August 24, 2014 Dream DVC Member Cruise

All booked in on deck 6 - second cruise, but first member cruise.

Sailing with DW and DS12 and DS8. Cannot wait for two days at Castaway Cay. We were originally booked on this sailing using points and got transferred over last week so came as a huge surprise!!! :)

Really looking forward to this and very much up for the FE and CE especialy as DS8 has ASD and ADHD and his favourite holiday ever has been on "the Mickey Cruiser Boat" as he christened the Magic last time we sailed!! Many tears from him as we disembarked (even for port adventures!!)

Rsschneck - Good Point - thanks for pointing out. I did have a hard time getting on one Disney Cruise bc the kids clubs were full. My kids actually don't go to them so it was frustrating. I told them that they would wear bands that meant they weren't allowed in. LOL. They didn't buy it.

We now have 3 cruises booked for 2014. Our first will be this March and we booked for 3 we were thinking about getting a foreign exchange student and when I called to add them to our cabin we could not because of lifeboat occupancy.

For December 2014 we added a TBD and age of 17 to hold the spot.

When I called DVC to find out about the member cruise I could not add a TBD (had to have a name and DOB). I used my daughter's best friends name and date of birth to hold the spot in the cabin and we will take her if we don't get a foreign exchange student for next school year. If we do get an exchange student I will pay the $95.00 to make the name changes. Being burned once you don't let it happen again.

I see there are quite a few people interested in the FE! Yay! What I haven't seen is preference on size list? On the FB group the general consensus is smaller groups and an adult only and a family group.

I've only seen one request for a dis only FE exchange. How do others feel about a separate one?

Bobbiwoz-are you on FB? (If not) Do you want me to ask who is interested in the candy exchange there?

I want to join anyone of them and the candy exchange. Very excited. Please tell me how to join. This is our first time on a cruise.

We are in too!! Our first Disney cruise, myself, DH, DD9, DS6 and DS3. We're so excited!!

We are also in and will have myself, DH, DD9, DS7 and a DS3
My son turns 7 just days before the trip!!! We are from florida and this is our first member cruise and 3rd Disney, we will be on deck 6

We will probably get enough interest to do several disboards FE. What about 1) adults only, 2) family/kids, and also a 3) TWEEN/TEEN one? I bet we can easily have 15-25 in each category in the next month or so. I might limit to 12-24 max in each, as many items come in dozens. I would be game for the TWEEN/TEEN group. Elaine

I would like to sign up for the tween one and family one. Is that allowed? To sign up for 2 . So excited have lots of good ideas.

SO FUN!!! My son will turn 7 in early September, so our kids are almost identical!! As of now, the leader (DD) seems a little put off by the kids clubs. She looks at it more as babysitting, so at this point I don't know how much, if any time they will spend there. I'm hoping that once she sees how amazing the kid spaces are she will want to stay.

We are from PA and are on deck 7.

Glad to see many boys in the 7 yo range. My DS just turned 7 last week and will be entering the second grade right after the MC.

That sounds really interesting that you have a foreign exchange student! Would love to hear about your experiences. Even nicer that you will take them on cruise.

BTW what is a dis only FE?

I am a fellow Penn Stater. I bleed blue and white (as they say) I spent my first 30 or so years living in Philadelphia.

My kids have always been so stubborn about the clubs even though they are amazing. I would have loved it at their age. My DS13 actually has started to go to the preteen club. I think he likes the freedom of going in and out. My girls are very shy and are mortified that I talk to "strangers" :rotfl2:

When we went on our first cruise, my kids would beg and cry to stay!! They loved it!! Its kinda like camp, except your with your family!! We had to insist on meals as a family!! I bet she enjoys it, once she sees how much fun they are!!

I can start taking FE info if you want.

I've never heard if just a teen/tween FE, but I like it!!

How about you give me the following information:

Which FE list you want to participate in
1) Dis only
2)Dis and FB combined

And...adult, family, or teen/tween.

If you are comfortable with giving names, ages of kids include that with your name/disboards name and room number. I can compile the multiple lists. How about a cut off of 12 rooms per list (11 to give to). If you want to participate in multiple lists, please note that as well.

I can update on the first post.

We booked the member cruise! Only had to wait on hold for an hour and a half :)

Plus it will be my wife's birthday during the cruise. It's our 4th Disney Cruise but our first member cruise, we got married on Castaway Cay in 2008! Our three previous cruises were aboard the Wonder.

Tween/Teen--what I envisioned was a FE that would appeal to this age--both in the types of gifts and also some that they could make themselves over this long, hot summer--such as mini tote bags with a mickey stamp and teens stamp them this summer, tye-dye mickey tee shirts, gymp bracelets with Mickey beads, plus maybe store bought Mickey earrings, etc. (OK--those might be my 4 FE--LOL!)
What I meant by "disboards only" was that it is for people who don't follow FB much (like me) --and so all information about these FE would be via disboards, disboard pm, and/or email. That doesn't mean someone can't be on FB, as well. It is just for those non-tech savy people who don't want to "miss the boat" (ha! ha!) because they aren't on FB a lot.
Do we just post names here, pm them or what? We are in for the Teen/Tween. Elaine and Crew

I am organizing a Disboad pet stocking exchange right now, and will organize a candy exchange for my WBPC cruise in May. I will begin taking names for this in February. Depending on interest, I will keep the groups at around 10-12. I am organizing on Disboard exclusively.

By the way, if you care to participate in the Pet Stocking Exchange, look on the Exchange board on the Disboards. I will have participants divided by country, Canada, UK and USA because of food mailing restrictions. Cost is $15 not counting postage. Sign ups are through the middle of November.

This is my second year hosting that exchang.

My DH and I will also be joining you and spending four pre-cruise days at Wilderness Lodge!

Whatever you are comfortable with. So it doesn't get lost, I prefer a pm. Give me room, ages, gender and name. I will start the list and keep things updated on post #1
