August 26, 2013 - Mickey Mouse, Midnight Sun & Whales!

Hi son3disfan,

Any luck with your fight yet?

Getting closer!! We are less than a month from our paid in full date!!!

No luck yet...:crazy2:
I have earned enough Westjet points for a free flight.... So I will be booking with them, when a sale fare is released for Aug.
Right now the sales are up to June.
Hopefully, something will come out this month!!!

Those Disney Videos ( 5 things to do in each port) we're awesome! The kids are getting so excited!!!

AWESOME!!! Glad you can get the air fair gratis!!! My kids are excited too! Just trying to mentally prepare them for such a long flight. It is 6 hours direct for us. It will be a good prep for summer of '14 when we fly to Barcelona for the Magic.

Wow! Barcelona! How exciting! I would love to go to Europe...
We have a 17 year old prepping for University in 2014. Then 2 years after that another one, only to be repeated again in another 2 years.
Alaska might be it for us for a while.... :faint:
It's going to be so difficult walking past that future cruise desk....

Ok..more news!!!

In case you haven't followed on the other board, there will NOT be a Pirate Night on the Alaska Cruises.
This is sad news for those of us who like to dress up as pirates!!! ARG! pirate:pirate:x

Instead, it's a Pixar meet and Greet....in the atrium. As well as a sing a long/ performance of " You've Got A Friend in me!"
Oh well, something new...
My boys would have loved that a few years ago!

I saw this too. I meet up with the rest of my family that will be cruising with me for dinner this weekend and I'll let them know the update. We are planning on nailing down some preferred excursions for when our booking window opens.

Oh well, more room in the suitcase without having to pack the Pirate Garb. They really should have planned something special Alaska themed.

Have to say I'm super bummed about Pirate Night. This will be my brother's first Disney cruise and I think that was the one thing he was looking most forward to!

My son is going to be bummed too! My girls will probably like the Pixar thing. My daughter LOVES Woody and Jessie... oh well...

Hi Donna,

Just booked our flights tonight. :cool1:
Managed to get all 5 of us on non-stop flights, Toronto to Vancouver, roundtrip for just over 2,000. ( one free flight and a bunch of Westjet dollars)
Expensive....but not too bad.
We are coming in to Vancouver on Thursday now, so 4 fun days to spend sight-seeing in Vancouver.

For any larger families, I found a hotel that sleeps 5... Holiday Inn and Suites on Howe st., downtown . $165 a night.
We will stay here a few nights then move over to The Pan Pacific pre-cruise. The Pan was way too pricey for 4 days!!! Yikes!
Can't wait to start our on - board bookings in May!
Soooo looking forward to Palo brunch and dinner!!

Agreed!
I am usually excited for new things, but Donna is right. It would have been better to have something Alaska Themed.

Did everyone book their excursions?

We like the pirate party, but now we have more room for other things in our suitecase.

25% off FOR CANADIAN RESIDENTS

now includes our sail date!!!
So strange that Disney released it before our PIF date....

Anyone take advantage of this? What a great deal for Canadians. Wish it would extend to the US too. sigh.

My family and I have finally managed to narrow down our excursion choices and decided to do Palo brunch rather than dinner so my DD15 won't be left alone for dinner.

Had a great time on the Fantasy for spring break but am looking forward to being back on the smaller classic ship.

Actually, it's not as good as I thought. ( for us)
Because we are gold and have 2 rooms, we are sailing with $550 stateroom credit. Along with our already discounted rooms(10%)....and another $200 from Dreams unlimited. We booked over a year ago as well and I believe the price has gone up a bit since we booked.
The onboard credit is more then the discount would be with a rebook. And I would loose the stateroom credit.
Now......if that secret 7a veranda was still available......... Might be a different story!! Lol;)

Maybe for new cruisers the deal is good......

Wow!!! 2,000 is GREAT for 5!!! Thanks for the info on the hotels. We are a family of 5 as well, and I from reading reviews on the internet, it appears they are vert strict with only 4 in a room.

I just paid in full!!! My husband is a banker, and refused to give Disney money sooner than he had too! I refused to wait any longer! The ship does not look overly full at this point. My girlfriend priced out her family and there were many cabins left.

Yes, 5 is difficult. We usually book with Marriott- Springhill Suites.
We couldn't find very many hotels that could accomidate our family. Some offered suites, but Suites in Vancouver at some if the nicer hotels close to the port were running $500-$600....ummm, no!

PIF makes it so much more " official " doesn't it! I noticed there are still many cabins in each catagory as well. I don't mind a quiet ship!!!
As long as the kids have a few kids their age, it should be ok.
Maybe an upgrade at the port...;)
