August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Michelle..I think you should all get the T-shirts because aren't you and DH part of the Goofy5? :)

Cigy7..Won't your baby be 3 months old at the time of cruise? or am I confused with someone else? If so, do you think an umbrella stroller will work? I'm just curious because my DS can't sit up by himself yet and not sure if he'll be able to by the time of his cruise. I was thinking about an umbrella stroller but I'm afraid he might fall out. The umbrella strollers are so nice and light though..

Does anyone know about Blackbeard's Castle in St. Thomas? Is it worth going to?

Just to clarify the ship has two types of strollers. Jogging strollers for bigger kids and classic styles for smaller babies.

We've been to Blackbeard's Castle. It's a hike from the ship straight up a mountain side on a narrow road!!! OMG I thought we were going to die getting there. Once you get there, it's a "small" castle that overlooks the bay. You're given rum punch and sample other rums for a nominal fee. There's also a cheezy gift shop. Spending 15 minutes there is plenty of time to see everything. If you think the ride up was NUTTS, going down is 10 times worse. You wonder if the vehicle's brakes will stop around the hairpin turns or make it to the bottom in one piece. I remember holding on to my DD for dear life.

Okay I need 2 - 2 1/2 weeks for bracelets from time of order. I'm going to set a deadline of Tuesday August 4th for PM orders. I will order some extras. I will post a list of everyone who sent a PM for review on August 5th. Then a few days later Ill place the order. I will have a final color and layout posted soon. For those asking about payment we can just square up on the boat. I will be on deck 9 at 3. You should be able to recognize me by the 200 bracelets around my arms

ps Bracelets will be handed out right after TVEPFOX weather forecast :happytv:

This is great!!!!! Thank you for coordinating these for us!:banana:

I hope your cofused with someone else :confused3 Unless my wife had one I didn't know about :lmao: My ds will be 22 months and my DD will be 3 1/2 years old. I'm just nervous about them not having enough strollers. They will not guarantee you one, I think I will bring umbrella very easy to fold up and stash away

Awaiting 2 proofs in JPEG that I will post 1 will be in White the other in Lime Greene. Both with DCL logo and black printing in the Disney font. Lets see what they come up with. Then we can vote. I should have had proofs by now. Last night they dint email me until 11 30 pm so there is still hope for tonight.

Since we're 30 days out I figure it's time to start watching the Atlantic. I'll post regular updates based on the NHC.

The 2009 Atlantic Hurricane season has been very quiet, too quiet if you ask me. Keep your fingers crossed.

Let's hope it stays this way... QUOTE]

It's me I have a 3 month old we are taking our own stroller ... I think ...
We have a really nice stroller and since our little one can still sleep through anything I know he is comfortable and will be able to sleep where ever we go up on deck sipping drinks ... We are also bringing his carseat for the plane and bus ride and the carseat easily clips on the the stroller frame so it would just make those transfers a little easier.

Welcome to our newest cruise friends!! This is going to be a fantastic group... I can already tell. A lot of great personalities showing through in the posts. FUN FUN!!!! I can't wait! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I’m so ready for this vacation. I’m a big planner. I like to know what I’m doing and when. Many of you have expressed interest in going ashore as a group, or should I say a party!

If you want to book excursions with Disney you have 28 days to do it online.

Tuesday we’ll be in St. Maarten for most of the day. We dock at The A.C. Wathey Pier & Port Facility in Philipsburg on the Dutch side of the island.

RCCL’s Liberty of the Seas will be in port with us that day. She arrives after us and brings thousands of passengers. The area can get very busy with two ships in port.

We plan to get off the ship around 10 a.m. I would like to meet on Deck 9 by the Goofy pool, starboard at 9:45 a.m.

We’re taking a water taxi from the dock area. A water taxi operates between the cruise pier and downtown Philipsburg; cost is $3 each way (a roundtrip discount price of $5 is often available), CASH ONLY! If you do not want to use the water taxi you can walk to the Front Street area. It's about 15 minutes.

The water taxi takes you to the Front Street boardwalk. There you’ll find duty free shopping, restaurants, bars and Great Bay beach. After some shopping we’re planning lunch at a beach front restaurant, then off to the beach. Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent on the beach. Last visit we got 2 chairs, 1 umbrella and two Heinekens for $10 CASH ONLY!

Once you get to Philipsburg, most everything is in 5 to 20 minute walking distance, including the ship.

If you’re interested in jewelry shopping I like St. Maarten better than St. Thomas, this is MY opinion. I have a jeweler on Front Street, he’s very good. He gives me good prices, options for U.S. Customs, and a wonderful selection of quality pieces. Please feel free to explore the shopping area. You’ll find inexpensive liquor (nice to buy small bottles for onboard), diamonds, gold, electronics, souvenirs, etc. If you’re shopping for jewelry like me (I love blue diamonds), I can be of some assistance. I worked in a high end jewelry store for years.

Can we come with you guys? Sound like fun!

I remember someone posting a link to a thread where someone was doing up letters to surprise people with. Our grandson doesn't know about the cruise and would like to have one done for him. Could someone please post the link. Thanks to all.

I would like to make up loot bags for the councilors in the kids club. Does anyone know roughly how many would my grandson be in contact with?

That thread is called the post card thread and is located here Just remember the postcards are sent from castaway cay and takes usually weeks to be delivered. Personally I think you're a bit too late for this, but you can try.

There are so many people who work in the clubs, that it's hard to predict. I do know the people who work the kids club are usually not allowed to accept tips from guests. I'd make up a few and give one to those counselors that made an impression on your grandson.

I had someone send ours that was already home. It was great, the kids loved it. I don't think you are too late for late for that :)

I have no idea but when I make something for my kids preschool teachers (there are tons of them, the kids all rotate and the numbers are always changing) I make 1 bag of gifts and they take what they want. You could also take a few extra bags and take stuff out if you want to make it into smaller bags for the ones your grandson wants to give them too instead at the end of the trip. We did this for our adoption trip to China too, since no one could give us an idea of how many nannies Zachary had. Worked great.

It was me, I will try to look back today and find it for you, I need to find it for myself anyway. My computer crashed about a week ago, and luckily I have been using my kids to still communicate. I had already done my magnets, but my tshirt disigns are now gone and the letters I was going to print for the kids. Hopefully, I was smart and subscribed to the threads, otherwise, I will have to look through the 500+ posts I have made!

I got lucky and found it pretty quick! It is from Dolly's website, just ask her to personalize them to the name you need, she is usually very quick to post requests, she did 3 different disigns for my 3 boys. She also has wordsearches and other disney type car or airplaine games made up you can print, not sure if it is on this thread, but you can search for her other things if you would like something to entertain the kids.

Thanks Sharon. I can go back and find the post. At least I'll know who posted it, which will make it easier. When I find it I'll let you know which post.
