I have heard about the pick pockets in Barcelona and Rome. How do you seasoned European travelers carry your valuables while on shore - money belt, backpack, cross body bag? Please help out this newbie American!

DH will be using a money belt for cash, credit cards and passports. I will carry non-valuable items in a small back pack. My camera will be in a cross body bag in front of me, so we will be using all three!

I was always very careful when on vacation. I keep money and ccard in a money belt, with whatever cash I anticipate needing for the day in my cross body bag. It was here at home (in the suburbs of Athens) that I let down my guard and the big fat wallet I had in my backpack was stolen. I didn't realize the warning signs, the pushing that 'people' were doing to get on the train. It was group of gypsies. I realized right as the train pulled away that my bag was open and the gypsies were not on the train. Live and learn... I didn't have any money in the wallet, nor my passport (which is my id here). I just had a lot of pictures, 'store cards' and coupons.

Now I am extra careful to avoid people invading my personal space and when they do my hands are on my bag.

Trying to convince DH to mind his pocket is a totally different matter, however.

That is what everyone says "be mindful" of your belongings (I wouldn't just lay my camera/phone/tablet on a cafe table) and of your personal space. Don't accept 'help' from strangers unless you are indeed in distress.

Hi everyone a quick question has anyone ever done the ship walking tour? If so is it good, do you get to go anywhere you can't go yourself?

Also how big are the navigators? My children are doing project files/ books for school so I need to know what size to buy

I too cannot wait we are thinking of telling the children this weekend so that will add to the excitement!!

Hi Donna. While not the Magic, I did the walking tour on the Dream. Basically it just talked a little bit about the theory behind the details. There was no access whatsoever to other places.

About the Navigators, They fit in a normal document file that I had with me, does that help? I would say around 81/2 by 11 thereabouts.

Also, they are available in Spanish as well, that could be educational?

The young ones get special port papers which are like a piece of paper folded up into 3, which gives them some extra information about each port. That would also be great in the project.

I love that I can now say "I'm going on a Disney cruise again NEXT MONTH". I've spent the day today shopping for/making FE gifts and deciding on whether the fast ferry or hydrofoil will work best for us for Capril. Is anyone else heading to Capri when we go to Naples?

We will be at Disney Paris beginng Aug 24 for 3 nights, 2 nights in Barcelona.....cruise...then 5 more nights in Disney Paris(we will visit Paris one of the last 5 days)

We were considering Capri, but decided to take it easy and hydrofoil to Sorrento instead. I am not ready for the trip to be next month. I haven't made our FE yet, but I am almost done buying/deciding on the gifts

This is our first trip to the Mediterranean, last year my husband and I were married on the Wonder. It will be our first time back on the magic since it' be remodeled and cant wait to see it!!!

This may be a stupid question, but what is the weather generally like in the Mediterranean the first week of September?

We have cruised this same week but in the Caribbean where it is HOT!.

Is it still summer weather or will it be more like fall with cooler temperatures? Trying to determine what to pack and if more clothes should be purchased. ;

Hi there! I will give you my take on this.... It is hot . Usually no rain in Athens until later in September, but you never know, We had a couple showers in Barcelona last year. I am taking: 1 pair jeans, 1 pair linen pants, other lighter pants, shorts, short sleeves, sundresses, 1 light jacket and 1 small umbrella. I would say figure less humidity and more cool breezes, but we have had a rather humid summer so far here.

I would not bring heavy clothes. My jacket is mostly for the air conditioning.
