August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Packing? Isn't that what I'll do the afternoon and evening of August 6? ( we leave for Vancouver August 7) :lmao: :rotfl:

You could also do it the morning of Aug. 6 to free up part of your afternoon or evening. But then you could go wild and pack the evening of the 5th to have the entire day of the 6th free. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Or wake up on the 7th, throw a few things in the bag and go :rotfl2:

I leave Aug 6 so the 5th will be laundry and packing.. I will stage things that are clean during that week so no one wears them.. but with alaska that will be easier than FL ..since rain gear and long pants are worn in the summer.. i hope..

Good point! You never know when people might pop into Seattle for the night! ;) :lmao:

hmmm, there's a thought! The train leaves at 7:45 in the morning, since I'm normally at work at 5:30, that gives me PLENTY of time that morning! :rotfl:

What are people planning to bring? I hope cruisers before us tell us what they wore. I don't want to bring any more than we actually need. Fleece/sweaters/sweatshirts - yes. raingear - yes. clothes for dinner - yes. But in August will we need boots? hats and mittens? shorts? short-sleeve shirts? :confused3

We are flying AirCanada which does allow free checked bags, but still.... you have to haul it all around before the cruise and store it in the cabin!

We'll each pack a mix of what all you have mentioned. I may just wait and buy a sweatshirt in Seattle or Vancouver so it's one less thing to pack. DH & I are bringing waterproof shoes, gotta figure out what DD will bring for the 3 AK ports.
This is another cruise where layers will come in handy. Plus there's always the self-serve laundry onboard so we can pack less clothes.

Flip flops won't cut it? :rotfl2:

Since she has Ugg flip flops they should work to keep the bottom of her feet warm. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

But the bigger problem is that if I wear my waterproof shoes then I have to wear socks :scared1: :sad1: :sad2:  :headache: . I HATE socks.

We have a little question-there will be 10 of us on this cruise 9 adults and a 15 year old girl (a bit shy). Are there any girls around the same age on our cruise? Any who've cruised before and like the teen club?

We have a 17yo who spent time last summer in the Teens club while on the Baltic. Our DD12 thinks of Barb's DD17 (also on the Baltic cruise) as another older sister.

Our 14yo DD will be on the cruise. This will be her 9th DCL cruise, but first time in the Teen club. She is looking forward to it and meeting new friends!

Yup, we have the other 17yo 'big sister'. So there's several girls around your DD's age.
Now she does get picky about the teen club but tends to spend more time there on longer cruises than shorter cruises. We were on the Dream last month on a 4 day cruise and the only time she was in there was not long after we board to look around. She even missed the free smoothies last month :scared1: :sad2: . Now for this cruise she may not be in there much since, I'm sure, she'll be hanging around DJ Frankie when he's out and about working. :rotfl2:

Thanks so much-I hope we can meet you all!
We don't want her to feel she has to "hang out" with the adults.
