Hi everyone,

Well I can't believe that in April a year will have past since I almost booked our DFTW - we decided to hold off because of the GF construction. I am still really disappointed that we won't be getting married this year, but also excited that we can now say we are getting married next year (2013) and also that we get to book everything in a few months! :cool1:

Anyway - enough rambling :goodvibes

My new issue is when we are going to get married. We are from the UK, and my MOH is a teacher, so we are very restricted between when she can take leave, and how that fit's in with everyone else's leave! At the moment, we are thinking of the second week of August 2013 - but every review I read says how crazy hot and humid it is at that time of year. We normally go to Florida for my birthday which is September 10th - I have even been when hurricane Floyd (I think?) hit many years ago. Would the weather on the second week of August be much worse than September?

The other issue is the crowds - I'm used to it being quiet, and I'm not a fan of lines. As we would be at Disney for 3 weeks, we were thinking of week 2, 3 and 4 of August - please if anyone could help/ advise that would be great!

My DF likes the look of SBP for ceremony but I'm worried about it being too hot, and love the WP (not sure what the construction would be like by then tho?). We were then thinking the attic- but again, I was worried about it being too hot to use the outside space?

Any help would be much appreciated, as I seem to be a bit rubbish making these decisions! On a plus, I have my dress on order - so I'm not a total wedding disaster!

Thanks everyone, and Happy New Year!

I live in Florida and have been through 7 FL summers so far. The only real difference heat-wise in August versus September is that it stays hot longer in August. Even at midnight it will still be pretty darn hot and humid. In September you sometimes get mornings and evenings that aren't completely unbearable. I personally, would not book an August wedding in an outdoor location. You will sweat like crazy and so will the guys if they will be wearing suits. I'm not sure how hair and makeup would hold up in that kind of heat and humidity. I only go outside for 20 mins at a time during July and August. If you go with an indoor location it wouldn't be as much of a problem. August is also one of the rainiest months in Florida, so the chances of it pouring on your big day are high. It pretty much rains every day at some point. The crowd difference is HUGE too. Most FL kids go back to school in mid to late August, so September is a lot less busy. The prices are quite lower too. Aug prices are peak season.

I hope some of this helps! Good luck with your decision making. Is it possible to book during one of the school breaks during the school year?

We are getting married in August 2012.

Just to clarify... week 3 and 4 of August are value seasons, combined with your wedding discount make for great prices to visit Disney. It is not peak season. I do not know about Sept prices.

I am also a teacher so we chose this time in August to not only accomodate use but to give our guests the best discount possible to come to our wedding. We did choose indoor locations for both ceremony and reception and are providing transportation everywhere due to both the heat and rain possibilities. I've also found when planning in late August there aren't as many brides which makes it easier to book locations.

Hope that helps, happy planning :goodvibes

Congrats! We were married on August 17, 2010 and returned in late September 2011 to celebrate our anniversary. It was pretty darn hot both months, but in September there were also lovebugs, so I still would have stuck with August ;).

I do personally think it will be too hot for an outdoor ceremony, our ceremony and reception were indoors. Our dessert party was outside and it was still very hot, even at 9:30 at night. My other concern would be it raining and then your ceremony is moved to a ballroom or something like that, which was why we chose the WP. I would think by August 2013 the construction would be done in the WP area. The Attic could also work, you could do there ceremony outside and if the ceremony is short, it should be fine, people can just walk right back inside afterwards.

Crowds will definitely be lower in September than August, but it wasn't bad in August. Prices I think were pretty much the same, it was value season for both when we went.

Hope that helps, Happy Planning!

Thanks so much for your helpful replies, it hS put my mind at rest simply because knowing what to expect is probably the best - be it good or bad! Knowing your experiences has led to some quite interesting conversations with my DF tonight-it's all good though! We have decided to brave it and are gonna book the second week of August. We will go for 3 weeks which will then hopefully lead to smaller crowds on our last week before heading home.

Ultimately as my DF said,do I want to be thinking about the weather and my make-up melting, or having my MOH at the ceremony- she has been my best friend since we were toddlers and is more like a sister to me. I know he is right. So, we will pray for no rain, or hope when it does that we are inside making the most of the air con!!

With your advice I think that SBP is a no go, as pretty as it is! It's a shame ad I like the idea of dusk and White lights (maybe I have been watching the twilight movies! At 33 I should know better! Lol). Although, in all seriousness it probably doesn't get dark until late in August? And Im sure that the WP will also be finished by then.

I'm new here so not quite sure how to post bits of what you have posted and reply, but thanks so much and massive congrats and excitement for your August 2012 wedding :)

Also, just thinking, if we booked escape when could we book? Is it at the 12 month mark? Think that's prob safer with the option to upgrade to wishes when we have firm numbers rather than the other way around!
