Typing Aulani is 7 whole letters! May I submit the acronym AKO for your consideration? For Aulani Ko Olina. How about it?!

The cute butterfly graphic used in the signature blocks shows AHV, as shown below:

And our Rent/Trade board control program code is ARV. (Aulani Resort Villas)

I think it will take a while for everything to sort out. Has Disney given the villas a "name" yet?

So uhhh.. ADVCVKOH :rotfl2:

I know, I know. Quite a mouth full. :rotfl:

I keep flip flopping between AKO and AKH (Aulani Ko Olina Hawaii). Or it could be the first 4 letter resort of AKOH. Hopefully whatever the code that is chosen will not be anything insulting in Hawaiian.

Hmm, the more I think about it, I would think Disney would want the H for Hawaii somewhere in the initials.

AHV = Aulani Hawaii Villas
AHR = Aulani Hawaii Resort

These are Initialisms not Acronyms :teacher:

I like AOK ! hahahaha

Seriously, all Disney's Aulani's web pages use the name "aulani-hawaii-villas", so I think it should be AHV.

I personally think it should not start with "AK" only because at quick glance it can be confused with AKV for the Animal Kingdom villas. Which themselves can be confusing because Jambo and Kidani have different things to talk about.

I like the AHR or AHV so it is definate that you are talking about Hawaii!

And by the way, these Initialism's are dangerous. Everytime I went up to the Will call window last week to exchange my Give a Day vouchers for fastpasses, I said "I have GAD vouchers to redeem" and the CM's kinda looked at me like I was crazy. One lady laughed as I quickly restated "give a day vouchers". My DH rolled his eyes and my Dkids said "mommy you are on the DIS boards too much that you talk like them!":lmao:

I like AHV... it makes the most sense when compared to the way Disney is shortening it. Plus, AHV is already the one most on Disboards have seen in the sigs, so it will be familiar.

AHV = Aulani Hawaii Villas
AHR = Aulani Hawaii Resort

Just my 2 cents...

AHR refers to the"R"esort which include the regular hotel.

AHV refers to the "V"illas which is what DVC members will be purchasing and staying

Hope that helps

It looks weird in print, but if you sound it out phonetically it sounds very Hawaiian!

Or maybe Inuktitut...

In Hawaiian, I believe it translates to "Listen to the whisper of the wind singing as you watch the flying fish rise and fall from a crystal sea, backlit by a bronze sunset."

In Inuktitut, it means "Whale blubber."

How about Ko Olina Aulani, KOA. I do not think Kampgrounds of America would mind being associated with Disney.

I think I can find some old yellow and black bumper stickers or window decals that have KOA on them.

For those like me who aren't sure what acronym is best for Aulani, here is a little tidbit about the cultural nuances of the Hawaiian language: The Hawaiian alphabet has only 12 letters: Five vowels (A, E, I, O, and U) and seven consonants (H, K, L, M, N, P, and W). Notice that the letter "V" doesn't exist in the Hawaiian alphabet.
