August 8, 2010 double dip!

:welcome: to all the new cruisers. The FE list is growing! :cool1: I have plenty of gifts so if anyone else is lurking, please join in the fun.

Yes, more the merrier! It will be a lot of fun putting the FE gifts together and stuffing them into different FE's! :goodvibes

Where is everyone getting their FEs? Are you buying or making them? Where can I buy one at?

Thanks:banana:

I am making ours..... man, it is a tedious process! I am used to sewing with a pattern - this is "freehand" - no pattern.....,

I am planning to buy the FE from gradysmommy on Ebay. I think they are around $35. They look really cool :)

Tell me about the Pirate Night. Do we need to dress up or bring anything special?

Tell me more about the Fish Extenders. Is this something that alot of people do? My hubby isn't too sure about it and needs some reassurance that this is not frowned upon by the cruise line.

Sorry to have so many questions but I'm so excited...and I'm a planner!!!

We have cruised several times before on other cruise lines and we have always been chosen to sit at the captain's table for at least 1 meal. Does DCL do this or have a social hostess?

Also, we are taking the Magical Express from the port on the last day to our hotel at WDW. Does anyone know how early it arrives to pick you up?

About the day at the Bahamas - I have a 3 year old and 4 year old - is the waterpark at the Atlantis hotel age appropriate for them or do you recommend something else?

Formal night - for men - tux or suit or sport coat??? Also, should I eat at Paolo that night or enjoy the Formal night in the main dining and eat at Paolo another night/day?

Do the little girls dress in Princess Dresses or regular shorts/shirts during the day?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

There is a thread that I read somewhere that talked about someone meeting the Captain while passing out FE stuff and he commented something about "Making last minute deliveries?" That doesn't sound like it's frowned upon!

mkgal,

There is no formal night on our cruise, just a semi-formal night. We are doing Palo that night. No tuxes needed in either place.

I don't know much about the princess dresses - I can tell you my 3 year old will be in shorts during the day, but will wear a dress (not princess) for dinner and the shows. I imagine if they want to wear princess dresses, dinner/shows would be most appropriate, and perhaps to the meet-n-greet with the princesses.

Certainly you could dress up for Pirate night, of just wear some pirate motif things. I wouldn't miss that for Palo since you haven't cruised DCL before.

Hope it helps, and I am sure someone else will chime in on the other topics. We are staying on the ship at Nassau, so no idea about the Atlantis question you have.

As you can see from our signature line, we have cruised a few times before, so ask away...

Not only are FE's permitted, they are extremely popular...we have had over 50 cabins involved before...lots of fun really, especially for the kids..

Sorry, but never have seen a Captain's table on DCL...

Formal night...not on this trip...generally only on 7 day trips or longer...

Semi-formal might well be known as semi-informal...some people will dress nicely as should be the case, but a lot would be considered casual by many...sport coat for men and nice outfit for ladies would be appropriate..

Princess dresses...well we have a son, but generally I'd say save the dresses for the evening and have shorts for the day...especially since this is August and it will be hot...

Have not been to Atlantis water park, but have been to Blizzard Beach/Typhoon Lagoon many times...and from what I have seen and heard about Atlantis, especially given the price, 3 or 4 is probably too young to get much out of it...

As to Pirate Night, there is no rule about dressing up, but yes, most people will dress at least a bit towards the theme...easy to get pirate t-shirt or the like...a few people will wear full costume, but most will not go that far...

Missed the Palo question...Palo is by far the best meal on the ship...by choice, we tend to miss the Animator's Palate Night b/c it is our least favorite meal, but, since this is your first trip, I suggest scheduling Palo for the Parrot Cay night, if possible as Triton's is usually considered the best of the 3 main restaurants, and if you have not been to AP, well you should go for the entertainment value if nothing else...also, I think there is a brunch if i recall, and that is also not to be missed...we always book at least one Palo dinner and the brunch (if there is one)...

Chuck,

Think they'll bring me some Parrot Cay food when we dine in AP? I'm with you - I like the AP menu the least, but we can't have DD3 miss the show since she's never seen it. We have requested TAAPT and plan on missing PC for Palo (Triton's is my fave rot dining), so I wonder if our servers would bring me a PC entree & dessert in AP???

Wow! Thanks for the great responses! You guys really answered my questions!

I'm going to try to talk my DH into participating in the FE! I think it sounds like fun so keep your fingers crossed that he will agree!

I scheduled us for dinner and brunch at Paolo - I guess I won't know our rotation until we get on the ship - is that correct?

Any other suggestions for Nassau with a 3 and 4 year old? Is staying on the ship the best option?

I know there was an earlier post about someone who had Navigators - did they get posted? Where?

thanks again!

I was not sure at first about the whole FE thing, then I saw how excited my daughter got. I was sold.

My vote would be to stay on the ship.

There are a couple posted from the June sailing.

I'm trying the "quote" buttons for the first time....hope I'm doing it right!

I think I may go ahead and do the FE "for the kids sake" :) It sure sounds like fun who am I to not go along with DIS traditions!

My vote would be to stay on the ship.

I think that may be the best thing to do after reading the Navigators. I think they will have more fun on the ship! We can do a waterpark anywhere!

(It's not letting me quote the links because I only have 7 posts...apparently you have to have 10 posts before you can list links or pics)

These were so valuable! Thanks for the links...you saved me alot of time!
