August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Thanks for the article, Barb...that's interesting.

Cathy, yes....we held Jordan back after 7th grade, made her repeat it. She's on the younger end for her grade anyway, and it really helped her.
They have always had a ceremony here. We never did back in Nebraska. Their dress code said "No halters, No spaghetti straps, No bare shoulders" if they have a dress like that, they have to wear a sweater or shawl. Thank goodness "shrugs" are in style....We had a hard time finding a "decent" dress. She ended up with a strapless white cotton with red kind of tropical flowers and a red ribbon at the bodice. We got a white loose-knit shrug to go with it.
She's really excited about it. I went to Hallmark to get Mother's Day cards and her birthday card (Jordan)....and they even had cards for 8th grade graduation, so I bought her one. I swear, Hallmark has a card for everything!

30 days from today and my family will be at Disneyland!! A little "preview" before the trip after the cruise. I called Disney Resorts today, and requested a specific room. I've never tried to do this.....but the CM said he didn't see a problem with it. It's the same room on floors 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6......so we may stand a good chance. I like it because it looks at Grizzly Peak and Paradise Pier since it's on a corner....and it's a standard room but bigger than most standards. It will be interesting to see if I get it.....they don't "block out" rooms in advance.

Off to bed....it was a long day. I actually had to work today! :confused3

Barb: Thanks for sharing the article! Brynée is still kinda disappointed that though this is a Disney Cruise she won't get to be at Castaway Cay :sad1: I should have looked into a land/sea vacation last year when we went to WDW. Maybe I'll rebook while on board for 2007 and call it a graduation gift for her ; we are planning an Alaska cruise for next summer.

Stacey: That is so cool for Jordan to be a major part of her graduation ceremony :cool1: She must be so excited and you must be so very proud! You might be able to get a graduate Mickey antenna ball when you are in DL :earsboy: I'll wave up to your room on May 26th; I have been asked to accompany an autistic student to Grad Nite on that night along with another specialist. I think it will be fun; except I do remember how tired I was after my own Grad Nite and that was 30 years ago!! DL does put out specific Grad Nite merchandise only during the Grad Nite hours - if you'd like me to pick up something for Jordan just PM me - older DD got a great Mickey Ears graduation cap with a tassel attached :earsboy: and her BF got a grad nite beanie (no ears) I read your response to a spa question on another thread - which spa treatment is your favorite??

Hope everyone is having a good week! Brynée is back on for prom and amazingly is not stressing too much!

Hello every one.
I am Kazu.
It is very fine today.

Thanks your respons Eve.
Nice to meet you.

By the way
My wife,2daughters and son can not speak english.
I can speak English just a little.

A lot of Japanese are good at writing and reading English. However, they are not good at speaking English. I think that I am the one person.
But,I am looking forward to meeting and talking you on the cruise.

We will get to LA on August 5.
Then,We will go to Disneyland and one night stay at DISNEY GRAND CALIFORNIAN hotel.

We will be deck 6 on the cruise.

See you soon.

Barb - Thanks for the article, I don't know why, but I got teary reading it...

Stacey - Jordan must graduate earlier because you go back in August? Jess' graduation isn't until June 22nd with all the snow days! :cold: They have a separate awards ceremony with just their team (100 kids) on June 7th, both things are 8 to 9:30am so I have to go in to work late. We don't know what awards yet, but they tell the parents ahead of time. I know what you mean about the dresses, we have a strapless one too with a light sweater. :)

I found this info on another thread about the new Disney Dollars:

New Disney Dollars celebrate the "Happiest Celebration On Earth"
Date: 04/26/2005

A new series of Disney Dollars designed specifically for the "Happiest Celebration On Earth" will be unveiled to Guests beginning May 5.

The commemorative bills will be issued in one, five, ten and fifty-dollar denominations, and will feature two versions of each bill (the latter version to be released in early 2006).

(Note: A special-edition Mickey fifty-dollar bill will be released on July 17, and limited to only 1,000.)

I'm going to ask a friend of mine to pick me up some of the new D$ when he goes back down in 2 weeks. I have heard that the Disney Stores will be getting them sometime in mid to late May.

Kazu, thank you for letting us know your wife and children do not speak English. I am looking forward to hearing more about TDL and TDS from you.
Have you been to Disneyland before? We are going to the parks for a few days after the cruise.

>Have you been to Disneyland before?

We never been to Disneyland resort.
We can not wait!

but
We go to Tokyo Disneyland,Disneysae 2 or 3 times a week.

...2 or 3 times a week, you must know everything about the parks.

Update on Disney Dollars that I found on another thread:

Dumbo is on the $1, Donald is on the $5, and Stitch is on the $10 (Mickey of course is on the $50). They will also be releasing a LE "Day of" $50 on July 17th.

I have to have a couple of the $1. with Dumbo on them. I will be asking my friend to get them for me. If anyone needs them and can't them easily PM me and I will see what I can do for you.

Barb - If you want me to purchase some D Dollars when I'm at DL for grad nite let me know. The AP passport book showed a $10 with the castle and Tink. I'm going to be looking for those :goodvibes . We may even be at DL before that as DD Traci celebrates her 20th bd on 5/20. She wants us to come down to her place to help her celebrate with DL or shopping! Also, a DISer in New Jersey won tickets to the May 4th event and might ship her 2 tickets to me...but she is on the Magic right now and won't return until Saturday.

Do you think the Magic will have Gold Mickey Ears for sale onboard? I can always pick up some of those also. My friend will be on the 7/2/05 cruise so I can get a lot of info and tips from her.

If anyone else wants any Grad Nite specific items, let me know as I'm sure my student, co-worker and I will be doing a lot of shopping :teeth:

English is a hard language to learn. I took Spanish in school and I could decipher the written language in some time but it is hard to catch the phrases when spoken quickly.

I've never been Disneyland before either and I am excited too. I have been to Disney World in Florida several times.

Jenny, thanks for the offer but my friend is back and forth between WDW and here all the time, his wife works down there. So it's no problem for him to pick them up for me.
Also, your DD's b'day is the same day as our anniversary. We will be married 17 years.

Another friend of mine picked up a pair of the golden ears and she doesn't like them at all. I haven't seen them yet. I may still have to get a pair just to have them. I think they are $9. each.

Here's a link to a shopping service that I've used in the past when I HAD to have something from Disneyland, but couldn't get there. They have the Gold Mickey Ears:

www.mouseshoppe.com

Jordan's graduation is May 25th, and we will be at Disneyland on the 26th. I'm guessing that they will close the park, and have it open just for Grad Night? Does that mean that the graduation items would only be on sale during those hours? My first response, Jenny, was to say "Yes! Get her the grad cap & ears".....but that's only because I think it would be cool. I don't think she'd care all that much. I don't know. Every time I try to guess what the kids would like, I'm wrong.

I still am sooooo disappointed about not being able to cruise with you all. I saw a post where a lady was asking for a roommate on one of the Mexican Riviera cruises, and if it had been THIS cruise, I would have taken her up on it! The kids have always gone back by the 20th of August. Starting this August on the 11th is stupid!

Okay...I'll calm back down. I think my favorite spa treatment is an aromatherapy facial, but I also like the Well-being massage. A bit of advice for anyone who hasn't used the spa.....take a look at the Rainforest first, before you decide to pay for it. I went in and looked around and decided I didn't want to lay on a tile bed in a steam room that a lot of other people had been laying (sweating) on....and the showers look nice, with the different scents, but they (and the whole room) are open to men and women at the same time.

Stacey, I agree about the Rainforest Room. I had those same feelings about it. We did the REAS and when we went for our massage they were describing the 2 to choose from (massage or shorter massage with facial) since we had just had a couples massage at the Grand Floridian a couple of days before we decided on the massage with facial. It was very nice but I wish we had chosen the other one. As much as I enjoyed the facial I would have preferred the longer massage. We're doing the Reas again and will go with just the massage this time.
Had a horrible week, could go for a massage now! A new Medical Assistant shows up to work on Tuesday saying she has meningitis, but "I'm not contageous, its not viral" but she has a note saying she can't work. Of course my boss is on a cruise so it leaves me to deal with it because the covering manager is only available by phone. Then yesterday she comes back, no release from employee health so again I send her home and get BIG ATTITUDE about it (mind you she's been employed there less than 2 weeks) so today I think I will be dealing with it again. And it leaves me with all of the documentation about it so she can be (hopefully) let go before her 90 days!
I think I'll repay my boss by leaving him a message that I am having meningitis symptoms! That will teach him to go on a cruise! Actually it'll give him a good laugh.
Vickie

Vickie, my oldest DD Megan is an MA.....and she doesn't have meningitis, can I send her and Pete (son in law) over there? Please? Don't believe it when you think they get married and are "on their own" !

QUOTE]

DL does close earlier on Grad Nites. It's either 6 or 8; I read 6 on another thread. The buses won't even leave Visalia until 7pm (it's a 3+ hour trip) and then will leave DL at 5:30 the following morning  But I do want to go to make sure my student who is autistic gets to be involved and do everything she may want to do.
DD Traci keeps her grad cap in a place of honor in her bedroom along with Homecoming mementos (she was a candidate - in the court but wasn't "queen.") It is really cute... just let me know. Usually DL doesn't have the "grad" items out for regular shoppers until after the numerous Grad Nites are finished. Also, thanks for the spa info; I had already decided against the Rainforest room as I have enough hot flashes as it is :rotfl:

Barb: Thanks for the link to the DDollars. The picture I saw is probably of the back side. I usually give out the dollars for Christmas gifts so I'll have to stock up!

Oops...found us on page 2.
We've been busy hanging artwork and buying more frames for things that still need to be hung up. I don't know if we will ever get everything in order.
I have also been selling a lot of things on ebay the last couple of weeks. I like getting spending money

I have seen the golden ::MickeyMo ears and think they are really ugly. I'm sure there are a lot of people that will like them, but I'm not one of them. At WDW they will still personalize them, they are using white thread.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. It's been very :umbrella: today.

Brynée got a pair but I passed on them. I think when you see a lot of people wearing them, then they don't look so bad. I do have a pair of Silver Mickey Ears from the DL 25th :earsboy:

If FedEx comes through, then Brynée and I will be at DL on Wednesday for the Sneak Peak event  The DISer in New Jersey will be sending them to me on Monday :bitelip: so I hope they will be here Tuesday.

Brynée is off to prom - her nail and hair appointments went smoothly - and she looked so grown-up and beautiful princess: I hope she is having a wonderful time!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend...it looks like it might rain again :umbrella: - I'm looking forward to Spring weather!!
