August 28, 2010 Pirates of the Barbary Coast - 11 nights in the Mediterranean

This was posted on the Lonely Planet forums, by a gentleman from Tunis who works in the travel field:
1- The train ( T.G.M) schudle won't be altred duiring Ramadhan, except at the sunset ( around 7:00 /07:15' p.m ) just few trains will be operating.
2- As it's Ramadhan only few restaurants ( the one which are classified touristic restaurants will be open down town or in the suburbs) you may use the hotel restaurants as they will be open as well.
The shops in the medina are open till about 05:00/05:30 p.m therefore the ones down town might close earlier.​
Should be plenty doable for an on-our-own day in and around Tunis.

Hello bjlcmiller,

I see your location is TN. We're from TN as well - Morristown. We are going to BCN on Aug 26 via ATL and then staying 3 extra nights post-cruise in BCN and returning on Sept. 11. What about you guys?

We are flying out of Nashville on Aug 27th. We arrive the morning of the cruise and are heading back home the day we dock. We'll actually have to make a mad dash to the airport on the return (UGH!) We were limited with time away from work and child care.

I was looking trought the threads and I think there is a family participating that is not on the list . She didn't, put Fe after her name but I am pretty sure she is in. Madmum63 (Andrea) can you confirm if you are participating so that you can be put on the list?

OHHHH yes please we are absolutely in on the FE please can someone add our name to the list. Thank you soooooo much for thinking about us Jpinto.

We have been away for a long weekend and when we came back our network is down so here I am doing this on an alien computer system. I can keep up to speed on my Blackberry for viewing but when I tried to email it wasn't received so not sure if I can update disboard on it.

If I dont manage to reply again please can you count us in on meets as well if this is being organised. I will be able to read about it for sure we are up for most things. (within reason)

Thsnking you all in anticipation of any help given. From a useless computer user (the disboard is the first time I have really used the computer without the kids help) Aren't I clever:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Not long to wait now AAAArrrrgggghhhhh soooooo much to do.

(2) First sea day... perhaps 10:30, unless this interferes with anyone's Palo brunch plans

As you know it is also our first FE experiece. What we will do is your first idea. Tag our name and distribute them. Must be fun for the kids :). We have a small something for each adult couple..(tipical portuguese) as well as the kids.

I think I prefer the first sea day as well, as we will probably be tired that first day. I've never been involved in this before, where can we meet? Karyn
 
I agree with the first sea day for a meet. The day we set sail will be crazy for most people. And you don't want to do it much later than the first sea day because people get caught up in their plans and forget later about meets and such. On our last cruise two meets were planned and only a couple of people showed up for the second one. Also, it is great knowing what everyone looks like. Then you can greet everyone as you see them on the cruise.

For the meet you will want to find a way for people to identify each other. Last time we wore bracelets that someone made for us and mailed out. It is a bit late for that. But you might try wearing a certain color or a name tag. Or meet in an out of the way place like the Promenade Lounge in the morning. Or you can meet for an event like bingo or Disney Trivia.

Cool! We'd definitely like to meet up, especially some of the families with younger kids. :cool2: I'd never heard of "FE"s before joining this forums, so I'm afraid I'm not prepared to participate. Now all I need to do is figure out where this lounge is! :rotfl2:
