Welcome to the August 2021 exercise thread! This month we won't be deep diving into any particular theme, but we just might be surprised by a Disney character pop-in every now and then to help us reach our goals!

If you’re returning, we’re excited to have you back! If you’re new, welcome to the team! Here’s how it works:

Each person chooses a time goal and posts minutes towards that goal as they exercise. You can post daily or just catch up when you can. You decide what movement counts towards your goal - which can be a nice round total for the month, a specific number that means something to you, or a calculation based on a target number of minutes per day.

Since August has 31 days, here are some common conversions:

15 minutes/day = 465
20 minutes/day = 620
30 minutes/day = 930
45 minutes/day = 1395
1 hour/day = 1860

One of the special motivations of our Disney challenge is color changing! Page one will be updated with individual and team color changes as we make more and more progress.

10% - Stitch Blue
25% - Orange Bird Orange
50% - Figment Purple
75% - Piglet Pink
90% - Incredibles Red
100% -Tink Green

We’re officially starting this challenge on August 1, but if you don’t find the thread until later in the month, you’re still welcome to join!! There's no better time than the present to start toward your goals! Just post your goal and I’ll add you to the list. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and to check out old threads to see what’s been going on.

Okay, so... I'm going down, in hopes of exceeding my goal, instead of setting high and failing (like the last two months). Also, I'm hoping our trip home this month gets me lots of walking around numbers. Goal is... 600 minutes!

I will work to complete 1200 minutes this month. I am heading to WDW at the end of this week so plenty of walking and hopefully some swimming next week.

Thanks for hosting this month Twilight Sparkle.

20 minutes yesterday and another 28 today. Tough couple of days. My two best friends from high school are still a big part of my life. They were Bride's Man and Man of Honor at my wedding....and one of them just lost his mom. She died due to diabetes - a few years after my Dad died of diabetes, 10 years after both of my BFFs were diagnosed with diabetes. I'm so angry. She didn't need to die. If she'd just started walking, stopped drinking her twice a day soda, just taken the smallest steps.... but nope. Anyway.... No need to post condolences, go for a walk instead. Maybe take someone with you. :(

Such a difficult time for you - hugs coming your way.

50 minutes for yesterday and today. (50/600)
In our trip to the botanical gardens, I learned something. Most days, I walk at our town trail. It goes through a lovely quiet wooded area, actually part of our town's arboretum. I really enjoy the quiet, the green, the fragrance. Well, in the garden's brochure, they describe this as 'Forest Bathing'. Who knew? 😂

Raya, sorry to hear that sad news. Diabetes really is a horrible, horrible thing.

50 minutes today. The weather was surprisingly cooperative. I guess it knew I needed the walk. Anyone else see the annoucements about the new Star Wars Hotel? I was super-excited for it but the experience seems so short (1pm day 1 to 10am day 3) for the high price ($4800+ for two). It's nice of Disney to save me money that way. :P
