August 7th, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise

So, as long as the price of this cruise doesn't go up more than 10% between now and May (and I doubt it will!) you can easily do this and get the advantage then. Even if you do use a TA, you will only have to have two reservations for a few days until the old one is canceled.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :cool1: :cool1:

So DCL would allow you to book onboard for the exact same itinerary and have two exact reservations (same date, same passengers, same cabin category)?

Yes -- they even knew that I already held one with a TA and was just waiting to get back and transfer the cabin assignment from the first one -- it was not a problem. So for a few days I did have two identical reservations for the same cruise.

That's great info! Thanks. Now I'm hoping prices won't go up between now and November so I can get 10% and an OBC.

Hello to all of you

Still negotiating with my husband if we shall book this cruise. We (DH42, DD5 and myself) had been on a 4-day cruise last summer and it was terrific. We live in Switzerland, Europe and spend last summer a few week in beautyful Florida.

This time we would like to cruise in Europe and I let you know as soon as we are definitely with you.

Hope you can make it! We were on the Med cruise with DCL in 2007 and had a wonderful time . . . .Disney really knows how to make a cruise special.

Hi!
We booked this cruise last week and planning has begun – after all it’s less than a year and a half away. I have been reading some past posts on DIS for information about the ports. I got so excited that I had to join in myself.

My two sons, who will both be 11 yrs old by cruise time, and I will be traveling. We’re leaving my husband at home this trip since he doesn’t like to cruise.

We have sailed only twice before - on Wonder 3-day cruises. I am most excited about the places I haven’t been – Barcelona, Malta, Tunis, & Corsica, but also can’t wait to share mainland Italy and France with my sons. We are on deck 5, Category 8

After doing a little bit of research, we plan to explore with a combination of “on our own”, private tours, and 1 or 2 DCL Excursions.

I’m looking forward to sharing trip planning with you all over the next 16 months.:goodvibes

Welome Aboard. :flower3:

Welcome aboard! We are also on deck 5 cat. 8 so we will look forward to seeing you around deck 5. Genny:)

We are booked on this cruise as well! I took a last-minute Mexican Riviera cruise about a year ago, and booked a different cruise while onboard. Then as soon as the Med itineraries came out, I had DL transfer the booking to this one!

I am very excited. We are going to the Med this year as well on Celebrity, but I'm also thinking ahead to this DCL one. There is vert little overlap with the ports.

We are thinking of flying in to Paris about a week before the cruise and renting a car to drive to Barcelona, while touring all the way. This would include a day at Disneyland Paris, of course! Is anyone else thinking of doing something like this?

Hi everyone,
We're booked as well. We have 3 Cabins. 6 adults and 3 kids!! Our plan is to fly into Barcelona a day early. We did the WB transatlantic, so had 4 days in Barcelona to explore. What a beautiful city. Once this cruise is done, our plan is to fly to Rome for 4 days to really explore!! We hoping to do mostly private excursions and maybe some on our own.

Welcome!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: We have not had so much cruise chat yet, but I am sure we will as this cruise gets closer. We were on the WB TA cruise in 2007 as well, and I agree with you about Barcelona:love::love::love:

Hi All,
We are booked, 3 cabins, 4 kids. DD will be 14 and SO thrilled to be able to go to The Stack. Also have DD 12. :dance3: Anyone have any advice on allowing a 14 year old girl to The Stack??? Alone??:scared1: Now that it is just a little more than a year away- I have so much to plan! I am sure we will all chat more as the time draws closer- Jen

Trying to decide if this is going to happen for us! What's been the talk so far and has everyone narrowed down their port excursions?

Welcome aboard (if you decide to do it!).

I did the Med cruise in 2007 and it was my favorite cruise ever -- and we did all excursions on our own, although I do know people who really enjoyed the DCL excursions as well. I think we are expecting to get more details from DCL regarding excursions for summer 2010 later this year.

One of things holding me back is feeling overwhelmed with the ports and choices and picking the right ones. Do we go with DCL for ease or do we go it alone? Thats why I keep doing the " YES NO YOYO"

How much should you budget for excursions? Since you have done this I would really love to hear what you and any others who have experienced this have to say!

Hi all,

It seems such a long time since I last posted on this thread (sorry). I've just gotten back from my 3 week trip to the states. So I have post holiday depression at the minute:rolleyes1

Whilst I was on the Aug 1st cruise I rebooked this cruise - I was allowed to keep the same cabin and I saved $700 plus got the OBC:thumbsup2.

Its less than a year now till this cruise. :thumbsup2

I recently booked the med cruise (with the kids free incentive)
We did the Disney Med Cruise in 2007 and did 1/2 the ports
on our own 1/2 with Disney. Rome is very easy to do on your own, but
Florence is over 2 hrs by train from the port so it was much easier to use Disney.
I created a planning website and have uploaded all the previous excursions
disney provide with their costs
