You know your cruise is coming soon when...

You are driving down the road with your family and your children are asking you whether St. Maarten or St. Thomas is the port where they can use their cell phones and on what day will that be:confused3

That will probably be the only day that they wake up early during the entire cruise besides debarkation:rotfl:

So, what is the answer to that question. I would like to know, too. Being gone over a week, it would be nice to contact the kids (DS25 & DD38) who are home taking care of our animals. We were only away for a weekend and they were at each others throats (the kids, not the animals, LOL) DS lives at home & DD is married & comes over to help with the animals. Both say the other isn't taking their fair share of the work. We watch their animals when they go away and only feel it's fair for them to help with ours. :thumbsup2

The answer is... St. Thomas is on Wednesday. Cell phones come out all over the ship as so as we pull into port. Additionally, there are internet cafes within walking distance of the ship where you will find a lot of DCL crew members hanging out:thumbsup2

Thanks. That's good to know. I had an old cell phone on my first 2 cruises and didn't have to worry about data downloads. The kids texted occasionlally, but the price of that has gone up a lot since then. We had Droids on our last cruise (5 nights) & just shut them off when we left port and didn't turn them on again till we got back. I'm still not sure I will use them this time. I don't know if I want all the drama on my vacation, but my curiosity may get the best of me:rotfl2:. Our dog will be almost 15 by then and I worry about her, too.

My problem is that the people that I normally call to check on things will be on this cruise with me:rotfl2:

I will have to buy one of those automatic fish feeders and cancel the mail deliveries. I'm getting to think this may be a little too much family::yes::

Fish Extender Exchange List

So here is the info on the FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE:

1.Let me know on this thread or by PM if your group wants to join us
2.Some participants might want to personalize gifts for each group or each family so include your family name, your kids names and ages and your names, either on this thread or to me by PM
3. If we get more than 20 cabins participating I will split the cabins into 2 groups, we want this to be fun not a burden.
4. I suggest one gift per stateroom as the norm, doing something for each person is lovely but not expected, again let's not make it a burden (and think of luggage space)
5. If we split into 2 groups I will split up the cabins by area on the ship so there will be less travelling (possibly forward and aft)
6. Each cabin will be assigned a day to deliver, if you can't make it on that day it is fine, it might even out the fun a bit.
7. You can let me know by PM what you are planning to give if you think it may be repeated by someone else, not mandatory but a good idea.
8. June 1 2012 we will close the FE, any groups wanting to join after that date will be put together to come up with their own group.
9. I will keep a running list of participants on the front page of this thread under the list of cruisers, after June 1 a final list including groups will be made and sent out, along with delivery date.
10. If you think of anything else please lets talk about it

Good Morning and Thank you for setting up this meet and greet!! Wanted to check in the DierFam4- Jon(hubby) Laura(Momma) Kaleb(10) Makiah(8)

I am a first-timer to DISboards and am very interested in joining your FE group, but I do have a question maybe you can answer... We booked a guaranteed oceanview room and won't get our room assignment until we check-in at embarkation, so is it possible to still do the FE? How will everyone know where we are? I am really hoping there is a way for it to work-- it sounds like a lot of fun and would love to join your group!!

Again thank you for your time and we are really looking forward to this FANTAStic cruise!!

First and foremost, Welcome!

The Guarantee rooms are typically assigned around the 30 day mark so there will be plenty of time update the spreadsheet before we set sail.

For those staying at WDW prior or after cruise: Did you notice the room only offer that was released for August and September? We are staying at Riverside for two nights prior to the cruise. I just had the code applied to our existing Riverside reservation. I had to upgrade us to a Garden View room, since the Standard rooms for the offer were gone, but I still ended up saving $60.00 off the original reservation cost. Every little bit helps right?

Riverside only qualified for 20% off, but other resorts were listed at 30% off.

I am thinking about attending some of the "Anyone Can Cook" sessions during the sea days in the D Lounge, some of the Adult Cabaret's and possibly go to the family karaoke:confused3

We have been on four DCL cruises and haven't gone to the karaoke yet:)

This will be our 4th Disney cruise. I always enjoy the cooking classes and haven't missed one yet. Karoake isn't for me, but the kids have enjoyed giving fake names and having fun, only because nobody knows them on the cruise!

On our last 7 Night Eastern, we went to the adult caberet and they had a hypnotist:rotfl2:

I have never laughed so hard watching adults doing strange things:rotfl:

My folks coming along this time is going to be great. I'm hoping for a chance to do some adult themed activities without having to rely solely on the kids clubs. I'm not bringing them along as baby sitters per se ... They are going to enjoy things with and without us. I am also planning a Palo brunch and dinner for the 4 adults without the kids.

We also just found out that one of my daughters BFFs in town booked this cruise.

One more small world moment - my daughter met a friend on castaway cay last August and we recently learned that they are also going to be on this cruise and booked the cabana next to us.

I booked a couple of BBB activities over the weekend. I booked one of the 'make-overs" (hair, make up, nail polish) for my 9 yr old DD who is little princess. For pirate night, I booked all 3 kids to get pirate make overs immediately preceding dinner.

Slow down on the bookings! Leave some for us Silver folks:rotfl2:

I might have to take the first bus out of MCO in order to book palo and BBB:goodvibes

I just looked right now and there is lots of availability for brunch all three sea days - have not looked at dinner yet
