What is on everyone's packing lists for their August trips. I've been through countless sample lists but I know I'm gonna miss something that's not on there. Sorry, I'm just neurotic lol.

Some type of portable fan, preferably a water misting one. They are very expensive in the parks and you should be able to get them for about two thirds the price at walmart/walgreens.

A poncho for sure! 2$ - 5$ vs 13$ in parks! Florida can be sunny one moment and within minutes there is a down pour. I was thankful I took mine last year we went august 8-12. And get the sturdy kind they don't blow up and away so easy :)

I actually don't care for the ponchos (my DH got one one year) - he got all hot and steamy in it. I think the ones they sell at the parks are just so thick! Then it was a pain to lay it out to dry afterwards.

I prefer to bring travel umbrellas for everyone. Just got a cute new one at Target!

We're staying in a condo, so our list is quite extensive! One suitcase of food items! Buying water and drinks there. Lots of crystal light packets!

I'm not going 2 make a list but i would say 2 be prepared 4 anything, meaning that u should bring a sweater even if its realy hot, Florida weather is all over the place. Also, make sure 2 hav comfortable shoes, u wil b doing a lot of walking in the parks. LOTS OF SUNSCREEN!!! and bring snacks from home! and also a camera!!! hope this helps and hav fun in Disney!!!

My family and I go to FL every year, at least once a yr (we have time shares in Sarasota), so I know what to expect weather wise. We don't pack that much and go shopping as we need stuff. This is the 1st Disney trip where I will be the only adult, so I'm just trying to make sure I pack everything we will need. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I'm bringing a misting bottle and I am going to bring a couple of washcloths to soak and put in ziplock bags, so that we can wash ourselves off every once in awhile. Also, lots of ponytail elastics and hats!

I'm in the same boat.... just trying to make a packing list now. Can anyone direct me to the sample packing lists? I remember reading somewhere packing the Mommy hook to attach to the stroller in order to carry bags. Also, ziplock bags were mentioned so any uneaten snacks purchased at the park can be enjoyed at a later time. Bandaids are a great idea too!

I don't have a formal list, but some things in the bags currently in my livingroom:

- Walmart ponchos.
-Mistymate personal misters
- A power strip for all the phone rechargers
- spare sunglasses for everyone
- 2 copies of all my confirmations (resort, plane tickets, trip insurance, YES classes, limo....)
- basic first aid/medicines-- Tums, kids Tylenol, band aids...
- each of us takes one entire outfit and puts it into someone else's suitcase, just in case the airline misdirects one suitcase.
- pre-done "Mousekeeping" envelopes
- each of us is bringing or wearing a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. The plane can be chilly, and our return flight is at night.
- a map of the FL counties. In 2008, Tropical Storm Faye arrived on our departure day. All the warnings and watches were by county, and they weren't a huge help to me. Now I always bring a map.
- paper plates and bowls. I ordered breakfast stuff from Garden Grocer.

These are awesome ideas that I didn't think of! THANK YOU!!

Don't forget hydrocortisone/after bite creams! Somehow I always attract the little biting bugs!

This is our first time going in August and here's what I have so far:

bought Coleman personal mini fans (not the misting ones)...these work great!
sunscreen
travel size first aid kit and some anti-bug wipes
ponchos - we have the ones we bought at Disney last year
ponytailers and headbands
anti-chafing cream
fast drying/wicking shorts/socks/shirts - we all have a few items
hats/visors
lip balm with sunscreen
anti-frizz hair cream (DH doesn't need this but the three of us do ;))
sneakers and flip flops

We also mix our clothes up in each suitcase - just in case and we always pack an extra set of clothes along with a bathing suit in each of our carry-ons.

I always stress out over packing. We are going for 2 weeks, so I pack accordingly.

Some items I pack are:
Tide stain stick - travel size
Band-aids
Travel size deoderant
Travel handwipes
Travel lotion
Ibuprofen, Gas-X, Pepsid, Excedrin migraine and back & body
Detergent for laundry
Lip gloss with SPF
Ziplock baggies

One thing I will be getting this year is a clear shoe bag to keep in the bathroom area to keep all of our items in. I read about that on one of the threads here. We usually have stuff laying around everywhere.

the mommy hook really does come in handy and I use ziplock bags for everything from snacks, change of clothes and keeping electronics dry on rides.

I've been seeing a lot about Mousekeeping envelopes. Do you tip each day? Who exactly are you tipping? What is the recommended amount for a tip?

I tip daily for the mousekeeper who cleans my room that day. I keep a clean room ( meaning a mousekeeper will NEVER be picking up MY clothes on the floor.) I expect clean towels everyday, the beds made and a run of the vacuum if visible evidence is seen.

Usually $3 or $4 dollars per day. I've never used an envelope. Nice idea though!

If I call mousekeeping for anything, I tip $2.

I agree about having a sweater with you even on hot days. Going in and out of air conditioning when it's hot can make air-conditioned buildings seem freezing. I bring a leightweight sweater (or even a long-sleeved denim shirt) in my park bag.

Other items I like to being are:

nightlight
ziploc bags, various sizes
power strip for charging electronics
moleskin and bodyglide
cheap throwaway ponchos (from Target's camping section)
clothespins (for hanging we swimsuits or holding curtains closed in room)
white noise machine
extra contact lenses
Neutrogena spray sunscreen
a visor that has a velcros fastener; easy to loop around bag or fanny pack
extra sunglasses (expensive to buy at WDW)
sewing kit (my swimsuit strap broke at WDW and rheir sewing kit cost $8!)
OTC meds (tylenol, pepto, bandaids, tums - all expensive to buy at WDW)
Extra batteries
Kleenex brand Splash and Go wet wipes; very refreshing in hot weather

And also from Target's camping section, one of my best finds ever: a small battery-operated fan (Coleman brand) costs about $3 and is incredibly powerful. About five times more powerful than the small foam-bladed fans.

We bring about the same stuff mentioned, but this last trip my DGD being just potty trained I made sure to bring packs of Clorox wipes for the toilet seats!
