AUGUST Rental Question

I am getting rates of over $700.00 for eight days! We have been going to Orlando in mid August for many years and usually rent with Alamo. We have never paid more than 350.00. Any guidance would be appreciated - the prices are outrageous!!!

Keep checking. Costco, autoslash, and car rental savers are the most recommended on these boards. There’s also a severe shortage of rental cars which a big part of the problem.

Welcome to auto rental in a post lockdown world. Autoslash can be your best friend. As soon as I have flights I will be booking with them for my October business trip to MCO. I'll take whatever I can find and then hope to catch the price as it falls.

The companies all cut fleets about a year ago when COVID hit, then there was the big fire in Ft. Myers that took out 4,500 vehicles. There are microchip shortages making it difficult for manufacturers to produce more cars, and with all the "COVID relief" money, those cars are mostly going to private and not fleet sales. Now that travel demand is back, more people are renting cars, especially at MCO, because they don't want to be beholden to busses while in the Disney bubble. But it is happening everywhere. I'm renting in a month off airport in DFW and paying $50/day, when I had this trip booked for March 2020 it was $29/day.

Our prices for mid August, the 8th-20th, $1,000!!!UGH! Last Oct was higher-maybe $500, but pre-virus, I could snag a deal for under $400. Might have to rethink this-
