August 7th, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise

Welcome aboard Mamie We also have a DD who just had her 14th birthday. Feel free to ask your questions!

Thanks for the Welcome :) Do you think we could work out a way for our girls to talk before the cruise? My daughter claims she didn't have tons of fun on the last one because she didn't make any friends. She's so excited to be able to go to the stack this time.

Does anyone know if there are 11 night med cruise navigators on this board anywhere? I would really love to know which nights certain shows might be on, for excursions. I really don't mind missing most since we have seen tham before, but I have not seen Villians yet and I don't want to miss that one.

The Stack's formal age border starts at 14 yrs, instead of the Aloft which allows teens from 13 yrs old so I hope they will allow your DD. According to ou DD there were 12 yrs allowed in the Aloft.

I will PM you.

Hello, just popping by to your thread as we are thinking of adding this to our 8 night Dover to Barcelona cruise. The answer to your question is yes, the 11 night navigators are HERE about halfway down the page.

Welcome Mel, thanks for the nav's and the more souls the better!

Have a Disney Day! Zipadie...

wow so much has gone on since last time I was on. School is over for the year. I don't have to be back at work until August 24th. Whoa!. Nothing like being a teacher in the summer. But come March it is tough.

We here on the west coast still have not really had warm weather. One day all summer and it was in the low 70s. I am taking 20 8th graders to WA DC /NYC on Sunday and I keep reminding them to take sunscreen. We are shrivaled here in Washington state.

Still no ideas for Corsica. I have been looking all over the web for ideas of what to do.

Oh, my neices who I hve traveling with are 8 and 10. The 8 yr old is kinda a tomboy and the 10 year old is a girly girl. Both are Disney kids clubaholics!

Hello all, new to Disboards and am glad to see a thread for this cruise I will be traveling with my DH, DS (12)autistic, DDs (10 and 4mo.) and last but not least DG (Disney Grandpa) :woohoo: We've never been to any part of Europe and are so excited to see it all, and what a great way to do it, on board our favorite cruise liner! We will also be on the Dover to Barcelona cruise July 30 to August 7th, so we are going to be taking full advantage of the laundry facilities.

We will also have our Disney Grandpa on board:love:. And my sister and I (leaving husbands at home) and my sister Ginny's 4 kids - DS 12, DD10, DD 8, DS 6. I volunteered to go and help out my sister (my kids are a senior in HS next year and a junior at PENN). My youngest did not want mom around this summer do I am off to Virgina for a week with my sister's family and then off to Europe. My sister, Ginny, has never been to Europe and I have been hearing about it since the 70s when I got to go on a school trip to Spain and she didn't get to go to France when she turned 16. She has never let me forget it. So dad decided to right a 30 year arguement between us and take us and her kids on a Disney European adventure. I so love my dad, and now that my mom is in a home with alzheimers, he needs to get out.

You will notice us. I am the short fat one and my sister is the skinny gym instructor. Hopefully all you will notice is that we will have a drink in our hand and be having a great time.:cool1:

:lmao::rotfl: Sure I need that 2 for 1 also. Our youngest age 8 is sometimes a tomboy and at times still a princess so probably she will meet your nieces inthe Lab!

Starting to think packing... ok I am bored now that I am at home for the summer and not on the go 24/7. I go, go, go, all school year and then plop done with only clean my house t do (and seriously, who wants to do that!). My wakeup clock inside me still gets me up before 5am, ok 6 this morning and I tink I am going back to bed.

I'm so jealous! I still have to get up at 6 am 5 days in a row til august 4th. No holidays anymore in between. But I know that when I arrive at the job, first drop of DD at school then join in in the daily traffic jam to Amsterdam I will have a nice day with my collegues so that's worth it. I know that I.m not going to be a happy mom when I do not have my job so we struggle on.:cool1:For us it's 48 days till we leave for the cruise....

I'm so jealous you live near Amsterdam! Visited it once in 1999 while we were living in Germany. Such a gorgeous place.

Yes, lived in Amsterdam during my studieseconomics and worked there for over 20 years now. We choos to let our girls grow up in a smaller village with good shools in the woods and near water and an airstrip Hubbie is an private pilot and our eldest DD is going to get inroduced to glider flying in th next weeks.
Have a disney day!

We did it, too! We moved down to CAT 12 GTY. We saved over $3900.00 from switching from a CAT 11 to CAT 12. Apparently, we should be back in a CAT11 room. This will help us out, too. The flight cost was very expensive.

Unfortunately, I lost the beach club in Malta and will keep trying again. Other things opened up. So, overall, it was better.

Palo's and Spa time selections were better.

Very exciting!

I am just about to pack the car and drive to the airport for 5 days with students in DC/NYC. If I survive the 5 hour plane ride I will have no problem. I can survive the 16 hour lane ride to China I can do it to DC. Unfortunately this trip is only me as chaperone. We will have a fantastastic time.

Wish me luck!

Has anyone on here booked a GTY cabin and gotten an assignment yet? I'm so excited to see where our room will be I can hardly stand it! :yay:

We are cat 11, and just got our room assignment *disappointedly* - may be thinking about upgrading, we will see...

Is anyone else showing the cruise as booked up??? Going to call DCL and ask this afternoon - but as of this moment, it won't let me change rooms or anything :(

Hi, I am new on here, someone on the Cruise Critic boards kindly pointed me over here :)
Anyway we are on this sailing, just booked it on Monday on the Cat 12 GTY deal, I have logged into the reservation and seen the assignment....we got a Cat 9! I am really pleased :yay:

Does anyone know do we keep this now or can it still change? Thanks.

I am so excited about this cruise, and really pleased to have found this board :goodvibes

Had booked a cat 11 GTY and found out this morning we got rooms 2107 and 2109 cat 10's. It happens to be right across the hall from where we were on our Nov 09 sailing (2110). This will be our first time sailing w/o a porthole, but at least we now have the split bath so I should be happy!
My way of thinking was that on this sailing we wouldn't be in our rooms much because of all the time in ports, so why pay extra for the porthole? We'll see how it goes.

Welcome! You are so lucky! It can still change but once you have recived your luggage tags and confirmation booklet most of the times you keep that room, but it is not granted.
Good luck!
