I hope that Mickey makes a full and speedy recovery. Not sure about trip insurance...there are some folks who don't understand that part of the family just has a little more fur. If it doesn't cover it, do you know if your vet would board your recovering fur-baby? At least then, your daughter (and the rest of the family) would know that he is in good hands.
Key West has a wonderful store that is geared to dog and cat owners. I can't remember the name, but it's on the shopping in paradise guide. You could get Mickey a really nice get-well gift.

So so sorry to hear about Mickey's mishap. We have had dogs all our lives and they are not pets, but an active member of our family. My heart goes out to you and your family. They are such devoted creatures and their love is so pure. God bless and much pixie dust sent your way.....
