August 7, 2005 WONDER 4-night Bahamian Cruise

Beckie, thanks for asking about DH. I spoke with him this morning and he is fine. He is in Cairo and Sharm El Sheik is about 8 hrs away. It was kind of scary listening to the news repoorts and knowing all the places they were referring to. We were there 2 yrs ago. Such a beautiful place. To tell you the truth, I was more scared of the BIG thunderstorm we had last night. I'm such a wuss!! :scared1:

I'm so glad he called and is safe, it's just that until a week ago I only knew one other person that had traveled to Egypt. Then...I'm going Nina's husband just left and they have visited this area.

Is he a "softy" husband, isn't he ?!

We will wear these buttons at our DIS meeting near the Goofy pool, so it will be easier to recognize us !!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Laura :wave2:

Thanks for all the good wishes about DH. Haven't talked to him since yesterday, but I'm sure all is well. He is busy working, so he doesn't have much time for fun over there. By the time he gets home, I'm sure he will be ready for a relaxing vacation. He loves the cruise part.

Kim, welcome. So glad you found us. Hope we all get to meet up.

Laura, love the buttons. You will be easy to spot.

I have not started packing yet, but my mind is whirling with little details. What suitcase to use for which person, what shoes will go with Julies dress. I can't decide weather to bring my black dress or my black skirt. So many little details to think about.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. See ya all real soon.

Nina :wave2:

Laura

Love the new DIS buttons, Marco is such a sweetie not Grumpy at all.

I haven't started packing yet, but like Nina I'm thinking about it. I keep telling Terry he needs to get his act together. He'll wait until the last minute before worrying about details. Then say "If you go out today will you pick me up a ______. " Then I freak out.

Off to worry about a few details,
See Ya Soon,
Beckie

Becki, DH (Sam) is the same way. Can't live with them and can't bury them in the backyard!!! I think men just don't worry about all those little details. It's so much easier for them, clothes wise. Pants and a shirt and they are good to go.

Just got back from Target and picked up some dress shoes for Julie (dd,9) and some sandles. Ended up w/ black dress shoes, couldn't find any white ones. All the winter clothing is out already and summer stuff is slim pickins'. Got my self some t-shirts and a pair of shorts.

Well, off to put some kid furniture together.

:goodvibes Just started my " packing" list !!! :goodvibes

We are going to be away from home 23 days !!!! Lot of stuff we need !!!
I'll share some of our "do not forget" items with you all ... maybe you never leave at home "your essentials" ... I sometimes do !!!
(though I never left Marco behind !!!) :rotfl2:

:flower: travel light
:sunny: anti nausea patch ( maybe we don't need those, but I don't want to waste my cruise !!!)
:flower: addresses / phone numbers ( parents, friends ... and DCL, just in case we need to check with them - like we did last year / Charlie !! )
:sunny: my waist pack
:flower: extra film / batteries for camcorder / camera
:sunny: OTHER IDs ( we must surrender our passports upon check in )
:flower: my ITALIAN lip balm and sunburn relief
:sunny: 2 or 3 pens !!!!!! ( You never find one when you have to fill in some forms !!)
:flower: spare glasses !!!
:sunny: our DAY BY DAY planner ( any PS , Beckie ? )
:flower: umbrella ? poncho ?

Can you think of something else I might forget ? :confused3
Tell me, your help is very welcome !!!

:jumping1: Can't believe we are almost leaving !!! Marco and I (and our parents with us !!!) have been dreaming of this BIG vacation all year long !!!

See you all REALLY SOON !!!!!!!!!!

Yea right...SWEETIE, SWEETIE, SWEETIE.

Hi Marco (SORRY) DGH

Just sent a PM about the PS for WDW stay.

Howdy everyone, we just got our cruise docs and we are gearing up to head down Friday, 1035 miles straight down I95. 16 hour's in the car is going to kill me but at least it's for a worthy cause. We booked Paulo's too late to get a decent reservation, how do you get on a standby list?

Anyone else book a room at comfort suites on Paradise Island, I hear this is the way to go to use all the water activities at Atlantis.

Not to get off topic but we are staying in Disney the whole first week of August and we really want to take advantage of the EMH but all I keep reading is the crowds are awful! Are people really keeping their infants at the parks until 2:00 AM?

Is it true there are two shows on the Wonder? What is the time table? Will they be going on at the day at sea?

Luckybug, have a good safe trip down to WDW. Wave as you go through Maryland. :wave2:

We leave for DW next Thursday for a few days in the parks before our cruise.

Not sure what shows are on the Wonder, but I know that there is some type of show every evening. If you have late seating, you go to the first show, early seating, you go to the late show. Also, can't help with EMH, have never done that. You might want to ck out the Theme Parks and Attractions forum for that info.

Have a great trip and we'll see you on the Wonder!! :boat:

Oh, forgot about your Palo ?. You might try to book something once you get on board the ship. I'm sure the online ressies are put out in a limited amount, so that people can still book onboard ship.

hi everyone--it's been a couple days since i chatted with you. hope everyone is well. i am of course counting the seconds until we take off!! only5 more days at work to go (i work 12 hr shifts--registered nurse)!!!!

laura, i think you asked about my son---his name is KAI.
we are not doing a land/sea package. JUST THE CRUISE!! wish i had the time and money to be able to do the package deal---maybe next time.

just realized each of our staterooms has a $50 onboard credit for booking through AAA! wooo--hoooo!

well, just finished my morning workout--MUST SHOWER! i am training to walk---YES,WALK---a marathon in september. (my knees just don't want me to run!) strength training and a short walk this morning. i think thursday morning this week will be a 16 miler. :p

everyone have a good one!!!

BODE--my niece, maddy will be traveling with us. she is 6 yrs old and would probably love to meet your daughter!!!!

:wave2: As far as I know there should be 3 shows:

1) Hercules (embarkation day) - it's worth to watch the show ,because this will be the last time you have the opportunity to see it. It has been replaced by another show on the Magic and the same will happen on the Wonder soon.
Be sure to (re)view the movie before boarding :)

2) The Golden Mickeys (Catsaway day), a show that takes place in a Hollywood environment, performing Academy Awards Disney cartoons.

3) Disney Dreams, the last day, the best show.

:flower: IMHO every show is worth to see !!! :flower:

You can have an idea of the on board activities checking a previous "Navigator". See for instance
