We're head to Aulani at the end of Feb for a week. Any suggestions on activities for our 14 year old boy? He's too old for the little kids, and not quite ready to be a full-fledged teenager. We plan on renting a car for some outings, but we would like for him to find things to do at the resort too.

He may like trying one of the activities. My daughter turned 13 at the resort and, after she finally tried a teen activity, said she wished she had gone first thing. When we went back a year and a half later she picked up an Ewa and went to the first teen activity after we got there. The cast members are great at involving everyone and she made some friends to hang out with. They really have a variety of activities - honeslty I was a bit envious when she came back once with a lei and another time with an animation cell she painted. I'd also like to do the scavenger hunt they do around the resort. :)

SeaPic, many thanks! I'm hoping that their teen activities will also include boys. From the pictures they show and the promotional materials, it appears to be related around the teen spa... which looks like it is for girls only. We've taken a couple of Disney Cruises, and their teen activities are fantastic. I'm hoping that they have something similar at Aulani.

Can't wait to hear what he enjoys. Can you report back? My daughter is 13 and I am hoping she will find some activities to do. We went last summer when she was 12 and she was way to old for the activities at Aunties. However, she loved all the family activities.

My son is 14 and he loved Aulani when we visited in October. Of course, he did have his 17 year old sister to hang around with, so it was less intimidating to go to teen activities than it might've been by himself. He really enjoyed the ukulele lessons. We went once as a family, and then he and my daughter went to the teen lessons. There are some teen activities throughout the day. Some are on the beach and some are in the Pau Hana Room (Community Hall). Each evening there was an 8:00 activity that my kids went to several times. They had game night, ukulele lessons, and animation class. They also have scavenger hunts on the beach and photo safaris. They also have lei making classes, but we were having our family photos made during the day/time that was offered. My son also enjoyed the Starlit Hui and just hanging out at the pool. He tried stand up paddleboarding for the first time at the beach. He snorkeled both in Rainbow Reef and in the lagoon. The kids also did one of the menehune trail scavenger hunts. It was cute and took about 30 minutes.

Both of my kids were sad to leave Aulani (I was too!!). Even though we had a few more days to spend in Waikiki, it felt like our vacation was over. I hope your family enjoys every moment!

Hi, thanks for posting this question. We will be traveling in August to Aulani with our 12 yo son but his college age brothers are staying home- can't get them to go! :( So it will be just the three of us. I would love to hear about the activities for tween, early teen boys.

Last week, I noticed a lot of teens doing the evening scavenger hunt. Looked like they were having a good time.

Alas the activities for tweens are not as often or exciting. They happen a couple of times a week vs a couple times a day for teens and are at Aunties. DS 11 enjoyed the one he did but was jealous of his sister. There is no shortage of other fun though. As bamagirl@hrt mentioned there is rainbow reef, paddle boarding, snorkeling and family activities. Even as tween and teen my kids still liked doing the various Menehune trails.

The teen activities that are located on the beach or Pau Hana are definitely for both boys and girls, and lots of boys do come and enjoy the programs. There's something for everyone, and the ones on the beach or Pau Hana aren't run by the spa :)

Seapic, my daughter will also turn 13 during our stay! What kind of activities did she enjoy? Are the teen activities as surprised as kids activities? I wondering about giving her a little "freedom" to roam around for the first time. Thoughts?

Do you have to pre-register for any of the teen activities?

That is my worry . My 13 yo is going to love the teen activities. My almost 12 yo girl will be jealous and a bit angry that she will be in the kid club with her almost 8 yo sister.... even though we plan to do a lot of things as a family I'm already to hear about it.
