August 24th 2012 Cruise to the Bahamas!!!!

Okay, I can finally confess that my DH and I will be on this cruise, too. We've been trying to surprise my daughter-in-law April and her family (Plumeria_73 on this thread). Last night I sent her an email with an attachment that was our reservation for the August 24th cruise. I attached a note that said we got a great Florida resident discount on a verandah room. She was surprised that we planned an August cruise because she knows I don't like the heat. Then when she realized that we would be on THEIR cruise, she screamed in surprise! Her boys came running to see what was wrong, and she told them that Grandma Bev and Grandpa Steve will be cruising with them. Now they are all sooo excited!

Here's April's post on Facebook, which I thought was really sweet:
"My mother-in-law is the best! She surprised me--again!--they are joining us on our Disney Cruise in two weeks! Can't wait!! The Disney magic doesn't happen without her, she was born with a little pixie dust!!! YAY!"

Their DS11 said the cruise wouldn't have been as much fun without Grandma and Grandpa there. Awww, that's sweet, too.

I'm off to check out the FB page that Kelsey set up and will post our room number there. Looks like we're right down the hall from Michelle 9343 and Preds. We'd like to do the room crawl, too, and check out the other accommodations for future reference. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
Bev
P.S. This will be our 6th Disney cruise.

Howdy folks. I have to apologize for not being more involved with the group..... I'm usually much more involved with things. This cruise is going to be a much needed break for me and my family.....we've been under extreme pressure both at work (me) and at home (elderly mother in law with worsening health issues)... And its time for us to disconnect from the real world for a while. Normally we'd be all over things like the FE and the cabin crawl. But we're going to pass this time around. We are just so slammed with extra things that it would be hard for to prepare for. I do hope to get a chance to meet you all throughout the cruise.
I totaly understand life can really be crazy sometimes!!. I hope you can try and stop by the 3:00 Dis Meet at the Vista Cafe!!!
If we could make it 5:30 I can make it on the 22nd. I work at Disney Cruise Line and wil be at work until 5pm. Please let me know if it is still on
Thanks

So far I dont think anyone has said they would be able to come at the 5:00 time I am OK for making it later if people would then be able to come.

Welcome aboard that was an awfully big secret to keep, i don't know how you managed it. we are on our first disney cruise, me, DD21 and DS12. we are on deck 6 too, hope to meet you and your surprised family.
i.ve joined the facebook group and i am going to the 3pm meet in the vista cafe on embarktion day, maybe see ya there.
sarah:thumbsup2
maybe your Grandson will bump into my son at the kids club.

We'll be in room 6084, port side midship. The rest of the family is on deck 7 but that's okay. Just got off the phone with my DIL and the kids. We all watched the Dream leave Port Canaveral on the web cam this afternoon (Sunday). We're plotting where to stand along the rail and wave our Mickey hands and banner on our cruise, so the rest of the family and friends can see us departing on our adventure. They'll be so jealous. :thumbsup2

We'll stop by the meet at 3pm in Vista Cafe, and will probably do the room crawl, too. My DIL's parents are in the very front of the ship in one of those rooms looking out over the bow. Maybe we can talk them into letting us peek into their room since it's a unique room configuration and view.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I would love to do a pre-meet but I also work at DCL and will be at work until 7pm. I will definability be at the meet on the ship

OK, I've added you to the list!

Sporty - Stateroom 2021 - Standard Interior, Category 11C on Deck 2

Please indicate if you'd like to participate and provide info to fill in the data as listed above. Thanks!

Let's get as many participants as we can. Cabin Crawls are a great way to see the many categories of staterooms on the ship, very helpful with future plans!

I'm going to keep checking EVERY day, but on a side note even when I get my stateroom if I end up on deck 2 I'm going to call Disney the day before and see if any interior staterooms are available on any of the decks from 5-10... I find it would be pretty rare for anyone to book a LITERAL last minute cruise 24 hours before, but yes I know it still can happen. But just giving all of you a heads up if I do end up on deck 2 it MIGHT be switched we shall see (fingers crossed)!!!

Hey I have Cruised many times before by myself. If you want to meet up my daugther is 29 and always up for fun. We are in cabin 6612.:cheer2:

Yes forsure :D! I don't find my stateroom until a week beforehand but I hope to see you guys there at the M&G the first day at 3pm at Vista Cafe :D!! If you have Facebook join the Facebook group if you haven't done so already and feel free to add me to Facebook (and your daughter) :)!!!

Hi all, we just booked this cruise in July and can't wait to go! (Yay!) Unfortunately, I didn't come across this thread until today. I guess we are waaay too late to join the FE list? :(

Regardless we will still hang a FE since my son has already made one. Is it ok to participate unofficially? ie. give away gifts to the official FE list?

I'll let my son know that we missed the cutoff for FE so no expectations for him.

I won't be finding out my stateroom until anywhere from August 14-17... dizneeat I hope this isn't too late to update the FE list!!!! Since I booked a IGT with restrictions because the price was amazing I won't find out until 7-10 days before the cruise :(!!

Same here, we are booked on IGT and nothing yet.

Maybe I'll find out tomorrow.... :)

Hi,

I just signed up today for the cruise. At first it was just me but then guilt got the better of me and I am bringing my mom with me. We will be in stateroom 7592. These three weeks better go fast! ;)

Kim

Welcome!
Sorry, I missed your post earlier! This is going to be so much fun for all of us! :thumbsup2

I am sure this cruise is going to be so much fun for you and your son, even though you missed the cutoff time for the FE. It closed on July 31st.

It is perfectly alright to participate unofficially - just don't forget to post your stateroom number here, so if someone brings a few spare items they can leave you something too. :goodvibes

Hello all we would ike to be apart of the cabin crawl. Our cabin is 6612 4A verandah. Also is anyone up for champagne girls? Depending on how many people we could do it as a special champagne tasting or have it a cabin and everyone brings some wine/champagne.
Thanks Lisa and Jo

I'm thinking we should do the Cabin Crawl on the Sea Day, which is Monday (Day 4). Anyone have suggestions on a time and meeting place?

Also, it looks like we have 4 category 04D's, while everyone is welcome to participate, I think we can narrow down the visits to 1 standard room in that category plus the Accessible 04D that Michelle9343 is in.

Are you sure you're in a category 04A? It's showing up as a category 04D on my deck plans (Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah)

WELCOME ABOARD. How old is your son?? and what cabin are you in??

How does one find out about dining rotations? Is there a standard formula to follow, or is it just random?

Preds... I knew I knew Hamburg, NY.... It took me a second to put it together.

My sister and her kids live up near you. She's in Clarence... and my nephews are in Amherst. My neice is up there too... but she recently moved so I'm not sure exactly what town she's in now.

I live to tease my eldest nephew about the Sabres.

Welcome to the group! I've added you to the Cabin Crawl list!

What a great surprise for your grandkids!

I've added you to the list as well!

Since we have duplicate cat 04D rooms, and some of them are in the same general area, please take our room off the list for the cabin crawl. I was signing up to participate as a tourist, rather than a "host." Sorry about the confusion.
Thanks. :thumbsup2

Haha, I'm a tortured Sabres fan too, but with a new deep pocketed owner and no financial mandates things are looking up!

Your relatives all live in the Northtowns of Buffalo. We live in the Southtowns. Buffalo isn't a big city (which is great for getting around the region). Clarence is no more than 35 minutes from us (about the same distance as Niagara Falls), and Amherst is only 20-25 minutes.
