August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

We just received a letter from DCL on Friday confirming that Key West has raised its port charges $2.63 per person!

That's one less drink or souvenir I'll be able to buy onboard! :)

I just received a notice from my travel agent that Grand Cayman had a tax increase $4.00 also.

Lyn

I booked via DVC points and the $75 exchange fee. I didn't pay any extra port charges to begin with. Wonder if they will ask me for any $$$

Received the Grand Cayman increase letter in (I think) October of last year. The Key West increase letter came last week. Boy are they nickel and diming us here. Just waiting for Cozumel's fee increase.

How many weeks are we at. Is it 28?

Temps are back down in the 20's.

Keep Warm

Joanna

Hi everyone!

We were away this weekend, just got back this evening. Please allow me to now announce this week's countdown, officially...

TWENTY EIGHT WEEKS TO GO!!! :sunny:

P.S. I hope no one minds me doing these countdowns each week...I don't mean to "monopolize" the countdown, if anyone else wants to do them, then go for it :)

My sentiments exactly. Keep up the good work!!!

Just chiming in. I look forward to the weekly countdown! I missed it this past weekend because I was down and out after some oral surgery. Couldn't wait for the new weekend to roll around, so I came in search of the COUNTDOWN. Keep it coming, SEASPRAY.::yes:: Anyway, I worry when I don't see a post from you.

Twenty seven weeks to go!! :sunny: 27 weeks from today for those of us flying in the day before the cruise, and 27 weeks from tomorrow for the actual cruise :) I know at least one of you are arriving even sooner than this, too, so you have even less of a wait :)

I have a question for all of you: Are you purchasing travel insurance, and if so, have you purchased it yet?? We haven't bought it yet, but I am considering doing this soon. I'm going to buy it through Access America. They have a plan called "Family Care" where children under the age of 18 are free when traveling with their parents or grandparents. Here's a link in case anyone is interested www.accessamerica.com/aaa

I want to buy it now so I can scratch it off the list of things to pay for.

*UPDATE* I didn't realize that I didn't send this message before I called Access America! LOL Anyway, I just called and bought travel insurance. The woman at Access America was very nice, but I wanted to add that their Family Care-Children Free program is only for AAA members. She didn't need my AAA number, but I imagine that they'd need it in the case of having to use this insurance policy. I told her that I didn't book this trip through AAA and she said that was fine, we only need to be AAA members to be eligible for this policy. So now I can cross "travel insurance" off my list :sunny:

27 weeks and counting:Pinkbounc

Thanks for that Access America info. I will check it out.

Have a great day

Joanna

Another week closer! I had my first cruise nightmare last night LOL

I had a dream that I missed all the movies on board. I kept forgetting to go to them or I'd get there and everyone was coming out of the theater.

I too am going to look into the insurance. My inlaws are will into their 80's. If anything happens, I'll be in big trouble.

SeaSpray--

Travis and I purchased the DCL travel insurance protection plan on our very first cruise way back in 2000 but haven't bought it since. The reasons are many, not the least of which is my personal distaste for insurance in general, but the main reason that we don't purchase it is because we'll be getting on that ship no matter what! :D

Our private insurance plans have coverage benefits outside of the U.S. and they also have medical evacuation benefits, as do many insurance plans. If anything did happen we would be covered for everything except the cost of the cruise itself.

I found all my cruise documentation from our cruise in 2000. We bought it then. Wow it was expensive too. I have to look aroundl for somethignelse.

Kind of off topic but we had a great week-end at home this past week-end. Scored tickets to all three Met/Yankee games at Shea July 2, 3, and 4th! So now we've got that to look forward too.

Wow! Did you win these Mary Anne or did you buy them?

We bought them. Took me almost 3 hours on Sunday morning sitting at the PC refreshing every 30 seconds. Took 2 hours for the first set; took another 1/2 hour for the second and the third game came in about 20 minutes later. $16 a piece for each ticket; we got 8 for Friday; 4 for Saturday and 4 for Sunday's game. By 3 pm they were sold out of the Met/Yankee tickets. We're taking family with us to the first game and then it'll be just the 4 of us for the other two.

We're big Met Fans in my house. We also got 4 for opening Day. Heck if we don't have hope opening day it's a real long season LOL
