August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Greetings,
Myself(41), my wife(41), my daughter Rachel(6), my son Shane(4), my father(77), my mother(73), my niece Cheyenne(13), and my other niece Montanna(10) will be on th cruise.
I booked it last year using DVC points. How many other DVC members are there? We went on the 4 day Bahama cruise on November 30th on the Wonder and it was great. We already booked this one before we went on the 4 night.
Hopefully going to Disney in early December 2009 or May of 2010.

Welcome aboard!!!! We're also cruising on DVC points!!!!

Waltworshiper - I'd set the cut off at 75 days, as that when final payment is due for everyone, though CC members and others may have paid off prior to then. So if anyone drops out, they would by then. I think by 75 days to sailing, we'd have a pretty accurate picture as to who is and who is not coming. I also think that gives those of us participating, plenty of time to gather stuff.....

I agree that the 75 day mark would be a good cut off. The other question is will we take newcomers after that if they ask to join? If anyone else wants to share their opinions on either the cut off or letting latecomers join let us know.

Personally, I'd make a final appeal to those posting and who have yet to sign up, wait about a week and then close it to all new entrants. It will be easier to those of us participating to gather things.

As our 90 days is fast approaching, I am receiving several pm's about getting the final list together for the FE. I need your opinions on when to make a cut off date. Even if we cut it off, if someone comes in last minute and wants to join, it would be with the understanding that they may not receive something from everyone, I would list them in a different color on the list, so you guys would know they joined later. I know some people are ordering things, and some are making the amount they need. I will have extras, so to me it is no big deal to have extra people join, hence me asking for those who are participating to let me know what they think. There is still one person on the list I have not heard from nor have they posted anything since January, hope they will check back in soon. I would like you guys to let me know when the cutoff should be, and if it is ok to take additional people after that date with the understanding mentioned above. Right now, I think there are 16 families involved. Once the cutoff date comes, I will post the list again. Please let me know what you are thinking.

I love your idea of posting a "final" list at some cut-off point (probably fairly soon) but then allowing late comers to be added with a different color in case some people were unable to accommodate extras . . . I coordinated the FE on last years WB PC repo cruise and we ended up with over 120 participants, and all kinds of trouble over whether to let people add on late in the game. Your plan sounds wonderful -- thanks for doing it!

I think that if we have a final cutoff deadline and not let others join, that we should wait a few days after the 75 day mark.

Some people may be waiting to see what cabins come available and then book. They might not announce to us that they are joining us until a day or so afterwards.

I just figured it's not in the Disney spirit of things not to let someone participate that really wants to, because the FE is another one of those magical Disney experiences, but I do understand some people do unique things or just buy a certain amount for whoever signed up by a certain date. I would hope that the late comers would realize getting some things and being able to participate would be better than not participating. Keep the posts coming, then we can all decide, hopefully, we wouldn't be overwhelmed by late comers.

I was playing around on DCL's site, seems there are empty rooms!

I could book 4-12 GTY....

Hummm... Notice DCL's specials don't apply to our cruise... yet!

I know it's a little early, hurricane season does not officially start until June first... But...

I promised early in this thread to keep you updated on storms with maps, routes and discussions.

I don't want to be a downer, I want to supply accurate and timely storm information with maps or links from now until our cruise and even on board. I've done this for my last several cruises to keep everyone updated and answer questions based on the data and models from the National Hurricane Center.

It's only May and we have our first Tropical Depression One off the coast of Rhode Island. This could turn into Ana. She should disapate by Saturday.

Let's hope mother nature is good to us this August.

OBTW most of these posts come from my BB so spelling and typos don't count! ;-)

I was playing on the DCL website yesterday for 2Adults 2Children all that was open were cat 4's. I know someone is hoping a cat 11 opens for 2A 2C, unless some opened today. For 2A 1C they were open in gty in most cats. Thanks for keeping us updated with the weather, that will either give me peace of mind or make me a nervous wreck, but I would rather go knowing what is or is not coming at us!

Love the weather updates we'll be getting. THANK YOU!

I agree with waiting a week after the final payment date to close the FE, then allowing others to join with the understanding they may not get something from everyone. I'm ordering something and will order extras, but I'd hate to think I'll not have enough for everyone.

I'm still up for Palo's. If the private room doesn't work out, I'd love to go for brunch. If anyone else wants to join me at a table, please let me know. I'll be making final payment next week, so my fingers are crossed that there will be Palo's brunch spots still open then.

I'm excited!!!! :dance3:

And welcome to the new cruisers!~
