I have a choice to go to the world either the first week of August or over Thanksgiving Break this year. I have never been in August, so I am relying on your expertise to help me with this decision. I can either stay at Beach Club in August or Saratoga Springs in November. Is it too hot to enjoy the parks in August? What is the weather like then? What would you do??? Help! :scratchin

I like hot weather so. I pick August. I can't stand be cold so November out for me.

Is August too hot to enjoy touring the parks? That is what I really worry about. I have only been in April and November. I know what the weather is like then. Just curious about August. Will I sweat my butt off? will it be miserable?

I have been at both times. August is hot, mid to upper 90s in the day. I live in Alabama, so I am used to the heat and humitidy.

You can tour the parks in August you just need to take it slow and drink plenty of water. If you feel you are getting to hot sit down and people watch a while.

I would think that the crowds may be a little worse at Thanksgiving than in August. I would probably choose August.

Hope that helps.

I'd be going in August just to stay at the Beach Club!!!

Like previous posters said...make sure if you do go in August that you take lots of water breaks!! The good thing, is that depending on which parks you are at, there are lots of great places to stop and rest and still see/do something enjoyable!

I don't remember what the World is like at Thanksgiving....it's been a while since I've been there then. I went to Disneyland last year and it was crazy crazy crazy the day before Thanksgiving, but on Thanksgiving day we walked onto all the rides!!

Have fun no matter when you go!!:flower3:

August will definitely be steamy - hot and humid, and crowded.

Thanksgiving week was a lot of fun, fantastic to see the parks decorated for Christmas, and crowds were very manageable using evening EMH - plenty of walk-ons! It was cold this past November, though, 40s at night!

I'd take November over August. Have a terrific time!

Thanks give is so crowded:crowded:  . It was the WORST time I ever went. The temps were great but it was wall to wall people. I wnt early in the morning and by 11 it was Bad and by 3 it was REALLY BAD:crazy2:

We've been several times in august. Had a good time, but wow, it is hot. Like sweat rolling down your legs hot.

We've also started our trip the sunday after Thanksgiving. It was a world of difference, low crowds, warm temps, xmas decor.

If you could start your vacation the weekend after thanksgiving, that really is an ideal time to go.

Thanks so much! I appreciate all your tips. I think we are going to go in August, just because I want to stay at Beach Club. Thanks!

We were there this past Thanksgiving. Never been in Aug. We arrived the Friday after turkey day and the crowds were heavy but do-able. The Sunday after was awesome and the following week too. Light crowds warm sunshine. (we are from Northern Illinios so anything over 50 was warm :) The temp wasn't too bad during the day, you could wear shorts and t-shirts but you would need jeans and a hoodie at night. I would pack a cheap pair of gloves too, at night watching the fireworks your hands do get chilled. I'd go back in November again, anywhere that doesn't have snow that time of year I'll take it.

We've been to Disney twice during Thanksgiving and once in August. We stayed at the beach club in August and really liked it. We're going back this August - can't wait!

It's definitely hot in August, but absolutely manageable. Get to the parks at rope drop, leave around 12:30 for an afternoon at the beach club, and then back to the parks for dinner (or just after).

We all carried "camelbaks" and wet through approximately 3liters of water a day! Hydration, comfortable clothing and shoes, and down time in the afternon are all key.

When we went in mid-August (8/17 - 8/24), it was less crowded than Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving week is ok until Wednesday afternoon, then the madness begins until Sunday.

Besides being a little less crowded, I also really liked going in August because we LOVE the waterparks. The only EMH that we take advantage of are the EMH for waterparks. EMH evenings at Typhoon Lagoon are fantastic (no crowds - at all) and the mornings (although early) are great as well. My kids were able to go down Summit Plummit (Blizzard Beach) three times during the EMH and the lines in the morning are very minimal.

BUT...if you don't think that you'll be able to get to the parks until late morning, or even noon, I would re-think August. The parks (particularly Animal Kingdom) are really tough in the mid-day summer sun.

Seems to me I remember that in August we had rain late each afternoon.

don't forget about hurricane season is in August. It is really the peak season for them. I had to evacuate Disney in August because of a hurricane and i live in Louisiana. It was horrible to have to evacuate - there is only 1 route out of Florida - straight up with every other person who has to evacuate. At least here we can go in 3 different directions. Just thought you should consider that also. We have had to cancel many vacations from the beach because of them.
