August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Wow, I missed a lot of posts while we were away in Maine this weekend. Congratulations on your daughter's engagement Jenny! I am trying to get through these moody teen years. Maine was very warm for this time of year, somewhat overcast but we saw some sun. We went antique shopping and found a few things. DH got a large metal basket thing on legs to plant in. I got some little colored glass pieces that I collect. We had a nice dinner Sunday night for our anniversary. We were comparing the service to the cruise, and then we were trying to think of our servers names from April and we couldn't!! I finally remembered Danny was our server, but I have to try and find our Assistant server's name.

Glad you had a good weekend Cathy. That sounds much better than unpacking boxes, figuring out where things go, still getting furniture built and more shelves hung.

DH & I may take a quick trip to WDW the first weekend in Dec., he still needs to talk to work about getting the time off. I hope he can, he usually gets left home on the spur of the moment trips or the weekend trips. He will be left home next month when DD & I go to Williamsburg for the weekend along with friends and my parents. We may get to see ::MickeyMo and ::MinnieMo one last time this year. It will be very weird, as it will be my first trip not being a cast member in over 8½ years  .

I really want to take a quick trip to WDW but it is still expensive and I am saving for the August trip... I just feel guilty. It will be easier when we don't have to plan around school and can go off peak somewhat. Just for fun I got a quote from DU for the week after Christmas (4 nights) but it was without airfare and I just can't do it...
:(

P.S. You need a new trip counter Jilljill...

DH has to wait until Thursday to talk to the SM to see if he can take the time off. So we just sit and wait for a few days. Hopefully I can put on a new counter.

I was thinking about the August 2005 one actually, but you are right that they should come in order since you can't have them all on there. I should do one for Christmas since I need all the shopping time I can get and need to keep track of it.

Stacey where are you?!? We need a good story or 2 from you  :teeth: :hyper: .

I think I told you guys I received a call from someone at Disney friday saying they located my lithograph and were preparing it for shipping. Yesterday I received a message from someone else saying they were still unable to locate my "item" due to the hurricanes and she would call me today after 2 pm. No call back number left. This morning I called the lady who left the message on friday and left her a voicemail to call me back and clarify if my item had been found or not. The UPS man just delivered a package from DCL and I'm so excited, I open it quickly! It's a lithograph, appears to be the same one (although I thought it was larger) but the wrong frame! The one we bid on was in a dark wood frame, could have just been a larger frame, not larger lithograph although I thought the lithograph was larger too. This one is in a blue frame! I would not have purchased a blue frame, does not go with my family room where we planned on putting it! In fact that frame was the deciding factor between 2 items we were having trouble choosing from! I called the lady at DCL and told her, she is making some calls now to see if she can find anything out but since the Wonder is in dry dock the person she ultimately needs to speak with is not available. She promised to call me back today. I'm really kicking myself for not taking a picture of it when I bid on it! I can't believe this, had I known it would end up such a mess I would have just taken it with me and stopped somewhere and shipped it myself!:sad1:
Sure hope they can find MY Lithograph!

Oh, Vickie - I'm sorry to hear about your litho...maybe you'll end up with 2! That has happened to me on eBay before when I bought a Disney item - the seller ended up letting me keep the 2nd one for a minimal price :) !
Brynée had an exciting day yesterday...was asked to the Harvest Dance by a cute guy in her choir class :Pinkbounc She is now as bouncy as this icon! The dance isn't until the 23rd so hopefully the days will just fly by for her! And, she already has an outfit to wear so no stressful shopping trip for us ;) !

It's me whining again! After looking at this lithograph all afternoon I decide it's not even the same one. Very similar but not the same. I was sure Flounder was one of the fish. This one has fish, Pinoccio and Jiminy Cricket. And I know mine was larger. DD comes home from school takes one look at it and says "where's Flounder?" so that confirms what I've been thinking all day. Then DH comes home and says ours was much larger.
Oh, the lady did call me back and says they checked the manifest from the ship and weren't able to tell by it if this was mine or not. Wonder will be out of dry dock friday night and she will be in on monday so she'll call me next week. Says they will do everything they can to locate mine "but there is always the possibility it was sold on a later cruise, worst case scenerio we will take it back with a full refund"
I don't want a full refund, I want what I bought!

Hi Guys! Was just heading to bed, and thought I'd best see what all was going on...sorry I haven't been around....things have been a little topsy-turvy here.

Vickie.....what a big, horrible mess!! I have no idea what to tell you. I don't have any connections down there, darn it. (Who am I kidding, I don't have any connections anywhere!)
I would think that DCL is usually very good about this type of thing. I do hope they get it all worked out....I don't want to be on the ship when you blow up at them, although I would't blame you one little bit!

Keep us posted....

Off to bed......Jenny, that's really cool about Brynee.....Jordan is going to Homecoming, but with a girlfriend of hers...that's how they do it here. Not many "couples".... and she has plenty of dresses, too, thank goodness!

TTFN,
Stacey

Vickie, that's horrible that DCL sent you the wrong picture and then said it 'could have beeen sold on a later cruise'. I would be so angry and on the phone all the time with them. If I could I would drive down to Norfolk and look on the ship for you myself, but I don't think they would let me do that :earseek: . You would think with the ship in drydock they could call down there and hove someone look for it much easier than if it were out on the high seas. Disney, you never know about them  .

