August car rental rates

I have been trying to get a decent car rental rate for Aug 3 to 9th. Compact is running around 408 plus tax and fees. I have rented a compact in MCO for 7 days for $75.00 in the past. Anybody finding any good deals?

I got lucky a few days ago and found a full size through Alamo for $237 incl taxes and fees, Aug 5th to Aug 12th. It's now $424
I'm still hoping to see rates come down a little more as it gets closer, so be patient and keep checking regularly.

I am waiting myself. I noticed today that they have gone up $150 or so since I last checked about a month ago. I think you pretty much have to wait until a couple of weeks before for the price to come down.

THese are the rates I just found at MCO thru Budgets site. Compact $195 (264 with tax), Econo $205 (275 with tax), Prmium/Standard SUV/Minivan $225 (299 with tax) and you get $30 back at return.

Thankfully we rented our full size SUV from Alamo last Sept and got it for $312 for 9 days with a free extra driver through our BJs membership. Just tried the Budget codes/coupon for the mini-van and still can't beat the current rental we have with Alamo.

It should just say coupon applied. That means when you return the car if its in good condition you get your $30 back at time of return to the best of my knowledge. So if the price was $298 like in my case its actually $268 when you get the thirty bucks back. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the code. It is $299.24 with tax for 6 days with a minivan. Hopefully rates will go down some more but it is good to have a reservation just in case.

[Edit] Was able to change flights and extend 2 more days. So now the prices is $359.41.

I price lines 5$ a day I think for a stanard and it was approved 2$ more they upgraded it to a full size. so 7$ a day plus I think another 4$ or so taxes and fees. I have had a ton of sucess on Price line.

No, I don't have a code - I just keep checking every day! One day the rates are high and some days they drop.... I just happened to find this one and booked it. When I was on the website and put in for my quote it came up as "Hot deal"....Just keep checking, it will probably drop again. The rate I got is for a compact car!
