the rest of our stay.

So I would say that based on the trends that I have seen for April you stand a good chance at 7 months, just be online right at the 7 month window opening... and it will help if you have some flexibility with your points so that if you need to you can spend more points for a higher room view category. The trend seems to be that the lower point view categories get snatched up first.

I can't speak for April, but we had luck with August. Be ready to book online in the morning.

While my in-laws had no issues with getting a studio. (Island View) We had some problems booking a two-bedroom. Right now our last two nights are in a different view.

So my suggestion would be...be prepared and have an alternate plan.

I also can't speak for April, but we got July (the week of the 4th!) at 7 months out (SSR owners) by being online at the exact opening time. No issues at all. Later in the day, we would have been much more limited!

We got March, for our week of spring break, at 7 months with no trouble. We really couldn't be flexible, so I was very glad I could get the exact dates we wanted.

No experience with April, but I had a rough time booking at the 7 month window for last June. Took me something like 9 or 10 consecutive days of trying first thing in the morning before I finally was successful. The first day kept on being unavailable so I couldn't get my foot in the door to get a reservation started. Frustrating at the time but thankfully we had some flexibility with travel dates. Loved, loved, loved Aulani! Can't wait to go back sometime!

We're doing a last minute Aulani trip in April thanks to a Hawaiian Airlines sale. Was able to snag 6 nights at the hotel standard view category (they had just released the category) but island view was also available. We booked these in January! I think Spring is fairly easier than summer bc if you have school age kids you're limited to a week most of the time for spring break.

Also Easter falls in early April next year and Japan's golden week falls in May...so if you're flexible, the rest of the month should hopefully be easier to get!

We had no trouble booking an April stay when we went in 2012 and we are thinking about going again in April, 2015.

When in April are you thinking? I believe our dates will be around 4/15 to 4/22 or something close to that. We want to celebrate our anniversary (4/20) there. I'm just wondering if I have to beat you to the phone!

We did August which I hear is busy right at 7 mos. We wanted pool view and got it without a problem. Just do it online cause you can book an hour before member services.

And, remember it's 8am eastern time so adjust accordingly to where you live!

Before we owned we were able to get April no problem for 10 days at 7 months. I think you'll be OK as long as it's not Easter, you need to check that.
