August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

I was on the Disney Cruise website and I was checking to see if there has been any change in the fare since I booked last Sept. I wasn't positive, but it seemed to me that the total cost was down. I wasn't certain because I received the 10% rebooking discount, so I was unsure what the full cost was at the time that I booked. I called my TA and she called Disney. She told me that the difference in fare is because the fuel surcharge has been removed. This saves me a couple of hundred dollars on our 2 cabins :yay:
I'm not sure if I am the only person who did not know about this, but I thought I would spread the word just in case.

FEs...DH made one for us last time....i have very specialised sewing skills...requiring vicry...:lmao: ...but DH is a dab hand. This time though we have bailed...and are having ours made by Tiffany from here...(Luvtheears) she also sells on ebay. They are fantastic!

I was very excited yesterday. I was checking the DCl to see if our cruise had gone down.
I noticed it had by $800.:cool1:
I emailed our travel agent and asked her to rebook.

I received an email back from her saying that the price I gave her did not exist.

I only checked the price for 3 people. I wonder which kid would want to stay home?

I should of known that it was to good to be true. It did seem like a big savings.

I was just thinking of all the Konk Coolers Erik and I could drink.

It is 63 degrees out right now.:cool1:

I know that t is not going to last. All of our snow has melted.
Now, I have to go out and clean up the backyard.

I offered Matt $100 to clean up after the dog. He wants to by an XBOX 360.
But, I don't think that is is going to take me up on the offer.

:sad2: Hi All,
Bad news, me and my group will not be sailing with you this year.
:sad1: :sad1:

Our youngest is getting married in June and between the wedding and the cruise monies due aroung the same time  , something had to go.. (:bride: he, he,he) jost joking :worship: .

After much discussion, yelling, and many tears the wedding :bride: is back on  and the cruise is off :scared1:

There certainly will be a wide variety of nurses aboard. Let's hope we don't have to use any of our nursing skills. I intended to sit and soak up the sun with pina colotas (spelling) in hand.:worship: Somebody though needs to tell me about FE;s and what I am supposed to do. I am sorry GG that you can't make the cruise but I hope your daughter has the wedding of a lifetime. Well I am getting an admission, so I have to go. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :goodvibes

:sad1: Sorry GG, Hope you get to cruise sooner than later and you enjoy the best wedding ever. Good luck telling the Grandchildren, that will be hard.

For the FE I will let Maria explain if she does not mind, we played a different version before so don't want to post anything to confuse, let her keep it simple for everyone.

Thanks. I just want to make sure I am doing the FE's right. I keep reading so many things. I don't know my stateroom yet, but will let you know as soon as I do. We booked through USAA and haven't gotten that info yet. Another long night at work.:rolleyes1 But without it wouldn't be able to meet you guys in 5 months. I will have to find out how you guys put all those cool pics up too! Christi, I hope you enjoyed the 60 degree weather as much as we did. We had shorts on and went to the local park, took dogs for walk, etc...
Spring is coming! :flower3:

Hey all: Ok, I've done some thinking about the excursions. Now, I like the beaches. But I also like the dune buggy and jeep excursions but I don't know how to drive a stick. WIll they still let me go on the excursion? Thanks for your help!!! :thumbsup2

Dawn

Hi Dawn, if you look at my website I have added a page for our cruise, it lists all who is cruising with a little info about each of us, give me as much or little info you want us to know, names, where you are from etc, you will see what others have put.
The 'FE' in red is who are participating in a gift exchange with fish extenders outside our cabin doors, Waiting for Maria(Maza) to post rules, I don't want to post wrong info as we played a different version before.

We have had about 5 schedule changes since we booked last October, Delta have got to be the worst airline for changes. Just glad we have Biz class for price of coach or I wold not be happy with all the changes. We only paid $665pp then they jumped upto $2,431pp:scared1: now back down to $1,737pp

Where did you find business class tickets that cheap? I have never been to Europe, want to visit a few cities, but probably would not go if I had to endure an 8+ hour flight in coach.

