August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Royal Caribbean was supposed to sail out of Port Canaveral today. It's delayed until Tuesday, and they'll have 5 days onboard instead of 7....but each stateroom was given $500 shipboard credit, among a few other little goodies.
And that ship (the Mariner) has a huge shopping mall! I could do some damage there!

I think we are having outlying effects from the storm here. It is windy and getting darker and so much cooler than yesterday. they said effects should be felt as far away as 1000 miles - puts us on the edge of the effects.

I'm online with a friend of mine who is on the CP down there and she said right now it's calm and she's very bored. They have been confined to their apartments since yesterday and their pools have been closed since Wednesday  :( . She will be very glad when this is all over and she can get her training started and she can start working at Pecos Bill's.

Hi jilljill!
What's the CP.....and how are you feeling??

Sorry Stace, CP is the college program. My friend just went down last week to start her 4½ months of the college program. Students are interviewed at campuses all over the country to be able to work at WDW in various capacities. Instead of the cast member having a town on their name tag they will have their college or university in it's place.

I'm starting to feel a bit better. Although, if I talk or eat too much the pain really kicks in - you would think I would take the hint by now :smooth: . Extreme temperatures cause the pain too. The doc said it will be there for a couple of weeks, as well as the swelling.

I figured I could answer my way to a T.O.P. :Pinkbounc ::yes::

Hi Guys...it's me, Stacey. Now my DIS account is even messed up using MSN. This was supposed to be my DH's name.

Barb....sending a few things to help you feel a little better:

 :wizard: :flower3: :mickeybar :drinking1 :flower2:

Feeling better yet???

Well, I'm tired, and going to bed early. Maybe tomorrow I can get this computer thing fixed!

Good night all!

Thanks for all the smileys....sadly they aren't making me feel better, but they gave me a smile.

My DD who will be 16 and I will be on the Magic with you!! My DH doesn't want to be in full Disney mode for a week so it will just be the 2 of us! DD is hoping to hang out in the teen area as she had a great time in the teen area on our RCCL cruise last month. I think I'll try out Palo brunch but would like to find someone who would like to try it out with me! See you then!

Itinkso, Welcome! My DS will turn 16 a couple of weeks before we cruise. He really enjoyed the teen club on the Wonder! Also others about the same age!
Where in California do you live?
Vickie

Visalia - in the Central Valley between Fresno/Bakersfield. We went to WDW for spring break (our 2nd trip) and my DH just can't imagine full immersion on a cruise. He'll probably go to Las Vegas for a few days...our older daughter will be 20 and she isn't a fan like the 16 yr. old! We just went to a Giants game 2 weeks ago and the weather was beautiful!! It is much too hot in the valley!

Welcome Itinkso  , we have a great group here, albeit a small one. You will have a great time on the cruise and I'm sure one of us here would love to join you for brunch - especially Stacey or myself ::yes:: . I didn't make it to brunch on the last 2 cruises and I am really looking forward to it this time.

 Hi! Seems MSN is working with me today. This ought to be fun, bouncing back & forth between screen names! I'll have everyone confused. Myself included!

WELCOME Itinkso!!!!! I LOVE your name!

Girls' Brunch sounds great! DH isn't crazy about Palo (don't ask, long story) and I've never been on a 7 day, so I've not been to the brunch. Is there an age limit for the girls? Jordan will be 15, she would LOVE to go. She thought it was cool that she got to go to Palo for her sister's wedding reception. Made her feel special.
I'm hoping she can come, if we do the brunch.

Have a great day....I have some minor home repairs to do. I'll probably cause more problems that what I'm going to try to fix!

See you later,
Stacey

Girls brunch sounds great, although you do have to be 18 to go.

I'm sure I could get the ressie ahead of time for all of us since we are doing the REAS package. We will have to figure out a day that would work for all of us - but can we do that after we move in 3 weeks?!?

A girl's brunch would be great! I am sure my DD will be ditching me for the teen activities though I know she would love the gourmet food in Palo...she is addicted to crab! But, she doesn't look close to being 15 let only 18. Is anyone planning to do the Rainforest room? I thought I'd get the week pass for that for some quiet time and relaxation. Our RCCL cruise stopped in Ensenada and my DD wanted to return to the ship as soon as possible. I'm not sure she'll want to get off the ship at any of the ports...but she will be in heaven on the ship!!

Jenny, that's funny about your DD wanting to get back on the ship as quickly as possible. My DD, now 10, has informed us that she doesn't intend to get off the ship at any of the ports - she doesn't usually get off with us. I told her she has to get off at one of the ports for a little bit - she is quite reluctant to do so.

I have always said I was going to go to the Rainforest room and have yet to make it there. So the verdict is still out on that one.

Some rural areas of CA can look a lot like a depressed area of Mexico. It bothered my DD that we were constantly approached on the sidewalk to buy gum or have her hair braided. My older DD was nice and paid for a temporary tatoo - and it wouldn't completely scrub off for at least 2 weeks!! She was not too happy!! Our RCCL steward said the Caribbean ports are much nicer than the Mexican ports...RCCL advises taking fruit from the buffets to hand out to the children who are begging/selling packs of gum. I did look on the RCCl website to view the excursions for the 3 ports - some look interesting. I also checked out shoretrips website...but staying on the Magic will also be fine!

We haven driven down to Mexico quite a few times, and so we (and our kids) are used to it. I make it a good lesson for the kids to see how lucky they are for living the way they do.

I wouldn't be able to make my kids stay on the ship.....they must have inherited DH & my adventurous gene.

So...I didn't figure that even for the brunch they would allow Jordan. Guess Mom will get a little time to herself! I'm so disappointed. Not!
I'm hoping Jordan will be more willing to branch out on her own during the Christmas cruise, and then Mexico. She usually sticks to me like glue.

A LITTLE HEADS-UP FOR EVERYONE.............TOMORROW IS....

JILLJILL's BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

:cake: :daisy: :cheer2: :bday: :flower3: :cloud9: :thewave: :rose: :flower: :earboy2: :cool1:
