August 5, 2012 Dream 5 Night Double Dip

still no cabin number today-I'm sure we'll have to find out before we get there so they know where to deliver our luggage.

Yep us too. Looking at the anticipated xGT thread I'm going to guess I'll get my room number on the 23rd at the latest

Really looking forward to our time at Castaway Cay. I've been training this spring and summer for my first 5k that I ran on July 4. Didn't set any land speed records, but I'm hoping to shave a minute or two off my time during the CC5k. My son is really excited to do the Ray Adventure on our first afternoon. And - most interesting of all - my wife and dad, who both refuse to fly, have signed up to go parasailing at CC. Must be some serious pixie dust at work !

So, my son wants to do the 5K with his friends on the November sailing. So, he wants to try it on this sailing-he won't be able to run it, but he wants me to do it with him. I don't exercise, so I know won't have the stamina to even run 1 mile. So, it's gonna be a 5K walk for me.

With me being the kind of person who's making extra space in his bag just for his specialized racing shoes just for the 5k, I should probably just keep quiet. :rolleyes1

My dad and my sister have both run The Half the last couple of Januaries. I'm terribly jealous of their bling. I am, by no means, an athlete. But I figure I can wog my way through three miles, and change. The race I did a few weeks ago had a hill as its challenge. This one is flat, but will be much warmer/humid. I may be bringing up the rear, but I'll finish under the hour that a lot of people kick around as the unofficial time limit.

By the way, I'll be sure to wear my "Dis Green" sleeveless water wicker and matching Nikes if anyone wants to say "hi" at the start line.

Yay! I was wondering who else was going to do the run. When I found out about the traditional 5K on the island I was totally overjoyed! I figure my goal on board was to eat and sleep in as much as possible, so that doesn't usually work well with my daily workouts. Burning off my poor food choices will be very cool. Does anybody know which CC visit they usually hold the race? Would love to meet you all that morning for the run. I'm definitely a mid-pack runner, but it would be nice to say hi!::yes::

Now here's an idea. Let's have some marking on all us DISers during the 5k! Something like a green headband or wristband would be perfect. It'd be like we're all on a team!

I think that's a totally cool idea! But I've got to tell you that I don't look so great in headbands or wristbands. I do, however, have a green tech underarmour tee. What shade green are you thinking? Even if you all decide a different color or a logo I'm totally on board.:thumbsup2 Great idea!

Alrighty I have updated the spreadsheet. We're just missing one room from CnP and one from z80. If you'd like a copy of the spreadsheet, just PM me. I've got it broken down into adults, teens, and the under 12 set. There's room numbers, naturally. Hope everyone's prep is going well ! We're in the home stretch now !

We now have 14 rooms! We are officially closed so everyone can finalize their FE gifts. Don't forget to PM me as the GT status people get their room assignments. Solfan68 made a great spreadsheet of our participants--PM me or him with your email address if you would like it sent to you. Thanks, Solfan68!

As far as when to deliver, at your convenience is fine--but if you notice a lot of gifts getting delivered on the same day, please wait until later in the cruise so we can try to space out the deliveries and keep up the excitement every day.:cool1:

Looking forward to our FE and so glad we got it together (albeit last minute!)

Has anyone checked into what movies will be playing on our trip ? I know there's a phone number you can call. Don't know if its a recording or if you speak with a live cast member... :confused3

I don't know the number.

On our 2 nite cruise July 13th movies were:
Brave
Avengers
People Like Us
Chimpanzee

There will probably be more of a selection on the longer cruise.

Thanks Fivepin ! Kinda figured Avengers and Brave would be a for sure kinda thing. Was kind of hoping against hope that I'd finally get a chance to see John Carter on the big screen. So maybe ? I'd also seen that Cars 2 might still be making the floating cineplex circuit ? Guess I need to dig up that number...

Room number is 8160 but that may change so we'll update everyone at the meet
