We did the last week of August 2001, and probably will again 2006. It is VERY HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That said, the crowds, while not gone, are manageable. A lot of people have gone back to school at that point, so it helps a lot. I thought it was similiar in crowd level of October last year. Go to the parks very early, spend the afternoon at the pool and go back out in the evenings and you will be fine. The misting fans are wonderful if you can carry them, also the fountains at the park will help you cool down, and the misters too. Have a great time!

I agree with Erika, we go in August often. VERY hot but not so crowded after the middle of the month.

Enjoy!

A couple of years ago, I went on a solo trip the last week of August. The weather is brutal (but I hate anything above 70), but the crowds were not bad at all; very manageable (I believe the last week of August and all of September is one of the slowest times of the year). Drink lots of water and take a mid-day break.

I wonder how the free dining is going to affect the crowds? Otherwise, it's usually not too crowded.....

It is hot, very hot. The crowds are manageable, and the lines are not bad.

Drink LOTS of water. Even if you don't feel thirsty, drink. Make sure all youngsters in your party drink too. Take a break in the afternoon. We nap. That way we have energy to go out in the evenings, when it is cooler. I like our mister fan. The relief only last a few seconds, but it is better then nothing.

I don't know about this year though, with the free dining. We usually do the last week in Aug cuz it is Value season and my DS is still off of school. The free dining is going to coincide with part of our trip this year.

Just bring plenty of sunscreen, drink LOTS of water, take midday breaks and you'll be okay!

Does it ever get in the 80's and lower humidity (not no, but lower) at the end of august? Or is it always in the 90's and high humidity?

We went 8/23-9/3 in 2003 and it was great. Definitely was hot and I didn't think the crowds were that bad. We didn't have to wait long for anything. I would go in August again!

A day long rain, such as a hurricane or tropical storm passing by, could keep it in the low-to-mid 80s. But normal highs for the entire month of August is 92. But it rarely gets above 94 or 95.

Don't forget the ponchos! But remember - it's Disney - so enjoy every moment!!

Can you say HOT :goodvibes HUMID :goodvibes STICKEY :goodvibes and lots of fun. Sure it is hot but you are on vacation in WDW. We were there in August about 6 years ago with small children 4 & 9 and they did fine. Relax you will be fine

We went to Disney in August '02 and maybe it was an off year or something but we didn't find it too hot. It was a lot hotter when we were there a couple of weeks ago for Memorial Day Weekend. My advice would be to be prepared for very hot weather though, drink lots of water and take mid day breaks to either relax at the resort or swim. Good luck and have a great trip!!

THANKS ALL!!! I feel a little better . . . at least it's not toooooo crowded. I'm used to May and the beginning of December when you just about walk on everything (or minimal waits)!! Ya know, I DON'T CARE!!! It's just me and DH this time and we are going to have FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Maybe we'll sleep until noon, shower, get lunch and then go to the parks!!!! :cloud9:

Wow, it's just you and dh?? That will be even easier to survive then in August, without kids. I wouldn't suggest your thoughts though LOL. You do not want to be in the parks after lunch, HOT!!!!!!! My married with no kids neighbors are thinking of July, and I told them, if I had no kids, I'd get up at the crack of dawn, go till lunch, then come back to the hotel for a nice LONG nap, then go back for the EMH and stay up late!! That never works with the kids, they never want to take that nap, only us grownups do LOL.

It will be hot and crowded and we could care less. We are on vacation in WDW. We adapt, improvise and overcome and ALWAYS have the time of our lives. We can't wait till August 4th!!!
