August 5th 2012, Magic- NY to Canada

Thank you so much for the wonder FE. We can not wait to see them all. Didn't open them since we wanted to enjoy the surprises with our 7 year old daughter who helped make all of the ornaments.

Thank you to my FE group for all the wonderful gifts! We really enjoyed all of them.

As promised, here is a pic of our DIS meet and greet from our August 5th Cruise to Canada. For those of you who have my email address just contact me and I'll send you a copy.

My DW and I had a great time meeting and making new friendships with all of you.....

Can't wait till our next cruise...only 10,768 hours away.

Well we didnt make the meet and greet but enjoyed the FE exchange. My mother enjoyed her first Disney Cruise. she had not been on a cruise ship since 1972! Thanks for all the treats and I hope everybody is home safely or enjoying NYC.

Hope everyone enjoyed the cruise! We certainly did! Turns out the railway excursion in Saint John wasn't bad at all. We enjoyed it. Got some great pics of the reversing rapids and the people on the speedboat excursion.

I am totally hooked on DCL cruising now and we booked ourselves for Alaska next August. Even won a $100 onboard credit for booking. I actually came home with DCL owing me $72 when all was said and done. Can't say I've ever come home from vacation with more money than I went with!

Can't wait to see those other sneaky shots you took of us , Coach! It was great meeting you and everyone else! I will email you soon to get a hi-res copy of the picture. Thanks for taking it!

Hope everyone got home safely. We enjoyed meeting everyone. Thank you for the wonderful FE gifts. There was one we could not find to deliver. Sorry. Hope to sail with some of you again

We also couldn't find one family on the FE exchange -- went to the listed stateroom and even spoke with the room host but no one by those names was staying there.

Anyone know anything?

Laura

This was our 4th time on the Magic -- she's looking a bit tired, we noticed.

Did anyone else feel this way? She's going in for major drydock next October but, frankly, I don't think she can wait that long. Poor old girl.

Still had a wonderful trip but it was very surprising to us that her upkeep seems to have slipped.

First, let me say that I loved each and every FE gift. I am not as crafty as most of you, but I was amazed by the skill and thought so many of you brought to your gifts. You're all fantastic.

Second, I agree, Laura. Magic was and always will be my first love, but it's clear that she's in dire need of that drydock. We had hoped that she would get the Outlook Bar upgrade to the Cove Cafe that Wonder got, but were told that she has some structural differences that will make that renovation impossible. Hopefully 6 weeks in the shop will bring her back to her energized lovely self.

Third, yes - I came home with an FE gift that I could not deliver to eeyoresthebest. I really hope that they had a great cruise and I'm so sorry they disappeared from our group.

Fourth, it was an absolute blast sailing with joycsk and her family. We had met here on the DIS prior to our Alaska cruise last year and I am now very privileged to call that entire family very dear friends.

Finally, I want to repeat - THANK YOU DISERS for the awesome FE gifts. Your thoughtfulness makes the DCL even more of an incredible and unmatchable experience. Love you all.

Sincerely,
Jeremy

I also wanted to express my thanks for everyones FE gifts. This was my 11th Disney Cruise first on the Magic and I also agree she needs a good facelift. My husband was not able to join me as planned due to illness with his father but my mom was the lucky guest. This was her first Disney Cruise and she loved it. She was amazed with all the decorated cabin doors and the FE and the FE gifts. Thanks again for everyones gifts. Michelle

Having recently sailed on the MV of the Fantasy, and having read all the comments about how tired the Magic was looking I was pleasantly surprised at how good she looked. Yes, she was showing her age a bit, but certainly not in any major way or in a way that impacted our trip. It was strange to see the old blue bedding and I did keep looking for the enchanted art! Overall another great cruise!

So, in my attempt to follow Jeremy's 'order', we, too, have loved our FE exchange and send our thanks to all involved!

Second, while there cosmetic issues on the Magic that I noticed, I cannot say that they impacted my cruise. Now, the temperature of the hot tubs - That was a problem for me. Also, MouseNDaHouse (Jeremy's) family and I spoke often about the food. It was our 4th cruise, and possibly the best food we'd ever had. I am sure that dry dock will be 'wonderful' for the Magic - and it would be great if she could get one or two features of the new ships, but I can't complain about last week one bit!

I am incredibly flattered by Jeremy's compliments, and need to return them to him. Not only did our entire family thoroughly enjoy his company, but he even "took care" of our younger child for the entire last day of the cruise! (I can't quite picture it, Jeremy, were you wearing a yellow shirt that last day? ;o)

I think my take away from this entire message is that it is nearly indescribable how Dis has 'enhanced' our past three cruises. (I wasn't a member when we first cruised.) From the FEs to new and enchanting friends, Dis has completely changed the shape of our cruises, and I am very grateful!

Fondly,

This was great trip. What a nice way for my kids to have their first Disney experience without the hot, sweaty lines in Disney World. We met all the characters and loved the shows, especially Villians Tonight. The food was very good and our waiter went out of his way to accomodate my son's gluten-free diet. The kids loved having the Mickey bars everynight after dinner. We couldn't get them out of the Mickey pool. Canada was nice. The weather/temperature was comfortable for walking around. The standard inside cabin for the 4 of us was a little tight, we told the room steward to separate the beds for more walking space. But we were never really in the room. The fireworks and Mickey zip-lining onto the deck at the Pirate party was great. As they say "Making Magical Memories".

Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful FE gifts!!! Everything was just terrific! Sorry we missed the Meet on Sunday afternoon. We saw some folks that we had sailed with on the Baltic cruise and started chatting...before we knew it they were calling for the Safety practice!

We enjoyed being back on the Magic...it just feels like home for us (this was our 11th cruise and the 7th on the Magic). She is showing her age a bit but I thought she still looked just as regal as always. She will undoubtedly be updated and refurb'd during her dry dock next year. We'll be on the medi cruise-Greece itinerary next June so hopefully they will keep her looking pretty good until her dry dock.

Thanks again for everything! Hope to 'See Ya Real Soon'!

I agree that the Disboards help make the cruises special. Meeting new friends adds to the enjoyment.Over the years I learned a lot from these boards that helped make our cruises magical. If anyone is taking some of the special cruises- TA, Med, Panama join the thread for those cruises. We did the Hawaiian one and the planning that went into that on the Disboards was absolutely wonderful. We did the FE, Secret Mickey. Champagne Girls Get Together, Mascot Meet and a Disboard Brunch. There was also a scrapbook group and a jewerly making group. These things were above all that Disney offered. There wasn't enough time in the day. We had a great time. Keep the Disney planning on the Disboards and not on Facebook. When the two compete it is almost impossible for the coordinators of events to get things organized. I know that on the Hawaiian one there was so much going back and forth it was crazy.

Anyone doing the Panama in May?

Hi Lynda, I am cruising on the Dream on Sept 16th DVC Member Cruise. We are exchanging FE gifts. At present we do not have them listed on a spread sheet. The one you placed for everyone to use, update and print was great! Can you possibly add that spread sheet to our DIS thread for us to use? Thread 09/16/2012 member cruise. August 31 is the last day anyone can join. If you can add I will fill in the information that has been provided so far. Thanks Michelle
