August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

hello everyone
we are getting so excited, not long to go now.
my DD has just watched twlight and is keen to get the books now.
she has even started a count down for the new film in november

Hello All!!!

Oh My Gosh. DH and I are getting so excited I think it might be impossible to keep it from the boys for another 2 months... So I have been doing a lot of reading, and there are two things I was hoping someone could clarify for me. How exactly do the FE's work and how do I design some magnets for the door? If anyone has suggestions that would be great thanks!!!!

Unfortunately I was the recipient of very bad news yesterday. My job will cease to exist on 8/31 so, unless I find something else soon, I will be unemployed three days after we return.:scared:

But on the positive side, it happened close enough to the cruise that we cannot cancel our reservation without penalties, so we are still going!:pixiedust:

However, in order to save some money I had to downgrade our reservation from cat 5 to cat 9.:sad2:

Now I just have to hope and pray that, since the current availability is cat 5 and 9 gty, then cat 4 choose a room, we get into a cat 5 or 4 stateroom so I still get a veranda.:wizard:

Wayne - when you get the chance, please update our cabin assignment to remove 7562.

Now let me close on a positive note by pointing out there are only 65 days until we board! For me, 57 days until vacation!

So sorry to hear your news :sad2:. Been there! I wouldn't worry about being in Cat 9, the point being you are still on the boat. But, if anyone benefits from a little fairydust and scores an upgrade, hopefully it will be your family.

If you are a drinkin' man, and you happen to find yourself near DH and me and a bar on board, it would be our pleasure to buy you a consolatory drink:drinking1 but hopefully you won't need one by then!

DITTO:thumbsup2

Also, here is some extra pixie dust in hopes that the upgrade fairy visits you. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: If not, I'm sure you will still have a GREAT time with the rest of us down in steerage. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

62

days until we are all all aboard!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.

Surprise, surprise, it is raining here today. And yesterday. Not a good weekend for the pool, but did go shopping yesterday and got my dress for formal night! And one for semi-formal night! And one more (maybe for Palo). What can I say, JCPenney's was having a sale. Actually, one has to go back, I just have to decide which one. Also picked up a suit for DS, and a dress for DD for formal night. DH is OK with the cost of the cruise, but it's the pre-cruise shopping and the on board charges that freak him out :scared1:.

Got a see Star Trek last nightpopcorn::. Really good! DH, the Star Trek purist, had a few issues with the plot, but really enjoyed it, too.

Have a good Sunday.

Yes - Happy Fathers Day to all of our Dads. Yesterday was raining, but today is beautiful so the kids are enjoying the pool. My DD had her final swim meet of the season this morning (so-so).
Tomorrow begins the last week of school but the kids and I are taking the day off tomorrow to spend it enjoying the nice weather. They leave for a two week camp next Sunday and then I am off for my leave of absence until after labour day
I don't like to miss out on any good deals so I am happy to see that the new 50%off kids special ends just before our cruise.

Marina and I just got home from her end of the year Brownie trip. We went to Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, OH. The girls had a great time.

I offered to take Marina to Cedar Point since we were right there. She thought it would be nice. Then, she told me that she was not planning on riding any rides. SHE WANTED TO GO EAT. She wanted elaphant ears, funnel cakes, vinegar fries, cotton candy, ice cream, slushes, hot dog, etc. i was not paying $80 for the tix for her to eat. I did by her a hot dog, slush and ice cream at the hotel.

Hi All,

Sorry for not posting in a while. The past two weeks have been a blur between end of school activities and sports.

What is with this wet weather in NJ/PA!?!?!?!?!?!? We are literally waterlogged.

My lawn actually squishes when you walk on it. My poor vegetable garden is literally rotting away. Some of the plants are actually smaller now than when I originally planted them.

My perennials are taking forever to flower. And I think most of my hydrangeas are just not going to flower at all.

All the rain just wreaked havoc with sports schedules. DS had better luck getting more games in than DD. Kind of sad with DD, only got to play about 2/3 of her softball games. You know its bad when the make up game of the make up of an original game gets called because of rain.

But enough said with that.

Kids are out of school. DS "graduated" 8th grade. The school had a very nice graduation ceremony followed by a dance. Both kids are now in summer day camp.

Now I finally have the time to focus on this cruise. I, too, have to check that all the kids' nice clothes will actually fit come August. We haven't done a 7-night cruise in 3 years so I have to plan on 7 nights worth of clothes.

I need to buy new snorkeling gear for the kids as I'm sure they have outgrown what they used last year.

I need to have DH try on his tuxedo so as to avoid the "my tuxedo shrank in the closet" speech that we usually get prior to sailing on the Magic.

Trimix.....so sorry to hear about the job loss. Glad to hear you didn't cancel the cruise. Wishing you luck that you find another job prior to our cruise.

On behalf of all the residents of the Pacific Northwest, I would like to express my thanks to the residents of the Northeast for taking our rain and giving us a much-needed break! I certainly understand the difficulty of too much water on the lawn and garden!

Thank you very much. I have found a lot of openings, unfortunately so far all of them are a one to two hour drive from home. But I'll do whatever I have to do. I am sure everything will work out - even if I go on unemployment for a while we'll have enough money to cover expenses, and I sure wouldn't mind getting caught up on everything at home :)

If anybody needs anything more to put a smile on their face, TWO MONTHS TO GO!

I got my dress for formal night from JcPenney's also. I hope it's not the same one lol

We got our room assignment! We will be in 2638.

Added your cabin # to the list.:thumbsup2

Fish Extenders, I guess how it works is Maria will print lists off of who is participating and hand out on the cruise, take your gifts around to the cabins in your own time but as Maria started this thread I would like her to confirm, last time we did it we combined the FE with a game of Dis Tag so would like Maria to confirm how its to be done this time.

Ok...so here we go...
I wont be printing off lists ...I will pm a list to everyone who has said they want to participate some time in the last week of July. That way ppl who are not just getting one gift per stateroom can sort themselves out! eg...we are gigting one CD per stateroom and additional gifts for the kids, in this case its kinda useful to know the ages and sex of the kids:). which is why i have asked!
Take your gifts round when you like. sometime during the cruise will be best!:rolleyes1
Thats it!

Thanks Maria, I just found your previous post saying you would PM us all, I had forgotten that bit.:guilty:

We just changed our reservation for our hotel before the cruise. We are now staying at the Radisson at Port on Thursady and Friday nights. The kids do not want to go to DIsney since we were just at Epcot in Feb. They want to spend the day at the beach.

For those of you who got their cabin assignments...Did you book at guartentee?
