Whatttttt? I have never heard of anyone having their laptop confiscated at customs.....

Me, too! I know isn't that crazy? My husband told me that be prepared for my laptop to be confiscated. I thought he was crazy.

So, I called TSA and Department of Homeland Security this morning. I was on the phone for an hour with them. They told me to fill out this form. And, they said, yes, it was true that customs can confiscate a laptop if necessary. So, I googled it. It's part of Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA): http://in.reuters.com/article/idINIndia-50100320100713. Travelers will no longer be subject to indefinite confiscation of laptops and mobile devices by U.S. border agents, and will be allowed to be present when officials are reviewing stored information, under policies revised recently by the Department of Homeland Security. Previously, courts had ruled that U.S. Customers and Border Protection agents could search or confiscate devices for any amount of time, and with no probable cause. Under the revised guidelines: -- Agents are not allowed to keep laptops and mobile devices for more than five days, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

But now I am really stressed by this planned air traffic control strike on Saturday, we fly from the UK on Saturday I knew we should have planned to come in the night before, I always stress about flying in the same day as the cruise departs. I am going to check it out and call the TA in the morning and see if we need to switch the flights to Friday. Deep breaths needed.

Sarah she just whipped one up in 30 min. Take that stress away! It is really cute. Colorful mickeys and your names on it. She does this as a side job to pay for things her kids need. I was amazed at how fast she put it together and that she had all the supplies on hand.

We are off at noon tomorrow!

We are also heading out to the airport tomorrow with a stopover for a day in Philadelphia. Then, headed out to BCN on the 5th. If anyone needs the graphics on the lanyards. I can print some out tonight. Send me a PM and I will get it to you when we meet.

I inquired if there would be a problem with my laptop and my phone back into customs.

I just spoke to the Department of Homeland Security and they informed me that I need to fill out a Form 4457 (Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken Abroad). This form can be found on www.cbp.gov. Then, click on Forms. Scroll down to 4457. The lady who was really nice told me to have someone at the port or at the airport inspect it and sign off on it before I leave.

Apparently, the customs have every right to confiscate the laptop and phone if they decide.

Thanks for the tip. I printed out the form with my items and serial numbers. They recommend it for any items that are recently purchased (less than 6 months). Better safe than sorry.

No...we booked it ourselves (for 1/2 the price....sorry Mickey, but we had to go indy on this one!) I'll just not worry about it......can't do anything about it, so we'll just go with the flow!

Got most of our stuff in the "staging room"....up to me now to made the magic happen, AKA getting it to fit IN the bags!

Am I crazy that I have a guy coming to paint the interior of my house on Thursday, and we fly out on Friday???? Hmmmmm....

Wow can't believe its so close - Everyone sounds really busy packing but finishing will have to wait till tomorrow for me. Got to catch some zzzz's first b/c I just finished a 12 hr day at work - love the extra hours when we're about to head on vacation

Thanks for the tip on the laptops - I didn't even think about that.

My DD is doing the same thing. She is afraid to fly. I think that she just wants to be on the cruiseship right now.

Me & my dd12 are the same way. In fact I've been blocking it out so I just realized yesterday that when we land in Barcelona at what will be 8am their time - will actually be 2am for the kids. Should be an interesting couple days.

And I have a couple extra FE things for whoever it was that has the "miracle 30 minute FE" just let us know where you'll be.

- Packing *STILL* not done at all - DS is burning through too many outfits a day for me to even begin to think about packing for him - he will be last minute

- Not going to let myself freak about the ATC strike - too much else to freak about

- NOT got the FEE stuff done yet - there is just not enough time in the day it seems

- FE not made yet - but i Do have the material set out, so that counts, right?

- Have 3 big social obligations tomorrow - so tomorrow is not in the cards for getting things done...

- TRYING to get BMW sold before we go - only to find out it has three lights that need replaced, and I just don't have the time to do it...

- i SHOULD be panicking at this point - but I won't be - not until thursday night

Okay, so I have pretty much been packed and organized for months, so WHY am I freaking out with anxiety I can't wait to sit on that plane and exhale. I can not believe this trip has finally arrived. Big day planned at work today to get everything wrapped up and then we head out to the airport tomorrow. I can't even explain how excited I feel, but I know you all feel the same way. It has been so great chatting with you all over these last months...I can't wait to meet you all this week!
