August ADRs

I have been looking at ADR availability the last couple of days out of curiosity and have been discouraged to see a lot of the restaurants I am planning on booking having no availability. We arrive August 31. Are things really booking up right at 180 days or before? I know I’m looking at some hard to get places, but still surprised. Ohana, CRT, Artist Point, and BOG Dinner. I was going to try for Artist point earlier in our trip and Ohana mid week. I think I should try to book in this order Artist Point, Ohana, CRT and then BOG.

I just had my 180 day this week and I have never had a hardier time getting reservations for late august! I am staying 8 days and could not get Artist point/Storybook at ALL! I was only able to get CRT for 8:15pm which is not ideal but it was the only request from my 7 year old so I took it... I was able to get Ohana easier than BOG. I ended up grabbing a BOG a few hours later something opened up. My experience this week I would do AP/Storybook, CRT., BOG and then Ohana. Of course this all depends on how important the places are too you too

I wonder what it is this year. Maybe the free dining being released earlier than usual and more people are already planing for more ADRs?

I just booked my ADRs yesterday for 12 people. We arrive on Aug 22. I couldn't get the site or app to work so I had to wait until 7am to call. This is the order that I booked them:
1. Storybook Dining 4:25 on our 7th day
2. CRT- 8:30pm on our 4th day and had to split us into 2 groups
3. BOG 11:05am on our 6th day- I had wanted this for our 2nd day but there was no availability
4. Ohana- 7:50 am for our 4th day- this one was for 17 people
I also booked T-Rex, Homecoming, Whispering Canyon, and Cape May Cafe breakfasts after the above. Those had plenty of availability.
I was pretty happy with what I was able to get especially with 12 people so there is hope! Good luck!!

Not sure what your party size is (mine is only 3), but I booked online at 6am at 180 of the first day of my 10 day trip and got everything I wanted except 1, including Artist Point on the first night (I tried for 6:30pm and the closest time was 7:05, which I took). I also got Ohana for night 3, 6pm. I booked CRT a week after my 180 with plenty of availability (breakfast). The only ressie I couldnt get was California Grill Brunch...only on Sundays 10 - 1. My trip is 08/09 - 08/19.

I have a short trip, from 7/28-8/1 and also had no problems getting dinners at Ohana and Artist Point, breakfast at BOG and lunch at Liberty Tree. All were booked at the times and on the days we wanted. I was really surprised at the abundance of availability. CRT and BOG have good dinner times as well- but with a short trip, we won’t be able to take advantage of it.

I usually don’t rush to make reservations, because we’ll often eat at ESPN or pick up food in the hotel shop, go offsite, or make something if we have a villa. Normally, 2 TS are good per trip-we are not big eaters. I did assume the free dining would cause restaurants to fill quickly. Seems that might be happening later in August.

I am arriving the same day and looking for two of the same ADRs. Figure I am going to try for Storybook first and bump it later into the week than I initially wanted if I can find availability. Ohana will be my second - was hoping for arrival day but not super optimistic.

The only reservation I had trouble with with Artist Point.

CRT we booked in two reservation because of the pre paying, the other family didn’t do there’s till noon and had no problem getting it.

I only had trouble with California Grill brunch. I was looking for a table for 3 for 8/25. I’m going to keep trying to get that one! All the other reservations I was able to get fine.

Today was my ADR day and I was pretty nervous especially since we have a short stay but there was a lot more availability than I’ve seen over the last week so if you’re checking in on Aug 31 you may be in good shape!

Edited to add: we got PPO BOG, PPO GG, CRT dinner, Cali Grill dinner, and FOLK Tier 1. I also checked and could have booked a Cali Grill brunch but didn’t because with the short stay we just don’t have time for it.

Today was my ADR day and I got my Storybook I was looking for. Did not get 'Ohana for arrival day but just moved it to a different day, no biggie.

Great! I didn’t get the time I wanted for Storybook, but it will work out ok. I moved Ohana from day 1 to 5. Still excited!
