August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

When are your kids done with school?

June 11 here.

Plus, they get Friday and Monday off for memorial day.

Mathew has next Thurs and Fri off teacher training days then the full week after for half term. Then has another 7 weeks of schooling, summer break he has 6 week off starting 23rd July  then 24 days in Florida:banana:

June 19th is my kids' last day....for DD#1, it's also her last day of elementary school! For DD#2, it's the last day of kindergarten:). It will also be 54 days until our 11 night WDW stay:). By the time we come home from that trip, it will be less than a year until the cruise....but only DH and I know that!

:confused3 we tried to keep our last cruise a secret .we booked it...and then about 2 days later i caved and told them. I just couldnt do it! we did take them to Rome a few years ago and didnt tell them until we were on our way to the airport...but that was just a weekend trip!

The girls dont finishe for another term, although Juli had exams last week and they havent really done any work yet since. They are starting their GCSE stuff next week apparently! shes also rehersing a play they are doing in October...Macbeth...Lord help us! shes the comic releif...or atleast what passes for it...she wanted to be a witch..but hey ho! Not really looking forward to the performances...Macbeth is a bit dry for me...and a school production ah:confused3 what is wrong with Joseph or Oliver...:rotfl2:

we have been quizzing this weekend....first at scouts on Thursday ( we lost by half a point!) and then last night a church...we actually won, but had the same score as 2 other teams...we lost on a guess abiout the size of Ireland. who knew it was so big:cutie:

we are off to a kids birthday party in a minute...just an excuse for a BBQ and booze if you ask me...and nothing wrong with that:woohoo:

My kids are done on June 20. DS is finishing Kindegaten, DD will have her last day of middle school.

School resumes in September, right after Labor Day.

To be honest, my plan was to take the cruise in June 2009. But I guess schools in and near Florida go back in mid-August and the price drop was big enough that I could not justify going in June. The difference in cost was more than the additional cost of airfare and tickets for a week at WDW beforehand.

Matt got his cast off yesterday:banana:

Anyone want a kitten?
My mom went out to her property a few weeks ago. A cat had 3 kitten on top of her trailer. They are about a month old now. She brought them inside.
I tell her she is turning into a crazy cat lady.:ccat:
She has 3 other cats in there that she just got "fixed".
Since it is out in the country, people dropp off strays by the side off the road.
She feeds them and trys to find them a home.

Another cat brought over 3 more kittens. My mom figures that they are about 7weeks old.

She was in the shed a few days ago and saw 4 more kittens being born.

matt and Marina can not wait to go out there for a visit.

I just got the best deal. I went shopping at Gander Mt.
Yesterday I bought
DS-1 pr of merrel hiking shoes reg. $50 and fleece longunderwear Reg $25
Me- 1 pr hiking shoes REG $89 AND 1 rEG $85 plus reg$30 pr of slippers
DH- rafting sandals reg $60

All for $85

I went back today and bought 5 more pairs for $87
One pair was orginally $100.

I went to in purchase one pair of TEVA sandals. But, they did not have any. They were running a sale 50% off the clearance price. I got lucky.

Yesterday I bought Matt a pair for scout camp and Marina complained that she didn't get any. I did not think she would want one because she likes to be bare foot or flip flops. She got a pair and is hiking aroungd the house, teaching her babies about being prepared.

They are great prices, just be thankful you don't have to pay UK prices. Merrell shoes average around $150 a pair here, this site are around $130-$170

I just got the best deal.

It's deals like that that make us go to Flordia with four suitaces and come home with eight, all packed to the weight limit.:rotfl2:

Hi all, time to get you scouting heads on. We are off camping this weekend with the Scouts and the Cubs. We are going to an activity camp, so only really have to feed the kids and let them loose on the activities. However, we have a talent (or talentless) competition on Sunday night and am looking for something a little different for our kids to do. Has anyone got any good sketches or songs which I can teach them that maybe the locals would not have heard?
Also, we stay an extra night after everybody else has left (It's choas on the Monday efternoon as 1000 kids are picked up, so we stay for an extra day and just watch and laugh), so we will have a camp fire. Again, any ideas for things the kids could cook for supper and any new songs for my song book. I seem to have taken over as camp fire leader recently, so need to try and keep adding new songs and sketches to my book. Shame I am tone deaf:rotfl2:

Thanks
Dave

They were great prices. That's back today. I may look at another tomorrow.
I looked at the website. All the shoes I bought were there.

Well whatever price it says in £ double it and that what we pay in $'s, as Dave says thats why so many Brits come home with double the luggage they went with. We are not shoppers but we always pick up a few pair of Converse or Reebok footware. always half what we pay here.

.Shame I am tone deaf:rotfl2:

Thanks
Dave

That makes 2 of us. Have a great weekend

I figured it out. I bought $725 worth of shoes for $160.

I will try and think of scout stuff.
I am on my way to scouts in a minute.

scoutorama.com is a good source for skits.

Gander Mt is my dh's fav place to shop - for a guy who hates shopping, he goes there all the time for clearance stuff and always gets great prices.

DH got me a disney gift card for mother's day, so I immediately jumped on my computer and started shopping! I got my package from Disney outlet a couple of days ago!!! Really great prices - got a lot of stuff and only used 1/2 my card! :thumbsup2

we're done w/ school June 19 (we're a private school)... the public school here goes till June 26 this year. It's the latest ever, I think. They had to break up spring break for Easter and Passover this year - I think that's why. One month from today we leave for our beach vacation in N. Carolina!!!

Dave,

Wondering if you saw my email / private message. Seemed a bit big for the public boards. Is any of that new? Do you need more?

Erik

I have still got a few bits to do before we leave. food shopping mainly...last minute stuff...bread ..fresh milk...you know how it is. i am at the point where i wish i hadnt volunteered to do the cooking. i am sure it will become a stronger feeling before Tuesday! It always seems like a good idea at the time:) ...last time we went to this camp we had 12 kids and 3 adults ( 2.5 to be more accurate but i am just being a b***h..:guilty: ). This year..we have 42! 32 kids and 10 adults(well...9.5 lol) :scared1: 3 meals a day plus snacks:confused: roll on 7 lovely nights of full board ( plus snacks:) ) on the fantastic floating :) 5* that is the Magic:lovestruc

better go....stuff to do....

Hey everybody. We'll be on board with you all next year! I'm so excited. I can't stop reading these boards for my fix!!!

The crew with me will be DW, DS 5 and DD 7. 1st time cruising for both kids and it's been more than 7 years for DW and I.

The kids are most excited about the Goofy Pajama Party. I think my wife and I are more excited about the rasul (sp?) at the spa while they're at the PJ party. ;)

I've read a little about the fish hangers and door magnets but don't completely get the idea yet. Hoping someone here can explain it to me like I'm a 3rd grader. (My wife is reaallly good at that. It's the reason we're still married . :))

See everybody on board!

:welcome: to the board!

I haven't cruised yet, but from all my "research" (I love to call it that! LOL) the fish hangers are for giving each other gifts (if you want to participate).
It can be everyday, or once during the cruise. The gifts seem to range from trinkets to little gift bags people put together. I'm guessing closer to the cruise, on this board, we'll all start organizing the who's and what's of it. Seems like a lot of fun, especially for the kids!

The magnets are just for fun too - for decorative purposes really... and mayby to help identify your cabin and yourselves if you want. There are a few threads of 'show us your magnets' and 'fish extender gifts'... look those up and you'll get a good idea about it all.

See you on the boat!!!!
