August No Buy

I know it's a bit late in the game...but I NEED a NO BUY thread for this month. Even if no one else joins...I HAD to do this!!

We just moved back to Ontario from BC and we are slowly being bled dry.

I *think* we are finished with all the expenditures (the plates have been changed, we've got our new licenses, we're moved in and all the bills have been switched over, etc) so now we just need to last through the remainder of the month, spending as little as we can...particularly on the unnecessary cash purchases.

I take out $20 a week in cash (from Thursday to the following Wednesday) for misc spending but whatever I have left over goes straight into the Disney jar.

My goal is to have as many no buy days as possible between now and the end of the month.

I haven't done one of these in awhile but I have a cruise coming up next month, so I'm trying to save every bit I can! I'm in!

I kind of afraid to do August. I did my very first NO BUY in July... and we had $1000 in car repairs and on the 31st had to buy a new refrigerator. That no buy stuff nearly broke me!

Had my first close call already...

Nearly pre ordered Iron Man 3 online today but caught myself just in time. Was noodling around the Disney Movie website and got the thing in my cart before I thought about what I was doing.

Planning on staying around the house today so as long as I don't order anything online, I should be good to go for today as well.

Tomorrow I will have something to report as I am getting groceries and running errands...one of which is to have a package weighed and mailed out. The postage for said package will come out of my $20 for the week and will factor into my tracking here. Gas and groceries aren't tracked here for this month but perhaps in September.

Was planning to wait until Sept which is one of the two months each year I try to go on a spending fast and spend NOTHING that is not for a necessity.

DH and I committed to a short term financial goal this morning and this seems like a good place to start getting "gazelle intense" on that.

So far in Aug the only "blow money" I've spent is $8 on lunch with BIL.

We spent extra on grocery treats for a weekend at home this week.

I saw a Grumpy mug, still in box, at a garage sale but passed on it

I wish I could do a no buy August but all the kids grew at once and we need all new school uniforms and shoes. ERGH!!

No buy days are easy when you have no cash left! LOL

Unfortunately, DH is at the hardware store now getting all the necessary items to put our bed together and fix the things that were damaged by the moving company. They haven't sent us a settlement cheque yet but these costs should be covered by them so they don't count for the purposes of this thread. I'm just whining that we're STILL not done spending money a full month after our move!
