August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

On a more positive note, the trip is still a surprise for my kids. We told them that on our way to Niagara Falls(our fake vacation destination), we will be going to see the Statue of Liberty in NYC on Saturday. Imagine their surprise when we get to the port and instead of seeing a ferry for the Statue of Liberty, they see the Magic.:jumping1:

.

Just woke up at 2.30am after having a nightmare that I missed the ship. Dreamt that I was still trying to pack my suitcases at 4.43pm and the all aboard time was for 4.45p. There was no way even if I threw everything in to get a cab to make it in time to the port. I asked my DD to call a cab hoping they may make an exception to boarding late to find that there were no cabs available.:scared1::scared1: OMG.
Talk about a real wake up, we leave in 5 days! So I just got up and completed my toiletry bag, I hadn't started packing yet except my hand bag with cruise documents and carry on with FE gifts.
I've got to be at work for 7am, so less than 90 minutes of sleep time left. Got to go.

Brenda-
no wonder you're anxious about missing the boat - we leave in FOUR DAYS!!!
LOL
:banana::banana::banana::banana:
Four Dancing Bananas... Mwaah - ha- ha- ha

I can relate to the nightmare. I also woke up at 4:30am with a panic attack that I wouldn't be done packing by Saturday morning.:scared1:

My DS had us out last night hunting for dress clothes for him. He is so his mother's son, so particular.

Question to all of you frequent cruisers out there: what do your kids do for seasickness? I got seabands last night at Target; do they work?

We usually take dramamine as soon as we get on the boat. I start with the least amount recommended. Once at dinner we take another dose. Luckily we haven't needed it after that. My kids are 12 and 9, I'm not sure the ages of your children but I know there is a special brand made for kids, I think it's Bonnie. I have never used the seabands. Would love to know if they really work though. I'm hoping that storm is far enough that we don't feel the waves but was thinking of getting the bands just in case.

I'm so impressed! I so would have caved and confessed all by now. You are going to have so much fun Saturday.

:rotfl: So last night you had a bad dream that got you to get up and pack your toiletries bag, what will you pack tonight if you have another bad dream?

My kids have never had an issue, but I have bought Bonine for kids in the past (I didn't even bother buying it this time around, so I don't know if they still even sell it). I use the seabands, but only when I am in bed at night, because that is when I can feel the motion the most, and I haven't gotten sick, so I can only assume they work :confused3.

Last day of work today :cool1:. I got out an hour late, but everything was crossed off my list :cool1::cool1:. I was so busy I couldn't check the tropics forecast, which is probably just as well.

This time next week, Pirate Night pirate:. Aaarrgh.

Yes!! And the one that hasn't been named yet!!

The one that hasn't been predicted to hit where we are and Isaac is projected to hit southwestern Fl on Monday morn. We're not supposed to br at Nassau til Tuesday. We'll be fine

DH is on a panicked Hurricane Issac watch.:scared: I told him there's nothing we can do and that means we'll just enjoy what's on the ship. He replies, "but what is there to do on the ship? I can't find any information on the website". Ugh:headache:

On a more positive note, what plans has everyone made for their WDW day? Tours, dining, etc?

I would not worry too much. The models are mostly in agreement that Isaac will head to the Gulf and track up the West coast of florida. It may make for a raining day at WDW.

Check out this thread. They have taken pictures of the navigator. You can get a better idea of the activities on the cruise.

We plan on going to MK and possibly going to Downtown Disney and have dinner there. We will play it by ear. I am packing the ponchos......just in case.

There is plenty to do on the ship! You can tell him not to worry.

We plan on just doing Epcot on our WDW day. No reservations, we will eat counter for lunch and probably eat dinner on the ship.

Good morning happy packers!

As of yesterday, long range forecasts were showing Tuesday in Nassau as iffy, but today all of our ports are showing high 80s to low 90s, chance of t-storms. Saturday in NYC looks glorious, 80 and partly cloudy. I think we will be relatively unscathed by Issac. Now starting to watch "the storm that shall not be named" (love that btw).

Ah, the perils of cruising during hurricane season! With 4 days at sea, it would be lovely to be able to get off the ship at port, but if not, there is more than enough to do on board.

we're supposed to be packing???!?!?!!!?

better get off the DIS then, huh?
eh, nah - i've got 2 more days...
:rotfl2:

Lisa. Im not packed either. Dont know why it takes more than a few hours??? I know in my head what I want to bring. Just need to put it in suitcase. Have done the laundry and picked up all the last minute stuff. Also wine is packed.

Tropical Depression Ten is now Tropical Storm Joyce, but it is tracking towards Bermuda. Doesn't look to be a problem.

Issac still worth keeping an eye on.
