August 2025 check-in thread

August 4 is up on the calendar and the Haunted Mansion is not listed as closed for refurbishment yet. Others have said that HM usually goes down on a Monday so maybe it's going down on the 11th instead. That would be great for our trip as the final morning we're there on the 6th, we're just going to do everyone's favorites before we leave to get our bags and head to the airport for our 4:30 flight out at SNA.

Also, CHOC Walk only appears to affect the hours of California Adventure and only by 30 minutes. The Disneyland hours are the same on both the app and website. 8am opening for DLR, 8:30 for CA.
I’m hoping for this as well!! This would be best case scenario for my early August trip. I saw they were able to have an 11 day turn around in 2019. Maybe now that there was a long refurb it’ll go back to that time crunch for future overlays.

Aug 18-21 for my oldest daughter and me. DVC points for VDH and I have a magic key expiring the next week-so relatively inexpensive. Super bummed about HM and RSR being down :( though I should’ve anticipated the former. We are going to OBB for the first time so excited about that!

Checking in! This is our first trip to DL since 2019, so it’s extra exciting to be coming back. August 25-31, it’s myself and husband, two daughters (14, 17), and possibly young adult son (19) will join us for the last couple of days if work permits. We’ve done three family trips to DLR when they were young, and one to WDW, but it’s been a while, and we are excited to do this again with teens.

Flying into SNA will be a first for us and I have us booked at Home2, though I’m still considering options, especially if it turns out that our son can’t join us and we become a group of only four. We have Canadian resident four day tickets, but not park hoppers this time due to expense, which feels weird, but we will just do things differently. Two days in each park, (DL on OBB days), and a rest day in the middle. Wondering what might be fun to do on that free day. Is it worth it to rent a car and go visit the beach? Or should we just sleep in and enjoy the pool and DTD instead?

If anyone has suggestions for airport transportation from and to SNA, that would be great, especially if it allows for a grocery store stop on the way?

So excited - but also nervous that Incredicoaster might not be up when we are there. Fingers crossed!

When trying to help someone in another thread, I noticed that some of the shows aren't on the calendar for the entire month of August.

It looks like Shadows of Memory will end on August 2
It looks like the Better Together Parade will end on August 3
It looks like the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade will end on August 10.

Hello fellow Canadian with overlapping dates and also no PHs which also feels weird to us, but is probably fine due to OBB. We will Uber this time since it's only 3 of us, but last time we used Lansky and they were affordable, good service and made a grocery stop.

Ok, maybe my next trip will have to be in July... not the biggest fan of Halloween in August.

First timers scheduled for Aug 1-3. SUPER bummed about Incredicoaster but we are going to try and make the best of it. We even looked at flipping our dates since we're starting our trip in July with some national parks, but our flights would be twice as much. We thought this would be a one and done trip since we are east coasters, but we may have to look at a return, at least to DCA in the future. Excited to see some of the shows, especially PTN and WOC.

Just watched a fresh baked video on YouTube and now I’m nervous Big Thunder will be closing soon! He said there’s an upcoming refurb that will be 3 months long. Hoping it won’t be that first week of August while I’m there

I honestly believe they won't take it down until the late fall. I just don't think they'll take it down while the Haunted Mansion is also down. Anything is possible but that's a big one to drop right in the middle of what would be their biggest period, Halloween.

Let’s hope! I was thinking it’s a crazy move as well

The calendar is official through August 25th and nothing new (i.e. BTMRR) was added, so I think you're safe.

I've just come to expect that at least 1, maybe 2, major attractions will always be closed when I go regardless of time of year. Going in with that mindset helps dampen the disappointment. It is kind of like roulette not knowing what specifically will be closed until 6 weeks out.

Frankly, there is SO MUCH to do at the 2 parks, that 1-2 things being closed is quickly overcome with how much else there is to do - especially right now with all the nighttime entertainment.

I just did 4 days in the parks with Matterhorn and Star Tours closed. I was disappointed about Matterhorn, but even over 4 days there are still things we didn't get to do!

you're absolutely right! Guess I should be glad they do regular refurbs so no accidents happen. It’s for the safety of the guests at the end of the day. Thanks

Is this video at all true? Lol came across it on tiktok and now I’m confused. I had to save it to show you all because she deleted my comment and is probably just trying to get clicks.
