August crowds

I will be visiting Disney in early August for a few days -- I'll be with my husband at a convention at CSR -- and I'm trying to figure out how to use the time most efficiently. I'm really concerned about the amount of crowding there will be since I know we're going at one of the very worst times of the year. I like the idea of going very early to whatever park has morning EMH and then going back to the resort for a swim and a nap at 11:00 or 12:00. During less crowded times we could just go back to whatever park we were interested in at 4:30 or 5:00 but how will that work in August? Fastpasses are gone by that time, aren't they?

How are the parks on very crowded days when there are evening EMHs? I'm a nite owl so the time appeals to me but aren't the parks mobbed by people who are there to see whatever fireworks show is scheduled? It looks like the shows are scheduled to begin at whatever time the park closes. Does it clear out (somewhat) after the show is over?

I'd love any advice since I'm a near-newbie at Disney.

We went the first week of August last year, and were pleasantly surprised on crowds.

Night EMH tip: False queue (line wait) times are posted a ton, use common sense.

CMs had us thinking ToT was a 130 minute wait when it was walk on ;)

I cannot stress common sense at Evening EMH enough.

Also, go to parks that had Evening EMH the morning after.

The planning tips here will help :thumbsup2
