August Hours, why closing @ 11 after the 13th.

Excited to see the August hours posted on the DL site, but sad to see the Park closing an hour early after the 13th.

We'll be there Aug 5th thru the 15th.
DCA is open 8-11 our entire trip
DL is open 8-midnight until the 13th, when it starts closing at 11.

Just curious if anyone knows why?

I am surprized that DL is not open until 2400, DCA is more than it used to be. Maybe its the issue of people hitting the rides right at closing than having to escort them out after..I am sure that there might be a staffing and security issues or maybe a big mistake on the 2300 hours.

honestly i wouldnt even worry about that...even a couple weeks before we went a few weeks ago they changed the hours like twice...im sure it will be back to midnight...its the middle of the summer for mickeys sake!!

If you had said the hours switched on the 20th, I would have guessed it had something to do with the AP blockout calendar. But the SoCal passes are still blocked on the week of the 13th.

Maybe it's tied to the LA schools? Some start back-up on the 14th.

When (calendar-wise) would you expect the hours to change? That's when DLR starts to scale back the summer hours.

It's only an issue of two hours for your entire trip. And if you want to, you can get in line for anything at 10:59pm on those two days. As long as you are in line when the park closes, you will ride no matter how long the wait.

Or, you could shop on Main Street until midnight.

I guess I'm not sure what you are asking. Why is the park closing at that time? What time should it close?

10 days at DLR is a great amount of time for you to enjoy. Have a wonderful trip!

Lots of Arizona schools start the week of August 6th.
Los Angeles Unified starts August 14th.

Yepp I don't live in Anaheim, but two hours away and last year the schools around here got out June 4th and went back August 20th.

This year was a little different where they got out June 18th and go back September 4th - which still sucks IMO. The whole time I was in high school we always went back early August, but at least we didn't have to wait until June 18th to get out!

When I was in school we got out the second week of June and went back the day after labor day. Considering summer starts anywhere from late June to early July here I thought I was pretty lucky... it doesn't start feeling very fallish until mid September/early October!

The change of one hour will have very little effect on my family's plans, I was mainly just curious why Disney would reduce park hours during perhaps the busiest month of the year, right before the middle of August?

Seems very odd to me, but I thought someone here probably knew the reason. Guess not, but thanks for all the replies.

I found it odd as well and guess they will change it if for no other reason than having DL and DCA both close at 11PM will put a strain on the tram system.

Also, as of just now I only see Aug 13 on the calendar and no dates past that. I suspect it will bump to midnight on Aug 13 once the calendar is updated further.

Just a guess, but it's possible that they expect DLR to be less crowded the week of Aug. 13 - 17 (relatively speaking). I hope I'm not jinxing it.

FWIW, I just noticed that on Monday, August 20, DL is scheduled to be open until midnight (according to the DLR Calendar). (That's the day that the SoCal APs become unblocked.)

We are northern CA and my kids and nieces toens start back Aug 6.....we get Friday before Memorial weekend. I know lots of schools around here start first or second week of August. My son's friend just moved and he starts July 31!!! School could be the issue. For whatever reason a lot of schools are starting earlier.

Just checked the DL Schedule again, now the entire week of 13-17 DL closes at 11, then, staring the week of the 20th it's back to closing at midnight.
