August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

I definitely will not be able to travel the last week of August anymore due to my job changing. The second week or 3rd is more favorable to me and then allows me not to stress if I am stuck at sea. I just read all these letters from people that were on the Magic or other ships stuck at sea the same week via www.vacationstogo.com and it was interesting to hear their stories. Some of these ships gave them free internet service so they can make their arrangements and also a 50 % discount to travel the same time next year.

Hi All - I would also be up for an August 2006 reunion cruise. I too would prefer an eastern itinerary since I have been on the western 3 times now.

Im so pissed... DH downloaded an update to Windows XP last night and it crashed my hard drive... and you guessed it.. he had already downloaded all 193 pictures from our trip to the computer and didnt back up the computer before downloading the new software. Im hoping that we can take it somewhere and they can maybe salvage some of the pictures.

Mary Rose.. we may also be heading down to Florida during Jersey Week. DH wants to go see a Dolphin game so if we can get tickets to one... we may see you there.

Good Morning all!

Ginny so sorry to hear about your pics and computer!!! I will email the DH at work (deals with computer recovery there alot) and see if he has any ideas for you to retrieve them. Hopefully he will answer me back quickly.

We are looking to book a 2006 Eastern with the boys as well but we are thinking of being bad and taking them for either Halloween or around Christmas time to make it even more special. Even if they miss some school. That will make them good ages to go 9, 5, and 3. Perfect CLUB ages!!!!

Melanie: I'm glad that Ivan won't be visiting your area! I think your kids will be perfect ages for the clubs, and for taking out of school. In May 2001 we took our boys out of school to go to Disney World. They were 13 and 10 and they didn't miss much work at all. But now that they are 16 and 13, (a junior in high school and in 8th grade), I don't think we can reasonably take them out during school anymore. They are both honor roll students, and I'm not concerned with them missing the class time, but it's all the paperwork (class assignments, homework, projects, etc) that is hard for the kids to make up once they get back home. In the lower grades a lot of time the teachers don't make them do all of the work they missed. In fact, my younger son only had to make up the tests, not the other work. Until my sons are out of school, (then again, it'll be a LONG time since they'll go to college after high school), it'll be summer vacations for us from now on. Enjoy taking the kids out of school when they're young!

I know what you mean. We took our daughter out of school every year through junior high in November. But once she entered High School, it became very difficult.

The irony is, this is the first time we have ever taken our cruise in the summer months -- and we only did it so she wouldn't miss school. And she missed the first two days anyway! However, we're grateful that the absence officer has agreed to mark those absences as excused.

We are really looking forward to planning a cruise in May for a change. How was it when you went in May? Are there a lot of kids -- and are the waters at CC warm?

Also, your pictures are GREAT.

A 2006 Eastern cruise sounds good to me, as long as it's during the summer!

Devin is in the accelerated program at the Junior High and it's been a bit of work for him to get caught up. I don't want to do that to him again.

We rebooked onboard for 2006. I'm not sure when I want to sail yet. Thought I would figure that out when the 2006 dates open up. Do you all really want to sail during Hurricane season again? I'm thinking once was enough. But I am definately doing the Eastern.

Everyone's photos look great. I didn't get half the photos I normally would once I dropped my camera in the turtle tank!

Ginny, I'm sure someone can restore the photos on your computer. Don't give up!

Bobby's trip report is so cool. Terry's is alot of fun, too. Thanks, you guys!

Ok everybody - don't laugh - I found the blond people in 2 more pictures. I guess when one takes 550 pictures - people will show up. Especially since most of the pictures are on shore excursions (booked in Jersey)
I really don't know anything about them except they seemed nice & they speak english. I thought they were German.
I havn't talked to Laurie to see if she knew their names.

Terry - I put the gold medal with my skating medals - You know we did a great routine!!!

I booked a Eastern Cruise for Xmas Eve to NY Eve 2005. I was going to book Sep 17 but my Granddaughter (Tiggerwannabe's daughter) & her girlfriend didn't want to miss school.

Xmas w/Mickey.

I will post my pictures by next Monday.

I booked the Disney Cruise Line. The Eastern Cruise. They go to St Maarten & St Thomas & best is last Castaway Key. & if the cruise line is as good as WDW Xmas & New Years Eve & bringing in the millenium it should be awesome

I was hoping we could do a July cruise? Hopefully that would avoid all hurricane's maybe even late June 1st week in august? I know that so far prices for August are not out . Has anyone heard anything? I did hear that they expect the hurricane season to get worse.

I can't believe it, but as of now, DH is actually open to the idea of going on DCL in 2006 I know he really loved this last cruise and wants to do a Disney cruise again.

I checked on All Seasons Travel's web site and so far they don't have any 2006 dates or rates out yet.

So....for those us who want to cruise in summer 2006, it looks like we're unanimous about it being an eastern cruise, right?? It would be awesome if as many of us as possible booked for the same week again. Since DS Craig is graduating high school that year, we couldn't go too early in June because if there were snow days, we wouldn't know exactly when the last day of school would be until a couple of months beforehand, and of course we wouldn't miss his graduation! LOL We'll be throwing a graduation party for him, too. But we're open to basically any week in summer 2006, from late June to mid August

FYI - I spoke with DCL tonight and they are still offering 10% off and the $200.00 onboard credit to anyone that was on our cruise that wanted to re-book since the rebooking desk shut down at the end of the week. It will only be offered for a short time though.

I just added color to my signature and I made the line about our cruise BOLD, and now I realize that it looks just like the line in Bobby's signature! Hope you don't mind, Bobby, I wasn't purposely trying to copy what you had! Although, I think it looks great! I really wanted our 10-night cruise to stand out over the other trips in my signature, thats why I made only that one bold.
