August Travellers...HELP!

Dilemma! I posted this on the Cdn board too.

In short, I am now questioning our decision to go next July. I am working on my MEd and have a "plan" for completion and taking a 6 month Ed leave to do so. If I do this, I need to be in school in July next year so "the plan" doesn't get screwed up. This means travelling in August. DH is a little reluctant (worried about hurricanes) We would go August 6-16. Advice please!

Our family went the first week of August two years ago. It was hot and humid with a short rain shower some days. We really enjoyed the trip, though. There is ample air conditioning for quick cool downs, and we always took a break at the resort during the hottest hours of the afternoon.

We are avid summer travelers and have gone in July and August. The past few years we have stuck to August and have had great experiences. We travelled late August last year just before Katrina and actually stayed an extra day to watch what she was going to do. Other than that we've never had any problems with hurricanes, just the usual afternoon Thunderstorms. I also found the crowds to be a little better in August than in July. I say go in August and keep to your schedule. You'll be able to enjoy it more if you've accomplished your goal first.

We were there during Francis. The parks closed for 2 days. It was actually kinda fun, didnt ruin the trip at all.

Due to my wife's schedule and the kids' school, the only month we can go is August. We always have a wonderful time.

We were vacationing at WDW when Charley came through in August '04. Park disruption was minimal. 12 hours after the hurricane hit, 3 of the 4 parks were open. As always, CM's did a great job!

We'll be there in 5 days! Woo hoo!

I've gone in August a few times and happen to like it. It's usually quite hot, but we like the heat. Don't worry - just enjoy and make the best of it no matter what the weather.
