August 2020 Trip Reports

Maybe we can check but I think I read/saw that the monorail was only operating in the evening one hour later than the MK close time.

When the DISMeet will be there in October, the MK closes at 6pm so that means a last monorail run at 7pm. Still kinda early for a monorail crawl is my issue.

We may have to have a crawl around our FW loop on a few nights. :drinking1

Today was HS, we didn’t try to get there prior to rope drop, we wanted to take our time and go at a slower pace.

We arrived with enough time to ride ToT before our lunch reservations at 50’s Prime Time. We waited maybe 15 minutes, it was fun.

After ToT we walked to Prime Time, you can only check in for your reservation 15 minutes prior to your reserved time and they are not taking walk ups at this time.

After lunch we hit RNR, we waited about 20 minutes. A storm rolled in just as we got under cover in the queue.

After that, it was off to TSM, they said the wait would be 50 minutes but a running theme of the day was all of the waits were half what they said.

We also rode SDD, MFSR, Muppets. ST and M&MRR. We weren’t able to get a boarding group for RotR.

We headed back to the Fort around 7:00 only to find that Duke had been sick (from both ends) on both dog beds and the dinette bed, my youngest son’s pillows and his pajamas. We were able to salvage one dog bed, but the other one and the pillows were trashed.

The rest of the night was spent cleaning the camper, doing laundry and my husband went out to Target for a new dog bed for Duke.

Aww, poor Duke (from one Duke to another)... hope he’s feeling better now!

Thanks everyone! I think Duke was suffering from too much human food my hubby was slipping him under the picnic table and having issues with the heat.

We have been mixing rice into his dog food and making sure he stays in the AC or pointing a fan at him when outside. We are also keeping the walks shorter.

DS3 volunteered to stay with him today if we could switch park days for today from AK to MK since he wasn’t interested in MK.

As long as we can find our way to Geyser Point at some "point" lol

If that guy could make it to Discovery Island a few months ago, we should be able to make it to Geyser Point. 🚤

I just discovered that place a couple of trips ago, but it quickly became a favorite.

Today hubby, the youngest son and I went to MK. We arrived around 12:30pm.

We decided to have lunch first, we submitted a mobile order for Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. It was easy, quick and painless.

We were in the park until 7:00 and rode BL, CoP, SM, Pooh, SDMT, SW, PP, BTMR and Splash. We took lots of breaks to sit and have a drink and enjoy a break from the masks.

Most of the stores are closed as well as most snack kiosks. There are very few food options in any of the parks. If anyone is a shopper, they will find few places in the parks to look around and buy things.

Mine too, one of the most relaxing settings on property. Even the food was really good and service was quick. Of course no fireworks now, but when there is they pipe the music in over there too so you can catch the MK fireworks from there. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite actual resort besides the Fort. The standard rooms aren't the biggest but everything else there so makes up for it. So many fireplaces all around with sitting areas.

Today was Epcot day! We arrived just after opening at 11:15. They have closed the entire innoventions area and central courtyard behind Spaceship Earth. You now have to turn to the right or left just past the entrance to Spaceship Earth. There are new paths, the one on the right takes you along the side of The Seas and the on the left takes you by the GotG construction site.

I know the pics aren’t the best but I wanted to show the lighter crowds and the construction walls. The crowds did pick up as the day went on.

I have lots of pics to post if anyone is interested to keep looking/reading.

We stopped and rode Soarin’ on our way to the Rose and Crown for our lunch reservation. That was the only thing we rode, we were all about World Showcase today.

I took photos of the booth menus available at this time. Between Canada and the U.K. there is a special events venue that has a few booths in the AC along with live entertainment.

The new rules regarding masks and social distancing really kind of force you to slow down and take your time. Each time we bought something at a booth we had to stop to eat/drink. You are not permitted to walk and eat/drink.

For the shoppers in the group, all of the 2020 Flower and Garden Festival merchandise is 30% off and annual pass holders save another 20%. I took photos of the shirts available, but they also had garden decor, mugs, pins, etc.

It's funny you would like Cosmic Ray's, mom, because that's a running disagreement between DD21 and myself.

She's a former College Program Cast Member (Housekeeping, Boardwalk Resort, Spring 2018 Alumnus) and was in the parks nearly ALL her off time/days. Ray's ranks down there on her list just below Shawshank prison food. I like the variety offered at Cosmic Rays and still remember Michael Iceberg performing his synthesizer show in the big dining room (late 1970s) that looks out toward the Teacups. And just to show how upside down our opinions are, she raves about Pecos Bill's and I refuse to decorate my food off the trough of toppings at that place. (I did get the souvenir Country Bear lemonade jug though).

I've never done mobile counter service ordering but may have to in October.

And for today's Epcot, did you take any pix of the new Space Restaurant that hasn't opened yet in Future World?

Thanks for your updates!

Ed

We left the park on the GotG side.

They are building a new area at the entrance, in front of Spaceship Earth and I was able snap a photo on our way out.

Tomorrow youngest DS has a couple of conference calls for his graduate studies so we will have an off day to relax and hang out with these guys.

I wouldn’t say I liked Ray’s, the food options at MK are VERY limited right now. I’m with you on Pecos Bill’s though. Our go to’s are Columbia Harbor House and Casey’s which were both closed. All QS locations require mobile ordering at this time, so you might be forced to try it.

I didn’t make it over to the area where the space restaurant is going in. We really focused on WS today.

Oooooook. I was gonna just surprise y’all but I can’t hold it in. DW and I are driving down to stay at the Fort this weekend!!!! Checking in Friday, out on Sunday. We’re going to leave our camper at the in-laws so we can do a couple more trips before the meet. I am so beyond excited! We did preferred, not tried it before.
