August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Hey all,

How old are the kids that you're talking about? My DD is 9... but if she's not in the Oceaneer's lab, she'll be with us. Do they need "spending money" while they are in the club?

(Or are you guys talking about older kids that will be given free reign?)

Also, has anyone out there brought the walkie-talkies with them? On our last cruise she was 7, and we saw a lot of older kids with them. She's begging for free reign, i.e. just to run up to the pool or sports deck. I know it's a ship and she can only go just so far away, but still, I am leery. Am I being a big, unreasonable chicken? At what age have you let/will you let your kids a little running room?

Lastly, what is freestyle cruising? I never heard of it. Is that what we have?

TTYL--Sophia

My DD is only 7 so she will not have charging privileges. She will have her own money to spend with our help. We won't be taking walkie talkies since she will be either with us or at OC.

As for freestyle cruisng - that is only available on NCL and what it is is you can choose to eat in which ever dining room you want on any night. DH doesn't like it because you have a different server with each restaurant and he felt you didn't get as good a service.

I know Princess and RCCL both have similiar concepts, though RCCL has both traditonal and what they call my time dining. I'm looking forward to trying freestyle cruising on NCL. I don't need to have the same servers everynight. If I went out to dinner here at home I don't get the same servers at the different restaurants. I like the options.

Just checked with Dreams Unlmited, as I was hoping to get a final word on if we would get an OBC for the fuel surcharge...

According to DU, no OBC for us...bummer:sad2:

I checked with Disney Cruise Line and when the determination was made for the quarter ending September 30, 2009 on June 17th, the cost for a barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude oil was over the $70 mark, so the fuel supplement will stand on your reservation and will not refunded as a shipboard credit.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

We used the walkie Talkies last time and they worked great. Having a toddler who napped, they really helped me and DH know where we both were (we didn't give them to the kids). DD 10 is in the lab and she can not check herself out (I prefer to know where she is). Ours did break though, and I don't think our new ones are strong enough, so we need to get new ones.

Do you remember what the mile radius was on the Walkie-Talkie you used?

Just to make us all feel worse. Oil closed at $71.03 that day. We lost $133 dollars because of $1.03! No wonder this economy stinks! (you can replace stinks with another s word)

I can not. I wish I could. Then I would know what to buy again. DH bought new ones, but they aren't as good and I would rather not buy another set that wont work. I'll let you know if I read anything that would help make the decision. Oh, I know ours worked on the boat tons better than they did at Disney World the second half of our trip.

Would anyone on the FE list be willing to switch delivery days?

It looks like the pirate party will be on tuesday (that could be wrong the info came from a DCL rep) and we would love to be able to deliver on or before tuesday. If anyone would be willing to do a trade on days for either me- jamie, christopher and elliot or my family the fox family karen, jerry, ric and will we are currently scheduled for Wednesday AM and Thursday afternoon.

It's not a big deal we just came up with some great pirate gift ideas, but we would not mind delivering some pirate themed gifts later in the week.

On our last disney cruise may 08 lots of people were in pirate gear for the party, is this still the case? Is anyone here all readying planning costumes?
Rick and Will were curious to know if other teens were going to wear costumes or hats or anything all special?

We are soo excited and would love to meet sat on deck I think by the goofy pool is perfect!

I have Tues AM and wouldn't mind trading for Thurs afternoon. Let me know if that works for you.

Hi RJ!

Meet the gang!

We're planning on a DIS meet Saturday at 3 pm. It will be on deck 9, we haven't nailed down an exact location yet.

Any questions, we're happy to help make your first cruise planning an adventure!

You only have to wait a little over a month and a half. It's been 9 months since my last disney cruise.

Michele
Thank You for the invite .... we look forward to meeting everyone. Do you know how many families will be attending?

RJ

Thank You all for the warm welcome ... as far as Big Kid activities we've reserved late dinner @ the Palo and also the sky tram in St Thomas. Do you or anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi everyone!

I am back from my big trip and saw the most recent FE list . . . we are really getting to be a nice big group! At any rate, I will be in touch here now for the rest of the summer until we leave the day before the cruise . . .

Hope everyone is getting excited about the cruise - I know I am.:goodvibes:goodvibes

RJ,

We have no idea how many families will be attending. I know all the cool ones will be there!

RJ,

Umm, the tram takes about 1/2 hour! I know a couple of families are going to the beach in St. Thomas. We're going to Meghan's Bay with another dis family.

In St. Marteen shopping and beach!

Doing the Eastern is very beach friendly.

Want to tag along?

Oh yes! I can hardly stand the wait!!! :yay::yay::yay:

My kids still don't know, and it's killing me not talk to them about plans! LOL!

Okay Ladies I'm doing an informal poll...

What purse do you use on vacation?

In the parks?

On the cruise?

I can't decide, decisions, decisions.... I don't want something that looks like luggage or a tablecloth pattern.

Suggestions?

I usually don't carry a purse. I use a lanyard with my room card and $20 thrown in and I'm off. I'll do the same for the ship, but the $20 won't be necessary.....
