Aulani 7 nights for price of 5 points

Just read that Aulani is offering a special starting Oct 19th for a discounted point stay. 7 nights for only the cost of 5 nights points. I've never heard of such a thing. I'm hoping that it's retro-active to existing reservations as we have 7 nights scheduled in Aulani starting the 18th. I hope that I can add one more night to our stay (to keep 7 days within their window) and actually net 6 nights for the price of 8.

Does anyone have any additional details on this deal? Is this real?

Can't wait for MS to open to call them on this and find out.

I wonder how they are going to handle the 'banked' points that went into my reservation. I hope that they allow them to be 'unbanked'. I'll post my results.

Any other thoughts? This sounds like a rare deal with a discount on points.

Yes, the offer is real. Someone posted on the DVCNews Forum that they were allowed to rebook their stay to take advantage of the special. They saved themselves two nights worth of points in doing so.

I'm not optimistic that you will be allowed to "unbank" any points because of this offer. Banking is an irrevocable transaction, so once they are banked the points have to stay banked. If you have a mix of banked and current year points, then MS should be able to use all the banked points first.

Just got off of the phone with MS. They were able to take care of everything. They even unborrowed my points (I had borrowed, not banked these points) and didn't need to use my "one time" ability to pull this off. I'm not sure if this was their policy, or I got some magic. It did take a long time on the call fo them to figure this all out. It took took cast members, but it worked!

They had to split the reservation into two different plans and link them so I have one reservation for Oct 18th and the other reservation for October 19th-26th. They did say that we would have to check out/check in on the 19th but shouldn't have to move rooms (not guaranteed).

Our flight out of Honolulu isn't until late in the evening on the 25th. Either we will just use the room until later on the 25th or get a new flight out on the 26th. Either way is great by me.

When you check in I would mention to the CM at the front desk about your two reservations and could they make sure you do not have to move rooms.