My wife received some grief and ribbing over Valentines Day at work this year. I sent flowers - again - and the women she works with were getting jealous and threatening that I better not send flowers next year. Instead of flowers, I would love to send her an itinerary for a trip to Paris...

We have been doing upto 4 trips a year to US in coach, never a problem, we sleep almost every flight. This will be our 1st time in Biz class so hope I don't like it too much.:goodvibes
It was an offer on last Oct for only about 3 days, we don't know if it was an offer or a misprice but we paid and still have the seats in row 2 so I am happy. I booked thru Expedia, the seats were sold as AirFrance but its a code share on Delta planes. Can't see me ever getting that price again.

captainmarvins.com

1/2 day fishing trips up to 4 people - $500 for reef fishing and $600 for deep sea.

It is an early trip - 8:00am to noon. We have to be the first ones off the ship that day so no sleeping in. Tendering is such a pain.

Regarding the fish extenders.....I plan on buying one on Ebay. I just don't have the sewing skills.
Did I crusie with you last summer on Disney, your name sounds familiar?

Dawn

Hi all from cold and snowy NJ. Not sure exactly how much snow we got as the snow is so powdery its blowing all over the place. Kids got a snow day. DD went out and did some cross country skiing around the yard this morning and now is in the hot tub. What a life ;)

Christi......I am a firm believer that some classrooms harbor more germs than others. Went through that two years ago with my son. He was constantly getting sick.

I know those letters you are getting from the school regarding too many absences. Being home sick should not count towards those absences. My favorite was when DS got a concussion at school from an accident and missed several days because he was dizzy and I still got one of those "your child is missing too many days of school" letter.

I just ignore those letters completely.

I agree with the advice to check online and see if your flights have changed their departure times. We had that happen last year.

Regarding what to do for shore excursions......it all depends on what you like to do: shop; lay out on a beach; snorkel? Definitely check out what DCL is offering to get an idea of what you can do.

We booked a private snorkeling excursion for Cozumel and just this afternoon booked a deep sea fishing trip in Grand Cayman. Was thinking about Stingray City in Grand Cayman but decided on deep sea fishing as we've never done that before. We tried twice last cruise to do the fishing trip at Castaway Cay and both times it got cancelled.

We're not planning anything in Key West. Just relax onboard.

Yes, my DD will be pissed not being able to go to the Stack. I totally understand why DCL decided to split the age groups. She enjoyed Oceans Quest the last time we cruised on the Magic. And what is more important is the other kids in the clubs and not necessarily the location of the club.

Hello- not sure what your name is, we are the Houle family- I am responding to your post as I saw how many DCL cruises you have been on so I have a couple questions! Hope you don't mind-
As far as shore excursions go, what has your experience been- we have friends who have been on 3 DCL cruises in the last 5 years and they told me to steer away from excursions as they are tourist traps.
I had a man at WDW (in the hottub with DH and I in Feb. ) Who told me about the national park in Cozumel, said thats were they go, a short cab ride and just $17 for the day- beach chair and all. You can snorkel there as well for a fee. I just do not want to miss anything, ie: want to really experience cozumel/ grand caymen. I should add we will be a group of 10 :scared1: four of which are young children ages 5,6,8 & 8. A tall order to find something for all of us to do. My two teenage boys are certified scuba divers so they might want to try that. I am probably making this question all too complicated- Would just love to know what your opinion is.
One more question- have you had any troubles with hurricane season? I ask this as we were in WDW last august right in the midst of Fay and it was a very wet vacation! They say they go "around" it- but fay seemed to cover a huge area!
Regardless of course we are going and are very excited!
This is DH and my second DCL cruise- our honeymoon was on the wonder in 2002- the rest of our group are first time cruisers
thanks for any info!!

(Nurse) Midwife too. ..but havent practiced properly for about 6 years, since my last Delivery Suite rotation! Now head Nurse NICU...or rather Head Midwife ( still employed as a Midwife..makes me more useful!)...Or Madwife...coz you have to be!

Oh how fun- a fellow midwife/medwife/madwife/NICU crazed person on board! we will have to meet up and chat. Chatting about midwifery in different areas of the country is always interesting!