Vicky, I'll put in my sympathies too. That must be so frustrating and just not fair. They should be very good at this sort of thing, someone goofed up.

Congratulations on all the dances and excitement going on for the teens. My DD goes to school dances with a friend and a group of them (including guys) hang out. She says it is mostly the girls that dance the fast songs and a few couples for the slow. I am glad she is happy to have fun with friends right now.

Is anyone else a baseball fan with a team in the pennant races? I only watch games this time of year, but we are die hard Red Sox fans no matter what. I was hoping the curse of the Bambino would be broken this year. My parent's are big Yankee fans living in Southern CT nearer NYC. Right now those two teams are playing each other and it is a huge rivalry.

Cathy

Thanks everyone for all of the sympathies! I have to say I was SOOOO mad when I was talking to her. She was really being nice and sympathetic (except for that comment about it possibly being sold again) so I was trying to be so nice back all the time because I could just hear my mother telling me about catching more flies with honey but just wanting to explode! I just wanted to stay on her good side because I like having a direct number to call and deal with the same person everytime! Evidently when the ship is in dry dock people take vacations or something and she was unable to reach the correct person, she also said email was unavailable to them right now too. I'm just hopeful she calls Monday with some good news!

Cathy - we're Giants fans here so the season is already over for us. Remember the World Series in 1989 (the earthquake game)? DH was at that game then when they played the make up game I got to go because his friend's wife refused to drive over a bridge after the Bay Bridge collapsed so I got to use her ticket. It was Kenney's first baseball game, he was 3 months old! Kenney is a Yankee fan now (not really though, he just likes to wear the logo clothes, says the game is boring)

Found us on page 2  . Wonder if Stacey will chek in after her games tonight? Hope she didn't have to play again this week.
Good night all

Yes, I remember that series. How horrible for all the people on that bridge that collapsed. The Red Sox are in big trouble after last night's 19 to 8 loss. I just want to win a few games to make it respectable, my DH says he'd rather it be over today (he has this pessimism superstition where they will prove him wrong or something, he really wants them to keep going - LOL)

 G'morning all. DD and I went to New York City yesterday with friends to the new World of Disney store on 5th Ave. we weren't too impressed. Way too many kids clothes and not enough adult clothes and gifty items. OK, they had adult clothes, but I don't count $76.00 t-shirts and $320.00 ladies cashmere sweaters (the men's were $360.00) as adult clothing that I would buy :earseek: . It was a good day, went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and shopped at Tiffany's. Then went to Times Square - it is so crowded in that area, we thought we were going to lose the kids. Saw lots of interesting people  :teeth: .

Have a good day!

Wow - NY for the weekend! How fun for you!! It's raining here so I didn't get to play tennis today :( Went shopping with DH to Target and then off to see "Friday Night Lights!" Brynee's high school is kind of like a 'sports school' She has to lift weights in order to play varsity tennis! She'll be off to her dance next weekend with her date and 5 other couples :hyper: And I'll be off to Pacific Grove/Monterey so I'll miss seeing her get ready for the dance :( - but it's a girls weekend out to see a co-worker's new house and Brynee said she didn't mind if I am gone! Hoping for good weather for us and her as the Harvest Dance will be held outside - hayride and everything!

Hi everyone,
We just got home, went to Lake Tahoe for our anniversary weekend (anniversary is tomorrow). Not as exciting as New York City but we had fun. Long drive though, there was a wild fire and the main highway was closed so the detour added an hour and a half to the drive. DH wanted to go to a show last night and the only choices were The Smothers Brothers or Pat Benetar. I didn't really care to see The Smothers Brothers so we saw Pat Benetar. Show was good, weekend was nice, but heavy rain on the way home and long drive. Had a real nice dinner last night, wasn't Palo but nice!
Gotta go unpack.
Vickie

 Hi! Remember me?????

Everyone sounds like they have been having fun...Tahoe, NYC...
let's see....I did laundry yesterday.... LOL

Vickie, my mom drilled the old "catch more flies with honey" thing into my head too. But, it does seem to work best most of the time.

I didn't have to play Friday night....so Jordan and I went to Mervyn's. Found a cute little wallet-type bag...just perfect for my Key To The World card...and maybe a camera.

Don't feel bad, I haven't been on the Christmas thread much either...just a lot going on right now.

I made my tip envelopes and thank you cards for the Xmas cruise today. One less thing to do. I was hoping to get a lot more done, but I slept really late (boy did that feel good!) and then we went to see the progress on my friend's house that he is building. We got stuck helping out a little...
But it was a nice quiet day, a litte cooler and cloudy, but no rain.

Hopefully, next week will be a little more "normal" so that I can stay caught up here!
Have a great Monday!

Stacey

Jenny, NYC wasn't for the weekend, it was just for the day. We only live 2½ hours away and my friend doesn't mind driving and parking in the city. I don't mind going there, but would much prefer other places to visit.

Vickie, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! :cake: :daisy:
I would have prefered to go to Lake Tahoe over NYC. Oh well, like they always say.....location, location, location.
