August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Barb,
Phil gave us his basketball post and net when he moved....we just don't know where to put it. I want to put cement in the small drive in front of the garage and install it down there. Jay doesn't necessarily want to install it at all! (that would be work, you know)

Sorry, guess I kinda snuck in there and got an "accidental" T.O.P.!!

Great weekend here too - beautiful weather....busy! While we're at it, anyone want to swap a 5 year old with a serious deficiency of "listening ears" for one equipped with them? Ugh, DS got in trouble at school today - just 2 days before parent/teacher conferences. :faint:

Okay Eve, I'll swap you one 15 1/2 year old with the attitude that if you don't like the English teacher you just don't try in the class for your listening deficient 5 year old! :confused3 Oh to have them little again!
Vickie

Sounds like we all want to 'swap' our kids. I guess we are all going for the 'parents of the year' award.

Stacey, DD would love to help you put up the hoop. I'm sure she could find just the perfect spot for it. She just needs to work on her pouty-face look, it just doesn't work like mine does.
Nice job, sneaking in and taking the T.O.P.

Jenny, it would be a supply of Disney Dollars, just NOT an endless supply :bitelip:

Ahhh, the "Fabulous Fives"........
I remember carrying a kicking, screaming 5 yr old Jared into Kindergarten one day, tossing him in the door, slamming it shut, and then holding it closed so he couldn't run back out!! Don't know why he didn't want to go, he just didn't....and I wasn't going to let him win.
The principal was outside and witnessed the whole thing. I thought the least she could have done was help me with the little brat!

Yes, and when they were 5, they had such a look of "pure joy" :cutie: on their faces whenever we were at Disneyland - wait - Brynee still does :goodvibes

Barb: As long as Disney Dollars cover a churro, :mickeybar , mocha frap, and a pin or 2, we're good to go

"Fabulous Fives"? Is that what it's supposed to be? What's so weird is that DD was a nightmare child - colic, 2 surgeries before she turned 2 weeks old, terrible breastfeeder, TERRIBLE 2's but by the time she was 4, she had settled down a LOT. DS, OTOH, was the perfect baby - hardly cried, was a champion feeder, no colic, the 2's weren't that bad but when 3 and 4 rolled around....UGH!:earseek: He's still trying to recover and he has his good days and his bad. With the 2 of them being such opposites, I have no idea what to expect during teenage-hood. Hmmm....maybe I'll retract my offer for swapping him out, or, at least just swap him out for another child of comparable age equipped with listening ears as a standard feature. ;)

There is no such thing as a male who comes equipped with "listening ears".;)

Eve,
Both of mine were fine through the 2's but when they turned 3 they both forgot how to listen and they forgot everything we had taught them so far (fingers out of electrical outlets etc). They still haven't found their listening ears! Well except when we are trying to have an adult conversation that doesn't include them, then of course they are all ears!!! :earseek:
Someday they may find them!

Well, we might just have to strike a bargain - no listening ears, no Mickey ears. Think that'll work?? ;)

MyDS is six and DD is 2 1/2 and my DS is so calm. The only problem we had in Kindergartenn was that he didn't want to do his work. He didn't understand why he had to do it if he already knew how to do it! We moved from VA to CA last January and the CA kindergarten teacher told us that Ryan wouldn't have to attend the rest of the school year and still go to first grade. I told him he still has to go and if he didn't do his work I would make him go to Kindergarten again. However........my DD gives me a run for my money!!!!! I knew Iwas going to be in trouble when the doctor at the hospital told me she had an attitude because when anyone touched her she would grunt at them. So needless to say after the first week home with a colic, horrible breastfeeder, and no sleeping baby, we swore that we would have no more kids. Still to this day she is an angel at home when it is just me , but when her brother comes home she goes WILD!!! She still doesn't sleep through the night. YUGH!!!! So I don't want to trade any of my kids because I know that my DD would be returned in 48 hours. :) But I have to admit everyday she is getting better. I think she is slowly moving out of the terrible twos. So by cruise time she should be alot calmer.

Just goes to show that not only have us Moms earned our "Ears"....we've earned our Wings, too!

I like my DD, but I would take others for visits. Jess wanted a little brother or sister at one point. What is a Xanga? I don't think she has one, where would it be? On her computer or in her closet? LOL I think they can discuss plays to get to know each other, maybe singing too.

Cathy

You know its funny how different they can each be. Sara is my little drama queen who cries at the drop of a hat, and we can't get her to keep her room clean but when it comes to homework she is right on it without even being told. On the other hand Kenney keeps his room clean and is pretty easy going but when it comes to homework its a constant battle. When all is said and done I wouldn't trade them for anything although its fun to joke about! :rotfl: Actually a time warp at about 18 months old would have been great! :wizard: I think back to those days and wish they could have lasted longer! Like someone else said, "that look of pure joy on their faces" at that age it was about everything!

I just think it's so funny how my confusion about the hubby's morphed into doing a child swap!:flower:

Speaking of earning our wings  - My cousin just e-mailed and she and her DH adopted a newborn :love1: ! Baby Stephen was born on Sunday and they are completing all the adoption paperwork! He is so cute and my cousin had waited such a long time to become a mother - she is 45.

Cathy: A Xanga is a web log - it's a online journal that others can read and leave comments. Jess probably doesn't have one...I check Brynee's every so often just to make sure everything is within reason. I'll PM you her IM name and Xanga name - we are both home today as Brynee was running a fever and I didn't want to leave her since nothing seemed to be bringing it down. She is feeling better now though. Her ENT Dr. put her on an antibiotic.

Vickie: Does Kenney have a Xanga? Or, if you think he'd might like to IM or e-mail Brynee let me know. Is he also a sophomore? Brynee has her driver's permit but won't be able to get her license until the end of June.

Yes Jenny, Kenney is a sophmore. He does not have his permit as he blew it with his english grade and that was one of the criteria for taking drivers ed/training. He will be 16 on July 18. He does not have a Xanga.
Tell your cousin congratulations on her baby! I hope everything goes well for them! Kenney is adopted too (don't know if I've mentioned it before). We were in the delivery room when he was born so it was very exciting for us! He met his Birthmother for the first time the end of February.

I know if Stacey and I are involved in a conversation it can take a turn in ANY direction , just watch out :earseek: .

Jenny, a very big congrats to your cousin & DH. My neighbors just adopted a newborn boy and he is now 3 weeks old and adorable.
They are so cute at that age.....why do they have to grow up so quickly?!?
