Is there anything we can to help ourselves endure the heat and humidity this coming August? Other than the obvious lots of water, going back to the room midday and ducking into air conditioned rides and shows.

Not much more than what you said, just drink plenty of water.

Yep.......go as early as possible, drink lots, then drink some more, stay in the shade where you can and go in anywhere air conditioned when you need too.

It's not actually that bad when you're there.........you get used to it very quickly :thumbsup2

Ok, that last part- Disagree. I did not get used to it at all. It was worse than I could have imagined.

But, I live in Syracuse where it just climbed above zero.

Fair enough :thumbsup2

But for us that doesn't get anywhere near those temps or humidity anytime of the year.........WE get used to it real quick.

Ride the water rides more. Walk through those water spouts that are around the parks (there is one on city walk and I believe one in cartoon alley). Also those fans with a water bottle that spray mist.

We have done three consecutive August trips (2012, 2013 and 2014....the last one was a two-week stint) and in addition to what's already been noted here, moisture-wicking t's (like Dri-fit) and light bottoms (no jean shorts :faint:) are a must. Long hair worn up will help immensely. DH also likes his misting fan.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. You can sweat that stuff off in a heartbeat. And if you're lily white like we are, buy the highest SPF you can find. We never use less than 100 and can still manage to burn.

We're from the north, so we feel the heat and humidity REALLY badly (for the record, yesterday it was -32 degrees celcius here, which is -25.6 degrees Farenheit for my American friends). We don't really get used to Florida's oppressive summer temperatures, no matter how long we stay...that's why we incorporate as much "wet" time into our August trips as we can (pool, waterparks, etc.).

We went to WDW this past August and the only thing that provided us a little relief was the Frog Togg's we ordered off of Amazon.

I think it really depends on how much heat you can take. I live in Houston and even though it gets really hot here, we never stay outside during the heat of the day.

We went to Orlando last year during August and I can tell you that my wife will never allow us to go again. We managed through it, but she and the kids were miserable the whole time except during the mornings. We are now only going back during the Spring or Fall now.

We also used the misting fans and found those truly wonderful but you have to put them in lockers before riding.

We are also from the north where our summer temps rarely reach above 76 degrees. That doesn't stop us though when we go to Florida in August which we have done 5 times now with another August trip coming up in 2015 :goodvibes.

Just take advantage of air conditioned rides in midday. Use misting fans. Get express pass because a lot of Universal's rides do not have air conditioned lines......sometimes you are even in direct sunlight :scared:. I love it though and the heat doesn't slow us down at all.

It's hot and humid. But I don't think it's that much worse than June and July. You're talking about a degree or two difference and a bit more humidity.

Drink water and accept the fact that you're going to be sweaty and you will be fine. We usually go in either May or August. It feels hot and humid to me in both months.
